Despite a few shortcomings, Remnant 2 remains one of the most creative, fascinating, and compelling games of the last few years.

Remnant II is a fantastic game for a base price of $49.99. I enjoyed Remnant: From the Ashes, even with the issues at release. Gunfire Games has refined what I loved from the first game, fixed the problems I noticed, and continued to expand on this post-apocalyptic universe that they had only scratched the surface of before. At the same time, they have successfully iterated on various systems to make for more fun gameplay and added a lot of replay value. Even on the base difficulty, the game can be challenging. The co-op is a great experience as your frantically clear areas and have friends cover you while reloading as the mini-boss charges, and I can’t wait to take on the Root with a few more friends.

If you're looking for a game that can challenge you and where you can spend many hours of fun exploding animated driftwood, alien zombies, and elves with muskets while collecting tons of loot - then welcome to Remnant 2.

Building on everything that was great about the original — from enemy variety to boss design to the means by which one can customize their play-style — Remnant II just about scrapes by with a follow-up that befits the mantle of “bigger, better, bolder” in numerous ways. The dangling and unfortunately noted caveat is the current performance at launch. The almighty saving grace however — and one that ultimately comes to frame Remnant II in more flattering colors — is just how significantly more rewarding the sequel feels compared to the 2019 original. Superb execution on art-style, level design and simply how one approaches the onslaught before them, though flawed in its more technical aspects, Remnant II‘s wealth of content, fulfilling challenge and broad expanding on the template it established more than makes up for its shortcomings.

Though there is enough in the margins to find fault with, Remnant II is still a sequel that only improves upon the first game. While the storytelling leaves a lot to be desired, the rest of the game receives an easy recommendation. Even the difficulty spikes and slower-than-desired rate of obtaining new weapons and upgrade materials can’t get in the way of a fun action RPG with solid combat, wide variety of play styles, and a bunch of secrets to uncover. It’s a positive step in the right direction for the series and makes me excited for what Gunfire Games will do next.

Remnant II is a darn fun game. It's clear that the developers took to heart all of the major complaints about the first game and worked on improving them. The result is a title that seems determined to put having fun above all else, and it works. Assuming you have friends along for the ride, this can easily be one of the most enjoyable Soulslike experiences out there, and it's still fun as a solo game.

If you're searching for a game to play with friends, Remnant 2 can provide an entertaining experience, but you should consider other options if you want a game to play alone. Although the graphics and storyline may not be awe-inspiring, the dynamic generation feature turns Remnant 2 into a game you and your friends can enjoy for an extended period, resulting in one of the most replayable games of the year. Still, I was disappointed with the long-awaited sequel due to frustrating character mechanics, outdated visuals, and lack of a compelling story to connect with.

The game works just fine at 60-80fps, thats true, everything else that those people say its just **** from yt videos. Truth is, that this is more Remnant 1, bigger, more mechanics, more bosses, everything to a bigger scale, more classes, guns, secrets, side quests as interesting as the main quest, multiple paths on most missions, more secrets and randomization at every reroll that makes the game more replayable... Fantastic follow up to a truly slept on title in Remnant: From the Ashes.

Unsure what the complaints about performance are - I am playing on a relatively standard PC on high settings and it plays and looks fantastic.

Highly recommend for the Soulsfan who likes guns!

I unfortunately didn't finish this game. I stopped near the end because of the way scaling and gear works.

Starting with the good. The story is interesting but takes a bit to start. The world-building and level design is insanely good. It's beautiful, a lot of variety and immersive.
Weapons play differently and each one has it particularly, same for the classes and dual classes is really fun to try to mix and match.
Secrets and dungeons are really fun.
You can reroll your campaign or play an adventure mode that let you replay a biome you previously played but arranged differently with new story points and dungeons.

The game was 8 or 9 for me at the point.

Now for the bad. The scaling is bad. It takes into account your 2 highest classes levels and 3 highest weapons levels. And you cannot scale down only up.
It means you better level your new weapons if you want to test them and see if you like them which is already time consuming just to test and play a bit with new weapons. Meaning upgrading your gears makes the game harder with no going back.
However, the more you "level up" the more the enemies do damage. But you can't level your armor so you are forced to use gear that increases damage resistance instead of using what you want.

I kinda stopped at this point, I had fun with the game but it wasn't anymore when I reached level 10+. Continued to 14, and got near the final boss but since I wasn't having fun I decided to stop altogether, which is annoying since I had fun with weapons and builds.

Runs poorly on PC despite using the latest UE5 engine the textures look bland and dated. Has terrible generic story with woke characters, oriented for co-op the solo mode is a poor experience, mechanically demanding yet hitboxes and timings are just straight up inconsistent. Lifeless procedurally generated environments with only 2 boring types of unoriginal enemies in each world. Game only attracts a small segment of try-hard players coming from the console community everyone else don't like it and feels so generic, Overpriced and not recommended for PC Expand

A souls-like getting a sequel is, at this point, a guarantee that I'm going to be subjected to bull**** stemming from a developer trying to one up the difficulty of their previous game rather than actually make something fun and not frustrating, and that was confirmed for me not even 5 minutes into my first side dungeon with a enemy that takes minimal damage before you blow open a weak point, and who has a five hit (maybe more, I didn't count exact numbers) combo that will definitely hit you at least once because of it's ability to pivot and move between each swing, and this is compounded by the fact that they made dodge distance a ****ing SKILL that you need to sink points into, and good luck healing considering they never fixed how agonizingly slow it is when you can dodge one attack, think you have an opening, then get interrupted or killed because the enemy/boss busted out a gap closer into another hit/combo.

I intended on persevering out of love for the first game.

And then I encountered a mini boss in another dungeon whose main attack was to BLIND you by glitching your screen, TELEPORT you, and then proceed to smack you about either itself or with it's minions while you try and re-orient yourself.

Nah, that's a Did-Not-Finish, uninstall and refund for me. FOH.
