Metroid Prime Remastered is a rare gem, unquestionably the best FPS from a machine that perhaps still lacked a benchmark at this level, and above all, it testifies 20 years later to the absolute genius of what constituted one of the greatest history video games.

With Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, Square Enix didn't simply reapply the formula of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. On the contrary, the Japanese publisher went even further. Thanks to a more developed and modernized narrative, these three foundational games that form the Roto trilogy become a truly epic family saga spanning several generations. The gameplay is also enhanced, benefiting from abilities from later games, the ingenious scroll system, and, above all, quality-of-life options that make the experience much more comfortable. The result is captivating adventures that are hard to put down thanks to their simplicity, efficiency, and tenderness—qualities that are definitively the hallmarks of Dragon Quest.

Ultimately, Pragmata is a title that still bears the scars of a complex development process—one that forced the teams to make difficult choices, particularly regarding its structure. To avoid compromising the core experience, it feels as though Capcom opted to keep things simple—a choice that is often the most sensible one. While perhaps unsurprising in this regard, Pragmata more than makes up for it with its gameplay—which is exhilarating from start to finish and constantly refreshed by regular new additions—as well as through the story it weaves around its two central characters and their intertwined destinies. Dense, spectacular, and deeply moving, Pragmata stands as the perfect example of the kind of tightly focused game we wish we encountered more often—a stark contrast to other titles that aim for sheer excess. Short yet intense, Pragmata serves as yet another testament to Capcom’s mastery in delivering finely tuned productions that send shivers down your spine.

Persona 3 Reload is a model in terms of a role-playing game remake. With this third release on PS5 and Xbox Series, Grand Theft Auto V has never looked so good on consoles. 4K resolution, framerate at 60 frames per second, Ray-Tracing... This port effectively uses the technical capacities of next-gen consoles to offer the most pleasant rendering possible, in particular with greatly reduced loading times. After a weekend of intense play on the courts of NBA 2K24, the observation is there: the mechanics are very different from last season to perform on the floors, and progress in the career. It is less obvious to have a very complete player online, and the new defense and contact system will delight the greatest defenders and screen setters at heart. To complement the many hours of gaming required online, the single-player content of the software is still gargantuan, with welcome new features. We will simply complain about the ever more invasive micro-transaction system to progress quickly, and a Mamba Moments mode tribute to Kobe not at the level of that of Michael Jordan last season.

Returning to Animal Crossing on the Switch 2 is like rekindling a flame we thought had gone out. The archipelago has never been so resplendent, enhanced by 4K graphics that make every corner irresistible, despite the controls stubbornly clinging to their old ways. But no matter: between the vibrant atmosphere of the Admiral Hotel and the complete freedom of the Dream Islands mode, which arrives at just the right time, this version offers the breath of fresh air needed to break the routine. We're simply happy to have found such a wonderful reason to return. While this version isn't strictly essential, once you've tried it, it's hard to go back.

Battlefield 2042 does everything expected of it and more. Not content with fully succeeding in its traditional multi-pan, this opus has the luxury of offering additional gigantic and highly qualitative content to players. Portal mode seems ready to keep all of its promises and allow the creation of various modes whether they are crazy or competitive. Hazard Zone, on the other hand, succeeds in unexpected situations and offers a particularly successful reading of the game in squads. Beautiful as a truck, generous, modular and damn fun to play, 2042 is neither more nor less than one of the best games of the license.

