I hate the fact that I'm writing this review because for me AC6 could've become the title to save AAA gaming in 2023 along with BG3. Unfortunately Baldur's Gate 3 remains a lone soldier and AC6 fell flat 10 miles before the gates of success.

I hate the fact that I'm writing this review because for me AC6 could've become the title to save AAA gaming in 2023 along with BG3. Unfortunately Baldur's Gate 3 remains a lone soldier and AC6 fell flat 10 miles before the gates of success.

Now before I express what I disliked I'll say that there are still a few good things about the game. One of those good aspects is the fact that AC6 still looks like a videogame and not a photo realistic 6 hours movie with 20 minutes of gameplay unlike many other 3As. The destruction of the environment is on point and to be fair maybe on par with Hawken which is a good thing in my book. After all environmental destruction is a typical trait of mech games and ignoring it could've cost the game a lot. Missions are normally short and to the point. The game has a pretty ok customization menu and the mechs' designs are pretty neat. Voice acting fits the tone of the game and thank funk there was no trace of "do better" condescending Millennial writing.

And this is where all the good stuff in AC6 ends, time for the mudwatter.

As soon as I started fighting I felt that familiar Dark Souls clunk even though the game was pretty fast - paced and I don't really know how to describe that particular "clunk" but it was really off-putting and jarring to me as a person who dislikes souls-like games. There's an immensely huge power gap between the ordinary enemies and the bosses. Most of the fodder robots died in one hit while on the other hand the bosses tested your mechanical skills to the very limit. Moreover the flying enemies stand right above your head(that's when they're not running away from you and bombarding you with the whole US military power at once) and you need to stare at the sun for half of the duration of the fight. Weapons deal next to no damage to strong enemies and the only way to succeed in defeating them is get right up in their face and button mash the melee weapon which is absolutely stupid considering that this is a mech 3rd person shooter not Sekiro. The only way to "grind" for game currency is fighting 3 enemies that have the same rank as you do and after you defeat each of them once their bounty is halved, about 20K which is 8-10 times less than what you need for a single subpar component that, again...deals 0 damage to bosses. Feedback for controller is only for enemies, you get none from destroying silos, forests, trucks, shipping containers and it feels veeery underwhelming giving this game was arguably one of the most hyped titles this year and the one with the biggest studio behind it. Knocking down massive steel boxes felt like I was playing with cardboard honestly. Sound design which completely omitted the low spectrum surely didn't make interactions with props feel palpable either. And to top it all off - you don't have the option to save manually. Thank you Dark Souls for inspiring people to make games devoid of any fun! Is it even a proper game if you don't suffer through the entirety of its duration?

There you have it. I'm gonna be 100% honest with you, this is not a joke - I enjoyed Hawken: Reborn more than AC6 and this says a lot. Thumbs down unfortunately.

Short version, AC6 doesn't feel like an AC game. Too much souls influence and lack of traditional AC feel/mechanics (controls, lock on system, combat, etc). The game itself isn't bad. i really am horribly bored by this game and i really feel that i shouldn't be. It's looks like an awful grind towards more weapons and whatnot, all the while micromanaging the stuffing out of your mech, just to be able to go through some of the missions a bit easier.

FS up to their usual nonsense, not only refusing to lend a hand, but actively slapping you if you try to go against their apparently preferred method of finishing certain fights. I've been told that it gets better the further you go along, but honestly I can't see a reason to keep playing. I'm thinking that the hype isn't really justified.

Not to be misunderstood, i strongly believe it's a good game, but also an acquired taste and i guess it's not for me. I'm more partial to their Souls series.

This game is not up to the standards I expect, and that's fine, From Software should innovate a bit more and make their game not only feel good to play but make it look good to play in all aspects.

It is a lazy game. They just focused on good boss fights, which I am all for. But the rest of the game is garbage. Sekiro is a much better game from every perspective (boss fights included).
The mission aspect of the game is so poorly done, they could have learned from metal gear solid 5, where you have an open world to enjoy, a mother base where the mech customization can take place ...

TLTR: Unbalanced, repetitive, outdated graphics, gameplay not fully satisfying.

1st boss is very hard, but then I had a situation where he was like not moving and I was kind of below-behind him and it felt easier. When I figure out you have to assault and melee him he is still hard but I think its a bad decision to throw players in and give them such a hard boss at the very start.

