Jan 21, 2026One thing I was the most excited for was the updates to crafting and design that 3.0 was set to provide and oh my goodness did it deliver.

Jan 20, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons remains the great game that captivated the world. It's arguably the best title in the series and in the entire genre. This Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is the perfect opportunity for new players to join in the delightful experience it offers, although the lack of significant new exclusive content will likely deter veteran players who had already moved on from their islands.

Jan 27, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition does not seek to reinvent the original; rather, it aims to provide a smoother experience for Switch 2 owners looking to play under the best possible conditions. Moreover, it serves as a great excuse for those wanting to return to a highly entertaining virtual life.

Jan 20, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 Edition is a game of two halves. If you’re new to the franchise, this is one of the best social simulators available and an essential purchase for fans of the genre. Packed with content, there’s absolutely loads to do. The 3.0 update is great, and when mixed with the steady stream of content and addictive gameplay loop, you’ll quickly lose hours on the faraway island. If you own the original, the update doesn’t offer much, but at the low price, it’s still probably worth the $5.

Feb 27, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch 2 doesn't reinvent its gameplay, but it polishes it with visual improvements, expanded multiplayer, and a free update that breathes new life into the game. While its new features are conservative and some of the Switch's capabilities feel underutilized, the low cost of the upgrade and the solid content keep it as the definitive experience in the series.

Jan 25, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons remains a deeply comforting experience, and in 2026, it’s still easy to get lost on your island. The free 3.0 update adds meaningful content and long-requested quality-of-life improvements that certainly offer more than enough content for both new and returning players. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition itself is more modest, focusing on stability, visual clarity, and convenience rather than new gameplay. Together, they form the most complete and comfortable version of New Horizons to date.

Jan 20, 2026I find it difficult to recommend anyone to get the Switch 2 Edition unless they know they play New Horizon a lot and just want the same thing, but a little bit better. And the free content from Version 3.0 is, as I said, free, but it really feels like Nintendo has just tried to create content with a lot of grind to make it take time rather than be entertaining, and the Quality of Life stuff really should have been included from the start.
