As an energy source, this substance was expected to dramatically advance humanity's technological and communications capabilities. Instead, this substance caused a catastrophe that engulfed the planet and the surrounding stars in flames and storms, forming a Burning Star System.

Almost half a century later, the same substance resurfaced on Rubicon 3, a planet now contaminated and sealed off by the catastrophe.

The player infiltrates Rubicon as an independent mercenary and finds themselves in a struggle over the substance with the corporations and other factions.

In ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON, players will assemble and pilot their own mech with 3D maneuverability to move freely through three dimensional fast-paced missions.

Take on difficult challenges and overwhelm your enemies with dynamic movements that make full use of ranged and melee combat.

Armored Core VI may be the best game FromSoftware has made to date, building upon already solid foundations from Sekiro and Dark Souls and further innovating on the punishing combat the developer is known for.

ARMORED CORE VI: FIRES OF RUBICON delivers an astonishing experience of mech battles, combining freedom of choice with incredibly smart enemy AI, making every battle feel different and challenging. The story within the game is also intriguing, and the weight behind it is very real and memorable. Moreover, the superb graphics and sound design make the experience of playing the game more surreal, setting us on a journey that will remain in our hearts for years to come.

Circling back to the question that I pondered for all those years- with all the great new talent and abundant resources in tow, FromSoftware has brought Armored Core back in glorious fashion with their finest overall entry in the series history yet. Whether you’ve never heard of Armored Core before or are a die-hard fan that’s been waiting a decade for a new release, this mission to Rubicon 3 is one not to be missed.

Overall, Armored Core 6 is excellent for newcomers and longtime fans alike. It serves as a great introduction to the series, and you don’t need to be familiar with past entries to have a great time. On the flip side, the gameplay and mechanics are familiar enough that you’ll feel instantly at home here if you played AC5 or Verdict Day. Given the positive response to AC6, I hope we see more of the series sooner rather than later. It deserves to be one of FromSoftware’s cornerstones as much as the studio’s Souls games do.

Heavy mech action with plenty of variety. If you like challenges, you won't be able to avoid this game this year.

Armored Core VI is stunning and entertaining mecha action. Those familiar with FromSoftware know to expect a hard level of difficulty, but still the uneven difficulty curve becomes the worst part of the game. If you can live with it, it's hard to resist the charm of big robots.

Armored Core 6 is the essence of a soft reboot. It has the unenviable task of drawing newcomers to a niche, sometimes overly challenging series without changing too much of what made fans like it to begin with. The result is a mixed experience that, while it has some shining moments of brilliance, feels a bit loose and never plays to its strengths.

Great game. Tons of people review bombing over nitpicks and skill issues. Worth the buy.

Only thing that brings the game to a 9 for me is the story is kind of boring but doesn’t really matter much when the rest of the game is this good. Would give a 9.5 if I could.

Not gonna lie, and i can't tell why, but It feels a bit constricting. Missions are straightforward, story is well, there, i think...It's got a FS flair, if nothing else.

The designs can be fun, but otherwise not really innovative in any particular way. Enemies are okay for generic mechs. Bosses can be fun, if a bit annoying with the constant explosions to the point that i can't follow what happens on screen.

i really am horribly bored by this game and i really feel that i shouldn't be. It's looks like an awful grind towards more weapons and whatnot, all the while micromanaging the stuffing out of your mech, just to be able to go through some of the missions a bit easier.

FS up to their usual nonsense, not only refusing to lend a hand, but actively slapping you if you try to go against their apparently preferred method of finishing certain fights. I've been told that it gets better the further you go along, but honestly I can't see a reason to keep playing. I'm thinking that the hype isn't really justified.

Not to be misunderstood, i strongly believe it's a good game, but also an acquired taste and i guess it's not for me. I'm more partial to their Souls series.