Enriched with relevant content on Switch, the remaster of Xenoblade Chronicles X respects the direction desired by the series creator since its beginnings. It aims for the point of balance between Japanese and Western role-playing games by offering a dizzying world in its disproportionate excess and gigantism, like a permanent ode to discovery. This exhilarating immensity does much more than serve the game's narrative. It belongs to the niche of turn-based tactical RPGs and is much more demanding than Fire Emblem, for example. The fact remains that almost 30 years later, it remains a must-have for the quality of its writing, especially since it finally benefits from an impeccable French translation and a high-quality dubbing cast. Thanks to its vast expansive areas, we have even more the feeling of evolving in credible and living ecosystems to enjoy its original bestiary. Besides that, Monster Hunter Wilds improves the well-oiled gameplay of the series by adding new movements for each of the 14 weapons and especially the focus mode which really changes the way of approaching hunting. And if we can salute the care given to the rather nice story, we can still regret that this new episode does not better accompany new players to discover the codes of the saga, once again. Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 remain absolute benchmarks for the 3D platform. Their return to Switch and Switch 2 is the best opportunity to discover or rediscover them in modernized conditions. However, it's important to keep in mind that this is an improved port, not a complete overhaul. The visual improvements, optimized cursor, and portable comfort bring real benefits, but don't revolutionize the experience. For new players, it's a must-have. For former Wii owners, the decision will depend on their desire to rediscover these masterpieces in a slightly more enjoyable version. They still arrive at the right time after a strangely weak year, without a truly original Mario game for the new console and the plumber's 40th anniversary. With these Super Mario Galaxy games, we've simply started dreaming about the future of the series again. Which is already, in my opinion, quite a feat.

Several updates are already planned for the coming months with additions of monsters, quests and special events. In the state Monster Hunter Sunbreak sublimates everything that has been proposed by Rise without revolutionizing the formula. We regret the absence of a mode equivalent to the Fief of Iceborn for players wanting to persist at the end of the game, but it is clear that the extension proposed by Capcom is solid, rather well stocked and very clean technically, whether on Nintendo Switch or PC. In this baroque fantasy universe, Metaphor still stands out from its predecessor by the richness of its gameplay, its original artistic direction and its more political message than ever. But above all, the new title from the Hashino-Soejima-Meguro trio looks like the culmination of the Persona formula with its mastery of rhythm and its additions of comfort of life such as its real-time combat. Rather than revolutionizing the Persona 5 formula, Metaphor ReFantazio refines it to offer a memorable and addictive journey that is so hard to let go of the controller. The result is one of the best role-playing games of 2024 that has everything to be the Persona 6 that does not say its name that we have been waiting for eight years.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake manages to bring together the best of both worlds: the charm and freedom of old-school games with the comfort and fluidity of modern titles. This starts from a visual point of view with a more successful HD-2D style than ever that looks like an achievement for Team Asano. Controller in hand, the adventure benefits from so many comfort options that it becomes more fluid than ever and modular to satisfy all audiences. Thanks to all this, we find with great pleasure the feeling of freedom typical of Famicom games with gameplay that shines as much by its simplicity as by the combinations offered. And if we can criticize it for the structure of its dungeons, some less beautiful environments and its technique on Switch, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake still succeeds in its bet to bring back to taste a timeless classic in the best possible conditions.

Two Point Campus makes an almost perfect copy by renewing the management game genre. Its amazing two-phase game system allows you to combine the best of both worlds: a game where you can build without stress and with ease, and a game where you can observe with pleasure the result of your work. If the phase of the school year turns out to be more idle than the summer holidays, it allows you to appreciate the excellent work on the atmosphere, the animations and the personalization of your campus. The game is funny and does not fall into the classic repetitiveness of the genre, thanks to its powerful construction tools and its scenarios that know how to renew themselves in terms of decor and gameplay. With this Nintendo Switch 2 version, Street Fighter 6 offers a portable version that lives up to other machines, but not on all levels. If the image is less fine than on PC/PS5/XSX, the high frame rate makes the fights as playable as on other machines, as much for playing alone, in local multiplayer or online. On the other hand, it is more on the World Tour where the shoe pinches because of clashes in 30 frames per second which clash with the fluidity of exploration. And if we can criticize the absence of a directional cross on the console, it does not prevent Street Fighter 6 on Nintendo Switch 2 from being a very good port which proves that the machine has the power it needs to accommodate titles available on other platforms, unlike its big sister, even the most competitive ones.