Baltheus is very hard as well, BUT for me the solution was not really that much skill but just the build. I went to a website looked up a build, did not work for me. Went to another website. Build with all plasma weapoins plasma handgun, plasma rifle, plasma rocket launchers and then I spammed it flying above him and made a few dodges and lots of panick dodges just to get distance and I beat him.

Graphics are pretty outdadated and boring, even maxed out the explosions look like from 2 generations back, you can clearly see the they are 2d sprites that are too slow animated they look like trash. The world feels like dystopian scenario was just picked as an excuse for having super boring and bland level design. Even when there is snow it still looks the same. FROM had such great architecture in many of their Soulsborne games. This does not keep up at all.

This is my 1st AC game, I do not know how he others played out but this is clearly inspired by Dark Souls. But its not really delivering. There is a dodge but it is not super clear and obvious when to dodge as you have things flying at you very fast and often simply moving is enough. The bosses so far (I am chapter 3) except the two I mentioned above were pretty easy and kind of boring to fight. All I had to do its constantly fly in the air while spamming my weapons basically. Not really 100% satisfied with the gameplay. Its fun to try out new builds, but going back into levels to looks for combat logs feels artificial game time streching. I kind of enjoy it anyway more or less because it give me parts and money. I experimented quite some builds an have many parts by now. My current build feels OP dual long range shotgun with a medium weight. I fly somewhat close and spam all my weapons. I do not need this to be Dark Souls, it clearly is not, yet I would probably enjoy it more it it was, again the combat feels it lacks something and is generally not challenging at all or it depends just too much on the build. All the basic enemies in the game basically provide no challenge at all. Sometimes in bigger levels you may run out of heals because tanking some thing seems just a part of the game.

And serious game design flaws in the menu. Why do the sorting resets every time? WHY, WHY TF do I need to sort every single section in the assembly and the shop? Seriously! And then they reset it when I restart the game. Who came up with this BS? There should be ONE sort for everything and it should save. Hopefully the fix this b4 I am done with the game.

I am not saying its a bad game but its soo much wasted potential and I clearly can not take this FROM fanboys seriously who give this 9/10 or 10/10, I am basically a FROM fanboy myself and DS3 is my favorite game of them. And again I do not need this to be more like DS but its just lacks challenge so far. That bulldozer boss had even its weakpoint ob top right? If you just always fly its super easy to beat.

I find it too hard to see when my weapons are reloaded with all the things exploding on the screen, again I basically just button mash all guns and concentrate on flying and positioning. I it feels there is something missing, it could be better.

My first time playing an Armored Core game and to be honest I would not have picked up if it was not made by FromSoft. The game does a few things really well but then performs poorly in a few other areas.

    The good:

    - Customization: a whole lotta of it and the game does a good job of easing you into it so it does not feel overwhelming at first. During mid to late game, however, you get access to a lot more different parts which I found hard to keep track of and so instead I just stuck with a few builds that had been working for me with some minor adjustments whenever similar part opened up.

Gameplay: tied to what I mentioned above, the process of refining your build and making adjustment to suit your needs for different levels is an enjoyable process once you get the hang of it.

-Mission variety: its good enough for the game not to become boring. Although, imo they are not good enough to be replayed (even with the added content to some missions in mind)

-The graphics are descent, nothing crazy.

-Some epic boss fights and missions. Wish there were more of that.

-Refined and smooth gameplay: Nowadays when a game ships without major bugs and performance issues you need to give credit so here you go.

    The Bad:

Uneven difficulty level: it is very poorly done in this game. Most levels are easy and then suddenly you get hit a with boss fight that is 10x harder than every other mission. Its not to say I think the game is too hard, it is just that I wish it had smoother difficulty curve where at the very least the normal missions felt a bit more challenging (or vice versa, to lower the difficulty of the bosses a little to match the rest of the game). To add to this, I find the arena to be way too easy compared to the bosses. I was basically able to easily beat everyone including the number 1 S with one tank build I had.

The story and the narrative: it is not good. everything is told through audio and all you see is their call sign. Not surprisingly, I did not get invested into any characters or factions and I got the bad ending while I thought I was making good decisions along the way. Not to spoil anything, but idk why I am expected to listen to someone telling me not to do sth without really explaining why or how it would work out if I dont and instead do the exact opposite. basically a trust me bro moment.

