Splatoon 3 has something to offer everybody, regardless of what type of games you usually play. It excludes no one and keeps on giving long after the credits have rolled on its chaotic shooter action.

It's pretty fantastic, thanks to the various additions to the game's multiplayer, the overhaul to the story mode structure, and the implementation of new ideas like the three-way Splatfest Turf War. While I wouldn't call Splatoon 2 old and busted by any means, there's no denying that Splatoon 3 does feel like the new hotness.

Splatoon 3 has come a long way since the series’ inception on the Wii U and has become one of my favorite competitive games to date, shining brightly with its new quality of life improvements. There’s still a lot on the horizon for this game, given that there are promises to keep the updates coming until 2024, but as it is, you will not regret spending on this fantastic title.

Splatoon 3 confirms that this is one of the freshest and funniest franchises in Nintendo's portfolio.

Even more colourful, engaging and eccentric than ever before, Splatoon 3 is bringing the same highly amusing casual and competitive fun of Splatoon’s unique paint-based versus gameplay and polishes it closer to perfection, like topping up some old decorations with a fresh coat of paint. It is disappointing that there is nothing ground-breaking, as new weapons, maps and a couple of modes are nothing to scream about, but the campaign is the best and most inventive it has been yet, bringing a good solid 7+ hours of fun. The game also throws in a card battler for some added distraction. The quality-of-life improvements to the multiplayer were so needed, bringing the game closer to the current modern age of online gameplay.

With a sizable single-player campaign, enhanced multiplayer modes, as well as an expanded arsenal of whimsical weapons, Nintendo has yet again proven why Splatoon is now one of its most valuable properties. Its core mechanics remain brilliant, only elevated by the superb soundtrack that helps keep things fresh. While nothing revolutionary, Splatoon 3 refines everything that players love about the series for what is its best entry yet.

Splatoon 3 adds nothing of significance to the series, which is quite disappointing considering that it, as a whole, was bursting with originality when it first launched.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Splatoon 3 is by far the best in the franchise, with multiple additions to confirm that it is a new game and not just dlc. To all the people who are giving bad reviews, your right. Splatoon 3 didn’t totally reinvent the franchise, but name one sequel that does, I’m waiting. The story mode is just 100x better with an actual story that’s interesting, and finally reveals all of the game’s lore, with fighting the ending boss in space on a rocket ship! You can’t tell me that’s not cool. Multiplayer has significant changes as well, with new movement options, specials, weapons, replay system, matchmaking system, ranking system, UI and much more. Splatoon 3 overall is just a fantastic, addictive game and is a straight up perfect sequel to Splatoon 2. And i’m sure that Splatoon 4 will reinvent the series, just you wait. Expand

Console I played this on: Nintendo Switch OLED Model.

Splatoon 3 is a pretty fun experience. The difficulty curve is easy to learn, difficult to master. Matchmaking is simple and easy, and waiting in the lobby is so much better this time around as well. Turf War makes its return as the main attraction. Ranked Battles are also back, but they've been given the fun new "Anarchy Battles" name. Story Mode is slightly different this time, as per usual, with some interesting level design with a new progression system in play. Salmon Run makes a return and doesn't actually force "work hours" onto you anymore; that's right, 24/7 Salmon Run! Graphically this game is nothing we haven't seen before is a Splatoon title, and as for the sound design, second verse same as the first. Multplayer matches are way unbalanced though...

I give this entry an 8/10

I would give a 10 because the content, the modes, the events are just joyful, but only for the bad connection I have to lower that much the rank because is just annoying.
I have dedicated the game around +300 hours and when I play I enjoy it, but is frustrating the bad connection, I hope Nintendo for the next title solves this because even in championships I see this happens.

I wish I could rate this game higher, I really do. But I'm done giving Nintendo another chance. Maybe in the future I'll come back and give itI wish I could rate this game higher, I really do. But I'm done giving Nintendo another chance. Maybe in the future I'll come back and give it a better score, but right now, this game is just garbage and the devs aren't doing anything about it. First, let's start off with one of the biggest problems we have with this game, and that is the netcode. It's awful. It can be super difficult to get into a game, or sometimes even finish a match because of communication errors. The lag the netcode causes can be absolutely insane too.

Next is matchmaking. The matchmaking makes the game so unwelcoming for new players. It doesn't care what level you are, it'll match you with players 100x more skilled than you. The matchmaking forces you into losing streaks to 50/50 your WL ratio and this is one of the biggest factors to this game being unfun.

Next is the maps. The maps are bland, boring, poorly made hallways and tetris S shapes, I'm so sick of it and so is everyone else. These maps have zero flanks, no gimmicks to make the map interesting, barely any inkable walls, which ties into me saying none of these maps encourage the use of the new squid roll and surge mechanics, except for maybe Flounder Heights. This game is updated at a snails pace. The game gets updated every 3 months with new content, which 95% of it is reused content from Splatoon 2. Most of the new gear is locked behind a FOMO system called the catalog, and if you don't get it by the time the season ends, they'll throw it into the gacha machine with a super broken rewards system. There hasn't been a truly new weapon since launch. I know we've had some new takes on existing classes like the Splattershot Nova and Snipewriter, but as for the new classes, there's just the base kits, and there's only 4 of them. Nintendo shows no acknowledgement towards the stringer and splatana classes while they import all the shooters and chargers from previous games. Splatfests, which are in-game events that have been a loved tradition since the first game has been messed up. Splatfest matches are unbalanced as hell, the past few fests have been EXTREMELY one sided, the new Tricolor turf war, while in my opinion it's fun, it's a really half baked mode that most people don't enjoy. They feel pointless, and you'll most likely find yourself grinding to Ruler and then not touch the game until after the fest. Last thing I'll touch up on is the bugs and balancing. This game is so unbalanced it's not even funny. One of the weapons have been dominating the meta since launch and the devs refuse to listen. Same goes for the bugs, you gotta wait until the mid season patch or the next season update for them to patch the biggest bugs. All I can think of positively is the music is cool, story mode is fine and that's really it.

I'm done giving Nintendo another chance at making this game better, it's clear the devs don't care about this game or the players. I've been a splatoon fan since 2018 and been playing 3 since launch. But my love for this series is being brutally killed.

while entertaining, it does have flaws, as all things have, you cant do much without nintendo online, but the story mode has great plot
