ARMORED CORE VI: FIRES OF RUBICON delivers an astonishing experience of mech battles, combining freedom of choice with incredibly smart enemy AI, making every battle feel different and challenging. The story within the game is also intriguing, and the weight behind it is very real and memorable. Moreover, the superb graphics and sound design make the experience of playing the game more surreal, setting us on a journey that will remain in our hearts for years to come.

Rigor, accuracy and dexterity. ACVIFOR hits very hard. This kind of exigence in gameplay from From Software will bring newcomers to the mecha genre without a doubt.

In my eyes, this is a new era for not only Armored Core, but I also hope for mech games. The combat is tight, the differences in your builds feel meaningful and have an impact. Hell, even the narrative is great here. I hope people give this a shot, because to me, this is a great game that I think might be seminal for future titles in the genre.

Armored Core VI may be the best game FromSoftware has made to date, building upon already solid foundations from Sekiro and Dark Souls and further innovating on the punishing combat the developer is known for.

Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon is a masterful return to form for the series that incorporates the modern design philosophies of From Software. It’s a dystopian world with a brutally gorgeous aesthetic, and refined gameplay elevated by exceptional boss battles. Any fan of the series new or old will find something to love in this title.

A refined experience from a much more mature FromSoftware and a crew behind their best hits gives a once obscure franchise a more palatable experience for all makes Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon an unforgettable mecha action game for the ages.

If you're new to Armored Core like I was before playing Armored Core 6, this is an excellent entry point into a franchise I wish I had experienced before. With Armored Core 6, FromSoftware has one of the best games of 2023, and it feels like the studio's most-polished release yet. It was a joy to play on Steam Deck pre-release, and I'm having a ton of fun replaying it on both PS5 and Xbox Series X right now.

Overall, Armored Core 6 is excellent for newcomers and longtime fans alike. It serves as a great introduction to the series, and you don’t need to be familiar with past entries to have a great time. On the flip side, the gameplay and mechanics are familiar enough that you’ll feel instantly at home here if you played AC5 or Verdict Day. Given the positive response to AC6, I hope we see more of the series sooner rather than later. It deserves to be one of FromSoftware’s cornerstones as much as the studio’s Souls games do.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is an absolutely thrilling game, providing a hefty amount of challenge and the tools needed to grow and overcome any threats. Take up this call from Handler Walter - he’s got a new job for you.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced, highly customizable, punishing but fun mech action game, there’s no other game on the market I can recommend more than Armored Core 6. Its few foibles are easy enough for me to forgive, and if you can break through some of its early walls, I guarantee you will find a magical experience unlike anything else on the market right now.

Rise Hound, for the calm embers of Rubicon are slowly starting to burn once again. Huge corps are fighting for all the Coral resources left, AC’s change around alliancies and good pilots are nowhere to be found… Scavenge these scorched lands, scramble any passable gear and build yourself an Armored Core! Use these weapons and repair packs to tear apart the beastly industrial machines that stand in our way and give us hope for a better future… Raven, you are our only hope!

Armored Core VI is a game that delivers what it promises: it is fun, difficult and satisfying throughout. With some conceptual errors in its design it proposes a futuristic dystopian world that is far from the dark fantasy works that have made FromSoftware get to where it is, but with a clear objective: Fires of Rubicon will be the Dark Souls of its saga, not because of its resemblance to this one but because it has the same ambition. With a unique gameplay in its genre and an extraordinary setting, it has everything it needs to become a mass phenomenon.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is a masterful game that not only reminds veteran fans of the series that this franchise is alive and well, but it also welcomes in a new legion of fans, regardless of whether they have experience with the series or not. It takes the challenging counter-gameplay of Bloodborne infused with high-octane combat and a heavy dose of the signature difficulty that fans of FromSoftware have come to love. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is yet another must-buy from the famed developer and another strong contender for Game of the Year.