Overall, AC6 offers a new (as someone's first entry into the series) and refreshing gameplay at the cost of mediocre plot and poorly done difficulty curve. I would say it is worth the play but maybe get it when it goes on sale.

The gameplay is smooth but not very challenging, it feels like you are playing the camera behind your mech rather than being in direct control of it such as in the older games so it is clearly a step back.

It should have had more, given the time and experience FromSoft acquired in the past years, maybe have cockpit views, more of an open map, some exploration, localized damages, etc.

All in all, it is not a must play but might be worth a try for new players to the series, it had so much potential so lower your expectations if you are an old fan of the franchise and hope the next one will give us more than some new parts and bosses.

It's a pretty great mech game with a high degree of difficulty, but if this didn't have fromsoft on the box you could easily imagine it being a game from 2010.

Also, the difficulty, while high, isn't fun. There is nothing interesting about the current gameplay loop and it kills all momentum the game struggles to gain.

I don't mind a challenge, I enjoy FromSoft's other games. But I don't find the difficulty in this game engaging or fun. I get what they were going for with making encounters where certain ACs (mechs) are better or worse for different situations. But all it really boils down to is basically "throw yourself at this boss with the mech you like until you realize it literally doesn't work, leave the mission, buy the parts you need, make a new AC that completely counters the boss, re-clear the entire mission, kill it in 1-3 attempts, okay now back to the AC you actually want to play and never touch the other one again, oops make a different one again because this boss requires this build".

The bosses are so incredibly punishing for specific playstyles that I find myself having to change entire mechs frequently just to complete the encounter at a reasonable pace. And when I switch, I completely dominate the boss with the new AC design, and then never touch it again because I'm not interested in it. It feels almost like a gimmick with how much bosses either counter your AC or get completely countered by your AC. There's no real difficulty except if you want to bang your head against the monitor trying to beat an encounter with an incompatible AC and I find that to be a major shortcoming. Which is a shame as I think the gameplay generally feels fantastic, but the encounters are overbearing and unnecessarily punishing for specific ACs and then weak and pushovers to others. I feel I am matching puzzle pieces in this game, not overcoming the bosses by learning the patterns and mechanics.

The issue is not that its difficult at all. Its that they made the game difficult in a really unfun way with very little respect to what made the previous games fun. I am not sure who thought it was a good idea to just make the gameplay totally dodge dependent or add in a bunch of insta repairs. Or how about locking your mech customization to putting specific items on specific arms with throttled range. Literally one of their marketing points was that you could make a mech with diverse fight styles and then its like they did everything possible to force you to play one specific way. They even took out Radar which use to be a key strategy component so you could get a feel for the battlefield which turned some levels into a scavenger hunt for the enemy.

The game cycle is you get a forgettable audio brief, slog through some mobs that you 1 shot, then fight a boss that 1 shots you. Dodge well and you get to win and repeat. Not your idea of fun? Too bad. Welcome to the 'new' Armored Core.

At the end of the day I did not enjoy loosing as it that did not help me grow or learn, and I did not even enjoy winning. I wanted to win so I could unlock more parts and make a cool mech to fight mobs and in the arena but there literally was no pay-off to beating a brutal boss. Just a relief that I no longer had to endure such bad gameplay design.

Maybe bad is the wrong word. Maybe call it 'Different.' Awful game if you want the Armored core experience. If you don't mind low effort repetitive gameplay with mediocre graphics in a lazy port I would say the game is worth a solid 20$. Grab it when its on sale.

Graphics is good but Everspace 2 has much better.

Story - blablabla - little like MW5. I hate dialogues during the fight. MW5 has human characters - , AC5 is simplistic, some png avatars - talking. Everspace 2 has much better story and EDF5 has also nice style.

Loot - there is no fun with collecting it. 95% of loot u can get in the shop. They are unlocked after boss fights - very linear story.

There is no so complex customization like in MW5. Also MW5 has more realistic style a specially damage system, destroying parts.

Map design - i prefer destruction from EDF5 . Here u cant destroy too much. Level design is rather chaotic with some chaotic background. Its little same design level as ER, but nature is more reliable or strange fantasy world.

Also EDF5 and MW5 are less lonely and story is more reliable.

