  • Summary: In Restored Land all actions have permanent consequences. Zombies killed by the player do not respawn. Looted items also no longer respawn while containers provide fewer supplies, and shops offer reduced stock at higher prices. Under these new rules, activities such as Convoys, Dark ZonesIn Restored Land all actions have permanent consequences. Zombies killed by the player do not respawn. Looted items also no longer respawn while containers provide fewer supplies, and shops offer reduced stock at higher prices. Under these new rules, activities such as Convoys, Dark Zones and Hives need only be completed once. Survival mechanics are intensified, including the need to manage hunger and replace depleted flashlight batteries against this backdrop of finite materials.

Additionally, players can further define the rules of their survival by enabling the One Life option that gives players a single chance to complete the entire Restored Land experience. If players die, their save is wiped and they must restart from the beginning. Completing the game in the Restored Land and One Life setting unlock special rewards.

Restored Land reinforces the core philosophy, placing full responsibility for every decision, risk, and resource on the player. It marks a turning point in the Dying Light story where, for the first time, hope can return as areas are step by step fully cleared of the infected. The restored areas gradually come back to life, with survivors reappearing in the world and returning to their normal lives.

A re-release or soft reboot of the latest zombie slasher from Techland is better and more challenging than before, with a new persistent survival mode, new roadkill races and more. The best part: it's a free upgrade.

A more complete version of an already strong game, with enough changes to make it worth coming back to. A no-brainer for survival horror fans.

Restored Land has transformed Dying Light: The Beast from a very good game into an even better one. The issues I complained about after launch have been fixed, and the addition of survival mode offers a great opportunity to revisit Castor Woods.

All in all, Restored Land is a bit of a hit and a miss. But it’s a free update, the biggest Techland has ever done, and arrived a little over half a year after launch. For anybody who plays Dying Light solo and hasn’t played The Beast before, Restored Land would be a great way to experience the story and campaign for the first time. But anybody that’s already gone through Kyle’s vendetta with the Baron before will have to do so all over again.

Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land continues Techland’s tradition of meaningful post-launch content and support for its games. Here, players can tackle Castor Woods with a new hardcore, solo survival mode along with a slew of updates for the base game. Taking advantage of Dying Light‘s signature parkour movement and crunchy combat, Restored Land is a fantastic vehicle to dive into Dying Light: The Beast no matter your experience with the franchise.
