    Octopath Traveler II is a fantastic JRPG that is so attached to the genre that all those who can't stand this type of game should stay away completely, but all of us who love the work Square Enix has done over the decades, and we long for the days we spent with Terra or Chrono, you will be able to fully appreciate all that Octopath Traveler II stands for. It is a game for fans of the genre.

    A masterclass in narrative convergence, the eight-fold seemingly disparate paths of Octopath Traveler II come together to form a tightly plotted and engaging whole. Though its gameplay is not ground-breaking, its battles are fun and rewarding and manage to cut out much of the grind of its predecessor, making it an essential JRPG experience.

    Octopath Traveler II does what an excellent sequel should. Instead of breaking new ground left and right, it improves on the original in nearly every way and feels more confident about the stories it tells. There’s still room for improvement in some of its stiffer areas, but Octopath II is a sterling achievement all around.

    The sequel to Octopath Traveler goes down the same route, so it plays somewhat safe. The strong stories keep you engaged and visually it is appealing, but be aware that the performance is not optimal on the Switch. That said, there is little else to fault with the game and fans of the original can buy this title blindly.

    Octopath Traveler II is basically a "more of the same". Although the Acquire guys have made various adjustments to the original formula, implementing interesting innovations such as the day / night cycle or the latent powers, none of them can be defined as truly impactful.

    Despite my frustrations with the limited ways that Octopath Traveler II improves upon the original, at its core the game still scratches an itch that no other game can satisfy. I still spent more than 50 hours in the world of Solistia, exploring every part of the map I could and seeking out new stories to immerse myself in...For those who lament the modern state of Final Fantasy, or want something that feels truly inventive in its design compared to many cookie-cutter AAA games, Octopath Traveler II is a journey well worth taking.

The game also features an impressive cast of characters, each with their own unique personalities and backstories. The combat is fast-paced and strategic, and the boss battles are especially thrilling. Overall, Octopath Traveler 2 is an excellent RPG and a testament to the developers' attention to detail and commitment to quality. Highly recommended for fans of classic RPGs.… Expand

Gameplay has seen some quality of life improvements which increased my enjoyment. The first Octopath barely featured any interactions between the various travelers, and this game remedies that for the most part by including a fair amount of opportunities for characters to talk to each other between chapters. Music is also a strong point, as are the visuals which have seen a slight upgrade. The finale is far more accessible and well done in this game, which I greatly appreciated; I never finished Octopath 1 since it's ending was so obtuse and inconvenient to find. The amount of content is vast, perhaps too vast, but for the most part largely enjoyable and of a high quality. The classic RPG gameplay is still lots of fun, and I didn't tire of it in spite of the games gargantuan length. I highly recommend this title, it does have some flaws but is a great time regardless.… Expand