Boss fights - as for me they could not exist. Dumb boss advantage and ammo limit are just dumb. They are not extreemly hard, a specially with good mech builds, but dying during mission or rebuilding mech for one boss which u theoretically dont know how fight with ?!? Its easy to repeat boss fight but still... game shouldnt be Souls Like. Is this souls like? Its just any other game with hard difficulty and strange healing system.

This game has some potential for next parts but at this state sholdnt win GOTY.

    7.5 or 8.0/10 I dont know

Repetitive gameplay. 2007'esk graphics. Dog-Water story with only a few cutscenes, mostly all by radio.

90% of the good reviews are just lames gargling Fromsoftwares nutsack for their past games.

    Don't give into the hype.

Edit: Also don't take reviews that say the "difficulty is hard, therefore bad review" seriously. Game is easy just isn't great & clearly made by Fromsoftware's C team.

please do yourself a favor and don't listen to people who compare ARMORED CORE to completely unrelated games such as bg3. the first mission serves a great tutorial and you can easily tell whether this game's for you or not in 10-15 minutes. The only real problem this game has is its spike in difficulty during some boss fights which you can come back to and try with a different build.

you don't have to hit your head against the wall for 6 hours.

Graphics are good, but nothing outstanding. Some people say the graphics are bad or on the level of ps2 which is not true, but from software definitely did not push graphical fidelity to high in AC 6 to allow most PCs reach higher frame rates which is needed for this type of game plus when you are moving and flying around you wont have time to pay attention to small details anyway.

Its a really refreshing game after every other company is spitting out the same thing over and over again so this is definitely worth picking up.

    - No shenanigans ( no mtx, no battle pass, no ingame shop,....).
    - A lot of mech customization (painting individual body parts and weapons, including kit bashed decals).
    - High replayability (mission based structure, you can replay any mission at any time and try to get a better ranking).

    Cons:

    Levels are way too short:

In quite a few levels, the mission briefing is almost longer than the mission itself.
Even in the "longer" levels, right at the moment where you start enjoying the game the most, the mission is already over again. I know this is no souls like, but just to put it in perspective, none of the levels are as long as one of the legacy dungeons in any souls game.

    A lot of level recycling:

In typical Nioh fashion a lot of the levels get recycled for side missions.

    Wonky difficulty scaling:

First half of the game is way too easy.
Most of the normal enemies are just pushovers you can simply ignore.
Even many of the minibosses and elite enemies are easily outperformed.
The difficulty comes mostly from some of the boss fights and trying to S-Rank every level.
The levels on their own are not really that challenging.

    Very static world:

Not many destructible objects, larger buildings do not even have damage textures on impact, your mech simply clips through power lines. No humans running or driving around in "tiny" vehicles, no automated drones driving around on streets, no trains, no birds flying through the air,... .
The only things which move in this world are you and your enemies.

    Lack of true exploration:

The game doesn't really reward exploration. The only thing you can find in this world are chests hidden away in the levels, which give you additional parts. But I found maybe four chests in more than 20 hours of game time, and I explored a lot. You don't even have to find save points in a fromsoft typical fashion.

Graphics are mostly on early PS4 level of detail, no matter which source you play on:

Flat and static lighting. Not many reflective objects, even metals do not reflect properly.
Mediocre texture quality. Low polygon density. Objects, like megastructures, in the distance look almost like 2D wallpapers. Very desaturated and monochromatic color grading.

    Unstable framerate:

Kernel based DRM and anticheat, which prevent you together with their Stone Age engine from reaching 120 fps, most of the time, even on high end cards like a 4090. At least the game runs on 80 + frames/s now if you have decent hardware.....if it doesn't crash.

With AC VI, I was greatly surprised about how much faster paced this game is compared to most other games FromSoftware has released in the past, at least on PC, it does work quite well that the game is so action packed and faster paced.

When it comes to Performance, I played this game on my Ryzen R5 3600 and RXT 3060 Ti and, for the most part, performance was more than excellent, at 1620p DLDSR resolution, quite above 60 FPS except those particular moments when a huge particle explosion such as the one coming from a Pulse Shield or similar stuff, which made the FPS tank quite hard into the 40s or 50s, but only a short moment.
That is something certain bosses and special enemies can do sometimes, but it is not common enough to be an annoyance.

