Mar 27, 2022GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon doesn’t feel like it adds anything new to the side-scrolling roguelike genre; for some, that’s just fine. Not everything needs to be high-octane-melt-your-brain gameplay, right? GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon instead feels like playing a beautifully painted Japanese wall scroll come to life, its colors slowly meandering across the screen as they melt into one graceful bloodpit at the bottom. If you prefer form over function or are just curious about this Eastern franchise finally coming West, GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is ready to slash up a good time.

Feb 22, 2022It didn’t succeed in completely killing my enthusiasm for a new game in a forgotten series. No. It just made me want a deeper, more polished experience, and that’s not the worst thing for a game to do.

Mar 8, 2022GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is a gorgeous game with solid side-scrolling combat, but its genre shift to the roguelike form hasn't paid off. The progression system is slow and the upgrades you obtain are pretty deal, leading to a roguelike experience that doesn't do enough to incentivise sticking with it for very long.

May 24, 2021What a brilliant art design! But the conceptually cool fights against Yokai etc in this Early Access version are not at the level of Dead Cells, yet. [Review in Progress score = 78]

May 18, 2021GetsuFumaDen : Undying Moon announces about a year of updates before it reaches its truly final version. These future patches will be necessary to correct the progression and balance of the game, which respectively prove to be too laborious and too punitive at the moment. But these very real flaws do not prevent Konami's rogue-like from being very pleasant already. [Early Access Review Score = 75]

May 13, 2021GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon has potential, for sure. It will only take a few tweaks and additional rooms to become a highly commendable Rogue-lite. As it stands, we mainly regret the jumps that are a little too steep, and the ergonomic and questionable balancing choices. But these are the kinds of grievances that can easily be mitigated as an early access phase progresses. For the rest, it offers pleasant fights and a rich bestiary, straight out of Japanese folklore.
