Follow Hugh, a member of an ill-fated investigation team, and Diana, a young android, as they navigate a lunar facility taken over by rogue AI in search of a way to Earth. At a remote lunar research facility, humanity discovers a new ore—one that, when properly refined, can be used to create almost anything using 3D printers. When the facility suddenly falls silent, Hugh and his team are dispatched to investigate...but then disaster strikes. Hugh is saved by Diana, a lone android wandering the complex. The two of them must join forces to find a way off the moon while working their way through an AI-controlled facility bent on stopping them. Half-realized replicas of human civilization sprawl across the lunar surface, while inside, only scattered traces of the facility's vanished inhabitants remain. What buried truth awaits at the end of Hugh and Diana's journey? Guide both Hugh as he moves, shoots, and jumps, and Diana, who hacks at the same time. Enjoy a fresh, new blend of gameplay in this truly unique system that will push your brain to its limits. Expand

I don't give out perfect scores lightly, and I mulled over this for some time, but there was almost no part of PRAGMATA I disliked. The story had emotional weight and surprised me with its twists, and the combination of puzzle and action in real-time made fights engaging, and the temporary weapons continually made combat feel dynamic. The simple progression was enjoyable, and I felt that every single collectible I could find held meaning that made me more powerful. This is a must-have game.

Exactly the sort of game that this old reviewer needed to refresh his love of the medium. Pragmata uses a classic, almost-lost formula along with some brand new and exciting gameplay to create an absolutely epic adventure that deserves everyone’s attention.

Set against a dystopian AI backdrop, Pragmata highlights the contrast between the soulless perfectionism of machines and the miraculous flaws of humanity.

A unique and heartfelt take on the third-person action shooter which manages to squeeze an astonishing number of complex systems into a whole that feels so natural to play that you’ll wonder why this hasn’t been done before.

As an experimental title, Pragmata won't be for everyone, but once it clicks with you, it delivers a superb and truly irreplaceable experience. Despite a lengthy development cycle, this game spearheaded by Capcom's new generation of developers successfully establishes a brand-new IP. It showcases the team's design prowess and unique vision for gameplay, distinctly setting it apart from Capcom's traditional offerings. It leaves me eagerly anticipating what this team will bring us next.

Charming, innovative, complex, and finished with a high-gloss polish: Pragmata proves that Japanese action game design is in a class of its own.

CAPCOM's new PRAGMATA IP feels like a return to old-school design: extreme linearity, no unnecessary bells and whistles, and a narrative barely worthy of such a name. There's beauty in such simplicity, and the game's main quirk, the real-time hacking mechanics, provides a fun, yet original combat experience. However, it doesn't go much deeper than that in any regard, ultimately satisfying the player without leaving any lasting memories.