Controls and Keybinds are mostly great for this port of the game, it plays very well with Mouse and Keyboard, as the game uses a sort of soft-lock system, and I played my whole three playthroughs all the way to the NG++ ending, with Mouse and Keyboard.
My only nitpick here is the fact that the Auto-Lock On feature from the aiming computer system, if you engage it and are using the Mouse, will lose its objective often if you mouse the mouse, which…you kinda will unless you let go of the mouse completely, which is dumb, because you’re likely using most of its buttons to fire weapons, jump, maybe quick boost or whatever you like.
So, for me, the automatic lock-on system seemed useless except in very particular scenarios or bosses, but even then…I am skilled enough to be able to move the mouse camera faster and with more precision than any automatic camera movement could ever do.

When it comes to Story and Characters I found this to be one of the strongest points in the game, just like its great gameplay is, of course; for a game where we don’t see any actual human character model, I couldn’t but feel very attached to some of the characters we interact with along the game.
I love that each mission has a short briefing too and, as the story develops more and more, those briefings become much more than just a mere transaction of info about the next job, and it’s very well executed, it’s just a simple radio communication, no faces, no character model gesturing, just deep and very clear words. It is fantastic and the actors did a fantastic job.

Finishing the regular new game campaign leaves us with lots of questions and the need for more, and it is great that once the credits are over, we are right back at the first mission briefing but…things have somehow changed a bit, and we can also take different decisions for some of the missions, which is nice, and we can even find a few new missions too.

Once you basically have the whole picture when you’re close to the end of NG++, everything falls into place, and it’s hard for me to choose my favorite ending, I think all of them work well enough if you understand the lore and all the relationships between some characters, and so on.

Obviously, the NG++ ending and its overall campaign throws a lot of new information and revealing stuff into the mix, it was pretty good, too, especially the exclusive new missions here, and some of the new boss encounters.

Music has been great in general for this game, most of the tracks go well in the moment they’re played and some of the bosses’ tracks are quite epic and very emotional even, depending on the boss, lots of care was put into those tracks clearly, I noticed.

All in all, I had a blast with this game…it can get pretty difficult at times, but nothing some trial and error, switching a weapon or two, etc., cannot improve, sometimes drastically, sometimes slightly, which is also fun.

I liked that the game encourages trying out new parts, weapons, everything, because you can always sell the parts and get all your money back, no questions asked, as it should be.

And again, the Gameplay being so fast paced yet so precise and engaging is fantastic, never ever got tired of destroying enemy MTs and stuff, and fighting more dangerous enemies, etc., it’s just super fun all around.

And, certainly, the words “621, I got a job for you”, will stay with me for quite a while. Many others too, but mentioning those in detail would be quite the spoiler, but I can tell you that this game got me quite emotional at times, and I loved it, I’m very glad I gave myself the chance to try a game from an IP I’ve never played before.

We certainly need more games like this.

If you want a game that you can just turn your brain off and receive dopamine from mindless grinding, this is not the game for you. If you're excepting From Soft to continue to only make games that pander to the DS fans, you will not like this game.

Now, if you want something fresh from a developer that has incredible talent and customer integrity, this is the game for you.

If you want something that is extremely customizable, that allows you to play (within the realms of what mechs can do) pretty much any way you want, this is the game for you.

Build a tank with massive weapons and a ton of armor. Build a nimble wasp, that packs the punch of Mike Tyson if you're skilled enough to pilot it. Build a missile hungry machine that doesn't give your opponent anytime to breath.

To me, I can appreciate From Soft taking a risk with a franchise that is niche, when they can simple keep churning out Soulsborne after Soulsborne games and slowly become the new Blizzard, EA or Ubisoft. Even if a game like AC6 is not up your alley, anyone with patience can clearly see that this is a fantastic game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a longtime fan of the series, I found Armored Core 6 a mixed bag.

Graphically it's the best Armored Core, hands down (as it should be since it's 2023). I've seen complaints about it being ugly, or looking like a PS3 game, which are laughable. It's not the prettiest game ever, but it still looks very damn good. The only graphical issues that ever stood out to me were some of the ambient fires cast very poor lighting.

I will start by saying the first 10 hours of the game were probably the highlight for me in terms of fun, up to and including Balteus. The game's balance felt very tight and the difficulty of Balteus was enough that I spent 2-3 hours on him before the game really clicked. It's definitely the hardest armored core... up to this point. My first kill of him took 4 minutes, now I can kill him in like 40s lol.