Armored Core 6 is rocket power — high-octane action, adrenaline-pumping propulsion, riveting ramifications all retrofitted to a world and a story that set the stage for greed and humanity to fight to the brink of total annihilation... and see what lies beyond. It's a fast-paced thrill ride that has a few bumps when it comes to consistent boss difficulty, viable builds, and clear storytelling, but when you're blazing at breakneck speed, you hover right over the divots.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon manages to successfully bring back and cultivate an experience reminiscent of the old games for newer audiences without losing sight of what made the previous games so good. While it's still relentlessly challenging and the story can be a bit drab, Fires of Rubicon is yet another success for FromSoftware with its satisfying and fast paced combat.

Armored Core VI is like getting to put together your own giant Lego robot and sending it out to die before realizing you just needed to attach a few more missile launchers. Freedom in gameplay comes in many shapes and sizes, and the customization of your very own mechs suited to each mission is a niche yet thrilling experience. A thoughtful, intricately-woven story and amazing presentation sure don't hurt, either.

White-knuckle brilliant Soulslike action, coupled with a movement style not seen in this genre for an entire generation, resurrects a blast from the past in a whole new way. If you are a fan of the genre, this game is pure punishing fun with all that implies. If not, it’s unlikely to convert you. In either case, Armored Core VI: Fires of the Rubicon is a brilliant title that breaks the mold on the genre in a whole new way.

Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon is a step forward for the franchise. It’s more accessible than old games and does away with some systems that only served to frustrate. It’s a game with an interesting story, told awkwardly. Environments are often stunningly pretty, when not just barren tundra or sand swept desert. And holy hell, is it tough at times. The AC series is one that rewards your ability to adapt and persevere in equal measure. To overcome it’s challenges you have to learn its systems and soldier on in the face of inevitable defeat. Series veterans will dine well, and if you’re signing up as a newcomer then do yourself a favour – don’t expect Armored Core 6 to be something it’s not. Try enjoying it for what it is instead.

With Armored Core 6, FromSoftware brilliantly shows that its know-how is not limited to Dark Souls or Elden Ring. The Japanese studio delivers here an action game with a rather irreproachable gameplay, at the same time tactical, demanding and ultra-dynamic, spearheading a frantic pace title... Do not be fooled by the supposedly old-school structure with individual assignments. Fires of Rubicon immerses you directly in the action, and knows how to draw when necessary linear, more open phases, bosses, not to mention still impressive panoramas. Despite a slight disappointment for the major enemies, in the 2nd part of the adventure, and a small lack of content, Armored Core 6 is an addictive title, which sticks to the skin. A great action game, even if you don't have a crush on mechas.

For a fan of the Armored Core 6 series, this is a dream come true. Yamamura and his team's work is what Armored Core was always meant to be, a fast-paced, tactically rich action game that offers a unique level of customization and can give back a lot to anyone willing to delve into its systems. The many technical evolutions and improvements to the system, however, are somewhat held back by a desire to stick to old structures that may result repetitively for many, and by a somewhat chaotic difficulty curve that could have been implemented in a more logical fashion. Overall, it remains a fantastic game, which we recommend without hesitation and represents an absolute must-have for anyone who loves the original series.

Armored Core VI is stunning and entertaining mecha action. Those familiar with FromSoftware know to expect a hard level of difficulty, but still the uneven difficulty curve becomes the worst part of the game. If you can live with it, it's hard to resist the charm of big robots.

After the big success of Elden Ring the developers of From Software now celebrating the release of their new game Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. In our review the Mech-Shooter convinced us immediately with spectacular action paced robot fights. Gameplay, controls, graphic and soundtrack working perfectly together and also the mission design brings a lot of variety into the game. But we have to say, AC6 is not made for beginners. While most enemies are not really hard to beat, the bossfights kept us a very long time on our toes. Armored Core 6 is not perfect, the menu navigation is very laborious and there are a few unfair moments while fighting the big bosses, but nevertheless fans of the franchise and the genre will be satisfied.

Armored Core VI represents a new beginning for the long-running series. It still remains true to From Software's original vision, but the whole experience has been refined to welcome an audience that cut its teeth on the studio's most recent work. Its story is a letdown and there may be some early growing pains due to its lopsided approach, but these shortcomings quickly scurry to the back of your mind once you start weaving your fully customized mech between incoming attacks while unleashing a salvo of rocket fire, sword swipes, and plasma rounds.

