Flashback 2 is the sequel to the 1992 cult classic, with a title that neither lives up to its legacy nor modern quality standards. It leaves the 2D gameplay behind to offer a three-dimensional action game with crude and unsatisfying twin stick shooter control. Its wonderful cyberpunk setting and some good ideas cannot make us forget how much it still needs to be polished.

Flashback (1993) remains untouched: Unfortunately, this sequel is also doomed to failure, although it tries to remain faithful to its predecessor.

Flashback 2 is a forgettable sequel. After his debut in 1992, it is not the first time we have seen the protagonist Conrad again, but it is almost certainly the worst. Flashback 2 even pales in comparison to Fade to Black, a short 3D sequel released in 1995, and also in comparison to the controversial 2013 remake, criticized for being considered "not very heartfelt". The new Microids title is unfortunately impossible to recommend, because it is marred by technical inaccuracies, characterized by a banal artistic direction and an unrefined and imprecise gameplay.

All things considered, it's better to pretend that this game doesn't exist and go back to considering Fade to Black the official sequel to the first Flashback.

Flashback 2 is a mind-boggling mess of a game with few redeeming features, and a sequel we just didn’t need.

The most pointless sequel since Duke Nukem Forever. Every single good idea is crushed by five bad ones.

As wonderful as it was, our past, with great games like the first Flashback, we'd better think about the future of this medium. Flashbacks like these are the last thing we need.