Unfortunately, the balance of the game falls apart after Balteus. You are immediately able to buy the Zimmerman and Songbird shotgun and grenade launcher respectively, two of the strongest weapons in the game. Buying tank legs, two Zimmernan and Songbirds will sadly set you up to steamroll the rest of the game. No boss is difficult with those weapons. The Songbird are not the only problematic back weapons (looking at you Ice Worm Needles), but you get them too early for how strong they are. I had to self-impose restrictions on myself to have any difficulty with the game after Balteus. Tanks are also laughably overpowered, easily doubling your health pool and removing the self-root that heavy weapons cause. They are also incredibly fast, with one pair in particular being about as fast as bipeds. I am not exaggerating when I think you need to play with at least 2x the APM on a biped to compete with the efficacy of a pair of tank treads.

Now, the story plays out in a very similar manner to AC 4 Answer, which I had little issue with. You select a mission, you get a briefing with a slideshow, you set out. Repeat. The voice acting is mostly inoffensive, though Walter sounds like someone trying too hard to sound deep and gruff. Carla, Pater, Rusty and Snail give the standout performances. Snail is a slimeball (fitting of his name) that you love to hate, Rusty never failed to make me grin every time he called me buddy, Carla feels like someone straight out of Borderlands who is somehow NOT insufferable, and Pater does really funny impressions of Rusty. (BTW in a world where everyone communicates through audio logs, why is Pater relaying Rusty's message to me?). The Red Guns are hilarious too. For a game where every character is faceless and your only interaction is through audio logs, FROM did a good job at making me care about half of them.

Mission length is, on average, longer than even the longest of the past titles. At least on a first playthrough. There are a few 'kill 10 mooks that die in 1 hit and it's over' missions, but they're the exception, not the rule (looking at you, AC Nexus). My first ending took me about 15 hours, and I'd say you're looking at 8-20 depending on how stubbornly you try to beat the game with a light weight and double assault rifles or if you use a tank or melee. The game rewards you for playing through NG+ with several tweaked missions, several new missions, several new audio logs, new parts, and the chance at a third ending (only two endings are available in NG). NG++ rewards you with the same except you're limited to the same 3 endings. While there's just enough new content to keep it interesting, I still found myself mashing through the old dialogue and assault boosting through the same levels. The game really could have made good use of the Hard Mode present in games like AC4A for NG+, even just little tweaks to spice up every level.

The arena doesn't fare any better in terms of balance. I always assumed that since the older Armored Core games were produced at a cadence of one per year that was the reason for the lackadaisical ordering of the arena, where sometimes the rank 1 AC would be inexplicably worse than the rank 10 AC. Sadly that is much the same here, with the rank 1 arena AC being an absolute joke. Though much of the arena is. I only died to Umber Ox and Carla. When you look at how the various members of the arena pilot, you are left scratching your head at how Freud could possibly beat most of the people he's ranked above. Again, this isn't a new development compared to past Armored Core games, but it's a disappointment given FROM's experience and resources. The arena fights unlocked in NG+ and NG++ are no harder. The arena feels tacked on as an afterthought, perhaps to placate fans like myself who would also be upset if it was not included.

Overall, it's a good game but rough. The moment to moment gameplay is fun... the balance just isn't there. There's also several baffling UI choices that I can't dive into which don't ruin it by any means but confuse me.. Hopefully AC6:2 gets more time in the oven.

Expand

Having not ever played any of the previous games, or any mech game at all, I was VERY surprised with how much fun I was having, and am still having with this game! Armored Core VI delivers with FromSoftware's best-in-industry combat mechanics, amazing music, and spectacular boss-fights & enemy encounters.

Graphics are terrible, like a PS2 era game. Laughable. The controls are arcade-like awful. Strategy is rinse and repeat. A super lazy design, empty of newness to the series. Voice actors venderware. And fromsoftwares epic "it'll do" attitude all over the shop. Lacks moderism, polish and above all fun when playing this mess of a game.

And it' super funny to spend time in assembly and customization, and sure it's necessary

This is the best Armored Core game in the series, and every system has been evolved. Worth the wait. FromSoft never misses.

