I still enjoyed my time with it, though, and its many weird quirky aesthetics and mission objectives. No matter how it lands, it's still good in its own right.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is nowhere near a masterpiece, but it's definitely Game Freak's biggest and boldest statement to date. One that leans into the very roots of the franchise looking for a more interesting approach to the trainer-monster relationship, all wrapped up in a world that truly lives up to the mystery in its own name. GhostWire Tokyo is at its best when you lose yourself in its universe. It's a love letter to Japanese folklore and ghost stories, and even when the open world and combat become repetitive, you never get tired of exploring the streets of Tokyo.[Recommended]

Valiant tries to surprise with its crusade setting and multiplayer modes, but this squad-based RTS has serious narrative problems and a gameplay approach that doesn't feel fresh in any way. It weaponizes its narrator and its engine to deliver dinosaurs in sheer numbers as a primal tool of power and genuine, unadulterated, nerdy fun. The worst part of it is it takes a painful while to do its magic, but oh boy does it do wonders afterwards. [Recommended]

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble is a step forward in the series, adding new cool mechanics and introducing a compelling online multiplayer. [Recommended]

While staying true to the formula, it does however take some room for innovative design within its own limits: worlds that guide the player without taking the fun out of exploring, a variety of pacing and as well as several RPG elements adding some little depth and customization to combat. Overall, it's an immersive journey through a grounded fantasy world with an unique aesthetic and very solid gameplay. Madden NFL 23 is a step-up when it comes to football simulation and gameplay, but it still carries most of the franchise woes from the last decade. It is undoubtedly a better game than last year's entry, but it still has a long way to go on all of its aspects, from the lack of novelty in the game modes to the frequent bugs and glitches. EA Sports has taken steps in the right direction, but they haven't managed to make a real statement on an entry that was supposed to honor the late John Madden.

Ender Lilies has some flaws: their enemies repeats too much and its music too, but it has a sweet gameplay, good bosses and a so interesting world. If you love Metroidvanias, do not miss this one. [Recommended]

It's not perfect though, as some really unique systems from the first game (say consumables for instance) have been but erased due to a disagreeable interest for scarcity: fun stuff is locked hard behind in-game currencies and it'll take you a long while to fill up your pockets. Despite having only two game modes, the card system and modifiers make it a very versatile experience both in its cooperative and competitive sections. You may end up missing a few more infected types, however, as you play, you will see that the subclass system gives more variety than it seems. With excellent performance on both consoles and PC, having cross-platform play ensures that there are always people ready to join you in its various scenarios. It remains to be seen how the title evolves over time, as Turtle Rock has confirmed that new DLCs will arrive, in which it will be enough for a single member of the group to have them to be enjoyed by all. The package is surrounded by a technical section that gives lukewarm progress for the new generation and, above all, by the presence of that career mode that can become a real sink of hours. If you are a follower of the genre and, above all, if you haven't been close to the saga in years, it is a title to consider.

The DioField Chronicle presents a successful battle system, with a lot of potential, but it doesn't always squeeze the most out of it. The story fails to captivate neither with its plot nor with its uninteresting characters.

Humankind is a worthy competitor to Civilization, with some fresh ideas that improve on the traditional 4X formula. It may be lacking in some systems, and others need more polishing, but the virtues of Humankind outweighs the negatives by much. It doesn't matter if you are a newcomer to the genre or a true Civ veteran, Humankind will leave you begging for one more turn on each and every game. [Recommended]

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game takes the formula seen in MudRunner and SnowRunner one step further, and introduces some additional elements that enhance the experience. Fans of the saga are going to enjoy it a lot, although the graphics has a lot of room for improvement.[Recommended]

It knows how to grab you with its enticing plot twists, but it lacks substance. Life is Strange is more than this; it's an introspective look into themes of youth that resonate with the player. Here, however, too much substance is sacrificed for style and dramatic flourishes.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 needs adjustments, some sooner than others. And while it remains a graphical powerhouse, until more patches arrive to stabilize everything the game brings to the table, it is still not recommended to play it. [Not Recommended]

This relaunch brings with it a handful of additions such as improving its rate of images per second, reducing loading times, new aesthetic content or the inclusion of photo mode. Although the original experience, hand in hand with the Wii U GamePad, is unrepeatable, the version analyzed on PS5 manages to correctly adapt its mechanics. Without a doubt, a game more than necessary for horror lovers. [Recommended]

One Piece is back with a new adventure game created by ILCA and Bandai Namco, a classic JRPG with fun turn-based battles, good graphics and an interesting plot… but its gameplay is quite basic and straightforward.

The First Descendant is a fine addition to the shooter-looter family as it features the enemy variety and RPG depth many of its casual so-called competitors lack of. There's no doubt many will it their new home, although its pricey store and boring guns make it a lesser version of Warframe in our eyes.

Arc Raiders achieves precisely what the extraction formula has been missing: approachability. It's a world that's appealing on its own for pretty much anyone —immersive, tactile, suggestive. It just happens to have an extraction mechanic and progression system on top of it. The game nails these features too. Loot and gear is easy to understand, hard to earn. Figuring out the PvE mobs can be tricky but also fresh and rewarding. There's plenty of both friend and foe depending on your personal preference, and the rewards for leveling up and investing resources are all satisfactory. Great game overall. [Recommended]

A surprising mix of souls-like combat, role playing progression and semi-open environments game structure. Definitely, a very original and compelling hack 'n slash adventure and action game. [Recommended]

Knockout City is a fresh and fun take on multiplayer. Should be amazing to play with friends and family and there’s tons of cool stuff to play every season. However it should be noted that there’s barely any depth attached to its core gameplay mechanic and therefore it becomes repetitive after just a few hours.

The Williams have preferred to pay a faithful homage to the original design, and that makes it a very interesting historical piece, but also a missed opportunity to adapt the game to a current audience that will find friction and a certain lack of logic to its puzzles and mazes.

If you are looking for a somewhat more warlike and varied RTS experience, you will come across a problem: Solium Infernum is committed to an idea and lives and dies with it, which translates into a more contained experience than you would like.

Hi-Fi Rush has turned out to be a real surprise. It does so by allying itself with rhythm to power up attacks, but also with a design that works both inside and outside of combat arenas. [Recommended]

Ubisoft has created one of the best VR Games ever, adapting with mastery the Assassin's Creed stealth action and parkour. [Recommended]

Bravely Default 2 is a good and classic RPG for Nintendo Switch. However, it doesn't take any risks to offer something different.

FIFA 23 it's huge and has a place for every football fan. However, not as great as the legendary editions of the football simulator.

I can not find anything to reproach this port of God of War to PC. The masterpiece that was in 2018 is still valid today. The adaptation of its controls to the keyboard and mouse makes you forget the remote control after a few minutes of play. Thanks to the use of NVIDIA DLSS 2.0, those who have compatible cards can enjoy the title at 4K, 60 images per second, HDR and ultra graphics, having a complete next-generation experience. Nier Automata: The End of YoRHa Edition is a good port for Nintendo Switch that does what it needs to do: unfold the action of Nier Automata on the hybrid machine smoothly and consistently. [Recommended]

After the Fall is an entertaining and frenetic multiplayer VR FPS. Killing waves of the Infected is a real pleasure thanks to its different levels of difficulty that ensure the acquisition of more rare equipment. The cross-game between virtual reality platforms, as well as its accessibility options with automatic or manual recharge, or in a cooperative experience suitable for all types of users. Despite not having more than five scenarios in PvE and two in competitive, it is a title that you can go to on a recurring basis. Don't be fooled by Overwatch 2's title: it's nowhere near a sequel, but a relaunch instead.
