Jan 21, 2026One thing I was the most excited for was the updates to crafting and design that 3.0 was set to provide and oh my goodness did it deliver.
-
Jan 20, 2026Basically, Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 is all about decorating and designing, and that really is the core of the franchise. If this is something you love, then the update is for you.

Jan 20, 2026In the end, my disappointment with the content in the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack has done nothing to harm my love for the game, and I fully intend to keep playing for many, many more hours into the future. That’s why this review still gets 5/5 stars. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a masterful experience that feels like a warm hug and – if you’ve spent a long time away – like coming home to friends and family who have been waiting to see you...If, for some reason, you’ve never touched the game, or you stopped playing shortly after release, I highly recommend coming back in and seeing what’s new. And you might as well upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition while you’re at it. Maybe you’ll have better luck with the megaphone than I did.

Jan 20, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons remains the great game that captivated the world. It's arguably the best title in the series and in the entire genre. This Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is the perfect opportunity for new players to join in the delightful experience it offers, although the lack of significant new exclusive content will likely deter veteran players who had already moved on from their islands.

Jan 15, 2026The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Animal Crossing: New Horizons doesn’t revolutionize the game, but it does refine it where it matters most: reduced loading times, 4K resolution, and a mouse mode that significantly improves decorating. The 30 FPS cap remains due to backward compatibility, but the end result is the most solid and recommended version for anyone looking for a long-lasting island experience.

Feb 6, 2026I’m thrilled that Switch 2 owners get a chance to enjoy the OG Switch’s best games, but whether or not the Switch 2 update breathes life into Animal Crossing: New Horizons remains to be seen. The 12-player online play is nice in theory, but it’s far from enjoyable thanks to Nintendo’s archaic approach to online play. The Megaphone and mouse-capability are nice-to-have changes, taking some of the pain out from relying on Joy-Cons for minute adjustments. The biggest benefits of the Switch 2 upgrade are its pro-consumer pricing and its utilization of the console’s processing power.
-
Jan 27, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition does not seek to reinvent the original; rather, it aims to provide a smoother experience for Switch 2 owners looking to play under the best possible conditions. Moreover, it serves as a great excuse for those wanting to return to a highly entertaining virtual life.

Jan 25, 2026Whether you’re starting a fresh island on the Switch 2 or hopping back in on your OG Switch, it’s never been a better time to get back into the daily swing of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Jan 23, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch 2 isn't a revolution, but thanks also to the 3.0 update, it proves to be the most solid and accessible version of the game, ideal for veterans and newcomers.

Jan 22, 2026Between its update and its Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Animal Crossing New Horizons has been significantly polished up. Nintendo has finally taken fan feedback into account to greatly improve the gaming experience. For those who have played the game before 2026, all the quality-of-life improvements will be a real relief. Additionally, the new modes further enrich the range of activities already available at launch. This has significantly extended the game's length, making it worth restarting or even starting a new game today. A true timeless classic. It has once again established itself as a must-have title that is more enjoyable than ever on the new Big N console.
-
Jan 20, 2026A welcome but very minor improvement for the best Animal Crossing game and while the free Update 3.0 adds plenty of new features the time seems ripe for a full-blown sequel.

Jan 20, 2026Returning to Animal Crossing on the Switch 2 is like rekindling a flame we thought had gone out. The archipelago has never been so resplendent, enhanced by 4K graphics that make every corner irresistible, despite the controls stubbornly clinging to their old ways. But no matter: between the vibrant atmosphere of the Admiral Hotel and the complete freedom of the Dream Islands mode, which arrives at just the right time, this version offers the breath of fresh air needed to break the routine. We're simply happy to have found such a wonderful reason to return. While this version isn't strictly essential, once you've tried it, it's hard to go back.

Jan 20, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons has already been a great game at its release in 2020, but with the free update to version 3.0 it's even better. Including 12 instead of 8 players online, little better graphics and shorter loading times the Switch 2 has a small extra plus over the also updated Switch 1.
-
Jan 16, 2026The Nintendo Switch 2 edition doesn't bring huge changes, but it integrates console-exclusive features and makes the game shine in 4K – and all at a very low price.
-
Jan 20, 2026Quotation forthcoming.

Feb 27, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch 2 doesn't reinvent its gameplay, but it polishes it with visual improvements, expanded multiplayer, and a free update that breathes new life into the game. While its new features are conservative and some of the Switch's capabilities feel underutilized, the low cost of the upgrade and the solid content keep it as the definitive experience in the series.

Jan 20, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition brings the relaxing island life experience to Switch 2 with clear improvements. The game keeps its calm, daily gameplay while adding 4K visuals in docked mode, more stable performance, and multiplayer for up to 12 players. Mouse support and social features like GameChat and CameraPlay offer more control options without changing how the game plays. With quality-of-life updates and deeper customization, this is the most complete version of New Horizons, perfect for players looking for a cozy and creative escape.

Jan 20, 2026It's like when you catch a small, insignificant fish; you barely notice its flavor... Putting that aside, and rhymes aside too, Animal Crossing New Horizons seems to have reached its natural conclusion. Hopefully, it will continue to receive new content, but if this is a farewell, it's been a true pleasure to have lived this delightful island life for so many years.

Jan 20, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 Edition is a game of two halves. If you’re new to the franchise, this is one of the best social simulators available and an essential purchase for fans of the genre. Packed with content, there’s absolutely loads to do. The 3.0 update is great, and when mixed with the steady stream of content and addictive gameplay loop, you’ll quickly lose hours on the faraway island. If you own the original, the update doesn’t offer much, but at the low price, it’s still probably worth the $5.
-
Jan 22, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons is as good as it always has been. The Switch 2 port still earns its praise, of course, but not because of any standout next-gen additions or mechanics. Returning players should expect largely the same experience as their first playthrough, while newcomers will find a charming and thoroughly enjoyable customization craze waiting for them.
-
Jan 30, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons is as addictive as ever and the new quality of life improvements make the return to its quaint charms that much more alluring.
-
Jan 25, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons remains a deeply comforting experience, and in 2026, it’s still easy to get lost on your island. The free 3.0 update adds meaningful content and long-requested quality-of-life improvements that certainly offer more than enough content for both new and returning players. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition itself is more modest, focusing on stability, visual clarity, and convenience rather than new gameplay. Together, they form the most complete and comfortable version of New Horizons to date.
-
Jan 21, 2026Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition does not do a complete reworking or revolutionise the original classic, but it delivers an amount of improvements and new content that make this new edition a joy to play. The visual upgrade makes everything more pleasant to look, despite the framerate remaining the same, and the quicker loading times help making the experience swifter. The new areas and increased storage capacity, as well as the ability to invite more neighbours and improved control system further contribute to make this the ultimate way to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