All of the Negative reviews are from either people who couldn't beat the first boss, or people who score popular things that they don't like low in order to bring the average down. A score of 0 means that a game has absolutely no redeemable qualities whatsoever.

stupid considering that this is a mech 3rd person shooter not Sekiro. The only way to "grind" for game currency is fighting 3 enemies that have the same rank as you do and after you defeat each of them once their bounty is halved, about 20K which is 8-10 times less than what you need for a single

The only real downside that I see from people here is the fact, that the game is "hard". I really don't see this being a real thing, tho. Again, it might be just me being an "elitist Souls veteran", who is talking about skill issues, but I literally defeated the first boss from my second try. The game feels smooth and yet weird, as this is my first AC game. I have played only the first mission and I will keep updating my comment on the game.

My first impressions are rather positive: the game is far from the best FromSoftware game I have played, but it is still better than the vast majority of the modern games. For me personally, the story has almost no meaning, as the gameplay and combat are the most important things by far. Sure, having a great story does help, but it is not as important for me.

I dislike games with 70% cut scenes. I suppose that people who enjoy "no **** combat" type of games would also enjoy this game quite a bit. The game feels like a breath of fresh air for me and I haven't seen this level of combat (outside of a FromSoftware title) since maybe Devil May Cry 5.

As soon as I saw Miyazaki at the helm, I lost all hope, they put the fans off for 9 years and then come in with the guy that directed the most controversial, most bland AC game of the franchise? This cannot go well, they WILL cater to the souls public and now here we are with mecha sekiro, I cannot express my heartbreak as a fan since Project Phantasma to see my beloved franchise be killed and then seeing FromSoft puppeting its corpse to put on a show for the soulslike crowd to soyface to, to consume yet another product that looks and feels like the previous 12, souls players are worse than the people that buy fifa every year, both do the same thing, pay AAA price for the exact same game as last time but at least fifa players won't argue to defend their game so hard in this cult like hivemind of buzz words that means whatever they want like "immersion" and "non intrusive storytelling".
Explain to me in specific terms, don't say empty words that you heard a game critic spew about FromSoft, think for yourself, don't throw out "the immersion" because you can get immersed in playing battleships, say it in clear, specific terms and features why AC6 is great and deserving of an 8/10 and you WILL fail, the customization? Downsized and made near irrelevant, the gameplay? Recycled souls elements and uninspired bossfight simulator, the graphics? late PS2 at best, the story? Retconned most of the franchise, game feel? Souls just like the past dozen games.

Kiss the good times of building a mech, experimenting with FCS, booster-gen combinations, unorthodox builds and hours balancing every detail goodbye, the list is as shallow as the franchise has ever been, feeling more bland than the PS1 era, the gameplay is a bastardization, any veteran of the franchise would feel at least sickened by these controls, and even more so with the estus flasks, reloads, target lock, pretty much every single aspect of the gameplay, but hey, screw us, the niche playerbase of a cult franchise, phase us out, kick us to the past, twirling thumbs waiting for emulation to catch up and try to relive something, there is a new and hip crowd now funding fromsoft and they like to argue pretentiously like snob art critics about fancy terms that mean absolutely nothing and play the exact same game with a slightly different feel untill their last day and will defend that is the objectively the best video game experience the world could offer.

I am tired of all this, if you truly enjoy this game you are either blind and in the cult hivemind of the soulslike fanbase or you never gave a single **** about armored core, and let's be honest, most of people never did, that's why this game ranks so high, and you lazy pretentious bastards will refuse to see things another way, to try the rest of the franchise, or will just splash the surface with that same snobby attitute and say that AC6 changes were QOL improvements when you do not have the absolute single idea of even a shadow of what the franchise was, never again, I would rather have the franchise still in a hiatus than have it completely mauled, disrespected and served to the soulslike ghouls on a silver platter, it is dead for good now, never to come back and I hope with all my heart that the criticism of this game puts FromSoft back into making soulsborne ring 3 demons die twice remake remastered and never touch Armored Core again because I never want to see whatever this is, some stillborn puppet that was beaten, abused and abandoned coming back to mock me, this is another awful tale of corporate greed and you are delusional if you think otherwise.

Overall, Armored Core 6 is excellent for newcomers and longtime fans alike. It serves as a great introduction to the series, and you don’t need to be familiar with past entries to have a great time. On the flip side, the gameplay and mechanics are familiar enough that you’ll feel instantly at home here if you played AC5 or Verdict Day. Given the positive response to AC6, I hope we see more of the series sooner rather than later. It deserves to be one of FromSoftware’s cornerstones as much as the studio’s Souls games do.
