Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes is the best VR horror game in quite some time. Much like Batman Arkham Shadow, Half-Life: Alyx, and Metro Awakening before it, Altered Echoes stays faithful to its series while still shining in VR. The gameplay is nothing groundbreaking, but the same can be said for the series as a whole. Altered Echoes keeps it simple and executes at a high level, getting nearly everything right with the exception of limited VR options. These ultimately do not detract from a top notch VR horror experience.

Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes doesn’t change the key ingredients of the Little Nightmares franchise, but puts you in the middle of the horrors. It’s very immersive, more direct, and sometimes a bit rough because of it. Not everything works perfectly, but it’s one of the most memorable VR games out there for sure.

Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes successfully conveys the physical sensation of stepping into the shoes of one of the series' pint-sized protagonists, yet this alone is not enough to elevate it to the status of a virtual reality cult classic. The gameplay adheres to the standard fare found in most VR titles—save for its mood and setting, which, while artistically captivating, remain limited in terms of interactivity and depth. It remains a recommended title for fans of the genre and devotees of the main storyline, though one should not expect the same level of challenge or complexity.

Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes successfully brings the series’ signature horror atmosphere into an immersive first-person VR experience. Its chapter-based structure keeps gameplay varied with stealth, climbing, and chase sequences. However, the snap-turn camera system can break immersion during tense moments. Overall, it’s a strong VR entry for fans, though its dark visuals and controls have minor drawbacks.

Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes understands very well what makes Little Nightmares special: its atmosphere, its sense of helplessness, and that constant danger that seems to follow you at every step. It is brief and narratively light, but also an immersive experience. [Recommended]