It is difficult to write a comprehensive review when the game’s greatest strengths revolve around surprise. Yet with *Super Mario Bros. Wonder*, Nintendo delivers a near-perfect performance. Nearly fifteen years after New Super Mario Bros. Wii, this new installment sees the 2D platforming series return to a level of true excellence. While remaining faithful to its roots—preserving its devilishly simple yet effective gameplay—it introduces fresh ideas that hit the mark perfectly. The entire presentation evokes a musical, constantly dazzling the player in both form and substance. Mario has truly ventured into a wonderland—and we have gone right along with him.

If it sometimes lacks a little originality in terms of content, but there is still a lot of it, it all makes it one of the best 3D fighting games of recent years. Its new features in terms of gameplay are enough to stand out from previous opuses and hold its own against its competitors, all with vast content that is still substantial enough to play for dozens of hours. And as long as you are addicted to online confrontations, Tekken 8 really has something to satisfy and challenge you for a very, very long time! Path of Exile 2, more accessible and visually appealing than its predecessor, remains a complex old-school game that will appeal to fans of muscular combat. This difficulty, which is nevertheless the heart of the game, can however discourage newcomers or people who are not used to taking their heads. It remains ideal for those looking for a long-term experience, it might not suit casual players or fans of simplified mechanics like Diablo 4. Is the €27.75 supporter pack worth it despite the future free game? Yes, because it already offers much more than some recent AA or AAA. In early access, Path of Exile 2 still promises a lot (narration, new classes, end-game content, bug fixes). For an optimal and free experience, you can also wait for the final version. Solasta 2 is a role-playing game brimming with promise—potential just waiting to be realized—though bringing it to fruition will require time: both development time and playtime, in the hope of fulfilling the dreams of Dungeons & Dragons and RPG fans alike. More linear than other titles in the genre, it leverages its original setting, its fidelity to D&D, and its tactical combat as its true strengths. Unfortunately, the lack of freedom, the still-limited playtime, and the bugs encountered serve as reminders of its current state: that of an Early Access title. Thanks to its colorful pixel art graphics, detailed animations and polished soundtrack, the Hibernian Workshop title offers pleasant environments to browse. However, the fights are not left out since the game offers nervous gameplay and many build possibilities that make each run interesting. The FPS, yet using a particularly aging engine, therefore takes all the codes of its ancestors with bravery to allow players to evolve in levels built with intelligence, to participate in joyful and dynamic clashes and to observe sublime panoramas. However, taking the old formula literally, the title is sorely lacking in identity. We will then have to face a universe that we have already crossed 100 times. In this first version released in Early Access, inZOI reveals itself to be an ambitious project, rich in innovative ideas and with undeniable potential. The graphics are stunning, and the character creator and the build mode are already very enjoyable to play. However, the game also highlights significant shortcomings, both technically and conceptually. The artificial intelligence lacks substance, and the open world, despite its size, is desperately empty and not very interactive. Social relationships, the pillar of life simulations, suffer from enormous inconsistencies and bugs that mar the experience. We can only believe in the promise of continuous improvements, supported by a detailed roadmap, which suggests a brighter future. As it stands, Super Dungeon Maker lays a solid foundation that early access will have to flesh out for the title to reveal its potential. Quite limited at the moment, whether in tutorials or elements and sometimes imprecise in its construction mode, the title of Firechick nevertheless has enough functions to create original and slightly complex dungeons, as evidenced by certain creations of the community which was able to push the game to its limits. It only remains for Super Dungeon Maker to remain attentive to the feedback of its followers, as is already the case today and to take advantage of early access to give substance to its ambitions. If you like first-person stealth/action games that leave plenty of room for creativity and the “retro” graphic style doesn't scare you, you can try Gloomwood's early access without any worries. This Victorian “Dishonored/Thief”, with an atmosphere close to a survival-horror, already benefits from an exceptional level design, making it possible to vary the approaches widely. The desire to offer “early 2000s PC gaming” sensations is there, very clearly, with however the necessary adjustments for a title coming out in 2022. The result is a mixture of very pleasant sensations, as if our Pentium MMX had miraculously crossed the ages, and that developers continued to release games there against all odds. However, we must be aware that this early access, impeccably clean, is only a big prologue and that the best is surely to come. [Early Access Score = 80]