The long-awaited return of FromSoftware's mech-filled series, Armored Core 6 delivers on a lot of what fans will have been hoping and dreaming of. Building and customising mechs is engaging, missions are action-packed and it looks gorgeous, but it's undercut by swings in difficulty for boss fights and an all-too-familiar story.

Armored Core 6 offers slick and well-polished mech battling fundamentals, diluted by the inclusion of ill-fitting soulsborne mechanics that don’t compliment the mech pilot fantasy. Though there’s much to enjoy for fans of the series, newcomers will be met with a lopsided experience that doesn’t quite capture the full potential of the Armored Core series.

Armored Core 6 is the essence of a soft reboot. It has the unenviable task of drawing newcomers to a niche, sometimes overly challenging series without changing too much of what made fans like it to begin with. The result is a mixed experience that, while it has some shining moments of brilliance, feels a bit loose and never plays to its strengths.

Armored Core 6 goes way back into FromSoftware's roots to restore a franchise thought long lost, and it does it faithfully both feature-wise and mechanic-wise. Even certain fan-favorite weapons are back, too. As for newcomers to the series, we think they'll will be happy to discover a fun and fast paced combat that's also deep enough to keep them hooked on PvP and S-ranking PvE missions for long after they beat the campaign. Is it for everyone? Probably not. Is it for everyone who's feeling curious and/or nostalgic about it? Yeah, it definitely is. [Recommended]
  2. After the initial thrill of learning to control your machine and kitting it out with bolder weapons, and the bombast of the power fantasy, ultimately one pitiful casualty or sacrifice follows another. Perhaps the repetitive AC battles and the waste pile of deadly hardware you accumulate are designed to bring home a gut-wrenching nihilism. If not, Armored Core VI is a frequently brilliant action game that makes the most of its mechs, but also curiously at odds with itself and a little overstuffed.

Unfortunately Baldur's Gate 3 remains a lone soldier and AC6 fell flat 10 miles before the gates of success.

Now before I express what I disliked I'll say that there are still a few good things about the game. One of those good aspects is the fact that AC6 still looks like a videogame and not a photo realistic 6 hours movie with 20 minutes of gameplay unlike many other 3As. The destruction of the environment is on point and to be fair maybe on par with Hawken which is a good thing in my book. After all environmental destruction is a typical trait of mech games and ignoring it could've cost the game a lot. Missions are normally short and to the point. The game has a pretty ok customization menu and the mechs' designs are pretty neat. Voice acting fits the tone of the game and thank funk there was no trace of "do better" condescending Millennial writing.

And this is where all the good stuff in AC6 ends, time for the mudwatter.

As soon as I started fighting I felt that familiar Dark Souls clunk even though the game was pretty fast - paced and I don't really know how to describe that particular "clunk" but it was really off-putting and jarring to me as a person who dislikes souls-like games. There's an immensely huge power gap between the ordinary enemies and the bosses. Most of the fodder robots died in one hit while on the other hand the bosses tested your mechanical skills to the very limit. Moreover the flying enemies stand right above your head(that's when they're not running away from you and bombarding you with the whole US military power at once) and you need to stare at the sun for half of the duration of the fight. Weapons deal next to no damage to strong enemies and the only way to succeed in defeating them is get right up in their face and button mash the melee weapon which is absolutely stupid considering that this is a mech 3rd person shooter not Sekiro. The only way to "grind" for game currency is fighting 3 enemies that have the same rank as you do and after you defeat each of them once their bounty is halved, about 20K which is 8-10 times less than what you need for a single subpar component that, again...deals 0 damage to bosses. Feedback for controller is only for enemies, you get none from destroying silos, forests, trucks, shipping containers and it feels veeery underwhelming giving this game was arguably one of the most hyped titles this year and the one with the biggest studio behind it. Knocking down massive steel boxes felt like I was playing with cardboard honestly. Sound design which completely omitted the low spectrum surely didn't make interactions with props feel palpable either. And to top it all off - you don't have the option to save manually. Thank you Dark Souls for inspiring people to make games devoid of any fun! Is it even a proper game if you don't suffer through the entirety of its duration?

There you have it. I'm gonna be 100% honest with you, this is not a joke - I enjoyed Hawken: Reborn more than AC6 and this says a lot. Thumbs down unfortunately.
