It originally aired in 1995 in the US on ABC, in the UK on ITV and in Australia on Channel 7. An expanded version with two additional episodes was released on VHS and LaserDisc in 1996. A DVD released in 2003 included 81-minutes of additional material. The eight episodes was remastered by Peter Jackson with a new episode of previously unseen footage added on 26 Nov 2025 on Disney+.
