Though it will not win any awards for its gameplay, this game is a real treat. It encapsulates the heart and spirit of what wonderful things can be done with an indie game. Its rougher edges and rustier bits can be frustrating, but if you want to play one of the most unique titles of the year, then you could do a whole lot worse than Bartlow’s Dread Machine on Xbox One.- TheXboxHub

If you enjoy a sudoku, here is another way to take on a puzzle or two. If you aren’t a fan though, there is nothing extra here to tempt you. There is a nice twist on it being based on the letter format rather than that of the number, but ultimately this is sudoku with an Xbox controller. Nothing more and nothing less.- TheXboxHub

WWE 2K Battlegrounds on Xbox One brings a fast-paced arcade wrestling game to the market, which features a greatly diverse roster, a decent variety of modes and moves that pack a punch. Sadly, the bulk of the gameplay takes a while to get to grips with and even then, it becomes monotonous after a short length of time. The limited access to the roster doesn’t help in that sense, nor does the utterly bland narrative.- TheXboxHub

Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure on Xbox One takes the rotten core of a blockbreaker game and straps on a cracking story, great music, boss battles and some new approaches. But that rotten core still stinks, and you’ll get a whiff every now and again, as the infuriation and the tedium seep through. If you’re a Sacred Symbols fan, or you’ve still got love for games like Arkanoid, it may be just enough to warrant a purchase.- TheXboxHub

For those that have missed their Harvest Moon gameplay fix over the years, or for newcomers to the series as it makes its full debut on Xbox consoles, Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition Complete is a very good place to start. WARSAW on Xbox One is a welcome release even though there are no shortage of games set in World War II. I have found Mars Power Industries Deluxe to be both compelling and interesting to play. There are moments where I found things a bit too simple and the gameplay fast gets too familiar, but then the game turns itself on its head and starts to push the boundaries of what it's trying to be. There is a lot of game here for the amazingly cheap price, and I love the way it creates a strange narrative through its bare minimal, wordless, visuals.- TheXboxHub

Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock is an awesome game – at least when played on the platform it was built for. On Xbox One though, with the limited controls available, it’s still an engaging strategy game, but it really struggles with the sheer complexity that is at hand.- TheXboxHub

eFootball PES 2021 Season Update on Xbox One should be overlooked by those who own PES 2020 because it’s not worth the hassle of starting all over again for a selection of kits and partially updated squads. On the other hand, the gameplay and the modes combined with the updates makes it slightly more alluring to newcomers who haven’t experienced any of it. Even then it’s not a must-have and you may be best picking up PES 2020 on the cheap.- TheXboxHub

I’m of the opinion that you should score a game for the audience it’s made for, and Trollhunters: Defenders of Arcadia on Xbox One is a pre-teen game that delivers on what its audience wants. It’s a brisk romp through all of the best characters and locations in the game, with barely a hiccup along the way. What it sacrifices in complexity or any kind of innovation, it gains in player-friendliness and an adventure that - for the kids in this house, anyway - will make them want to hack, slash and jump all the way to the end.- TheXboxHub

Port Royale 4 on Xbox One delivers a shockingly great time. I feel that many will skip past this title because it looks niche or too complicated, but truly this is a streamlined and swashbuckling affair that provides a good time throughout. I immediately started having fun with practically no learning curve needed, as it drew me into a system of trade routes, town management, and naval combat. It’s a unique and engaging mixture that provides hours of strategy.- TheXboxHub

The Secret Order: Return to the Buried Kingdom on Xbox One acts like a strong trailer for hidden object gaming: it’s easy to pick up, the puzzles are a pleasure to interact with, and Artifex Mundi have mastered the systems that surround it. Ultimately, Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don't Die on Xbox One has put me in a bit of a sticky situation. It’s often the case that the best puzzle games have the simplest of concepts. ReactorX on Xbox One casts doubt on that. In fact, I struggle to think of anything that the game does particularly well. It’s a puzzle game - and a short one at that - without any real challenge, it’s got some of the worst controls I have experienced, and the graphics are nothing remarkable. The fact is, unless you’re interested in the quick and easy 1000 Gamerscore on offer, there is no real reason to pick ReactorX up.- TheXboxHub

The world of darkness is a fascinating one filled with dark entities, brutal backstabs and a surprising humanity underneath it all, as cheesy as that sounds. Spark the Electric Jester 2 on Xbox One is an admirable effort from an indie gaming standpoint, as creating even a functional 3D platformer is a tough task even for a fully budgeted development studio. The game manages to execute its ideas with much success, and ultimately as flawed as the many moving parts may be, they all come together to create a memorable whole, especially when it is backed by excellent soundtrack presentation.- TheXboxHub

Tin & Kuna on the Xbox One is cute enough that the little ones will love the colours on screen, but devilish enough that you probably shouldn’t play it when they are within earshot. The Suicide of Rachel Foster on Xbox One is a bit of an odd one because the story is decent enough and certainly very intriguing. It’s hard to be too critical of Golf Zero on Xbox One however, because at just under a fiver, there’s a really fun platformer here with responsive controls and a neat fusion with golf that’s fresh. The gradual increase in difficulty provides a good challenge and the short levels mean that failing isn’t bothersome in the slightest. On the flipside, you’ll be finished in a couple of hours, the settings are rather plain, and Speed Run mode might as well not be there.- TheXboxHub

GORSD on the Xbox One is an essential purchase for those looking for some local multiplayer fun. Minoria on Xbox One is a worthy entry in the broader Momodora canon. The Commandos 2 & Praetorians HD Remaster Double Pack on Xbox One has one average game, and one way past its sell by date. Commandos 2 has certainly aged but has enough neat little additions that it looks like a spring chicken in comparison with Praetorians. There’s a lot to love in Party Panic. It’s garish and hilarious, and there’s so much value in its many game modes and 33 minigames. But boil away the more ramshackle of them and you’re left with a solid dozen, all of which have been done - and better - in Mario Party. Tell Me Why on Xbox One is DONTNOD's strongest game to date. Behind all of the technical trouble of Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Definitive Edition is a really great CRPG that honors its heritage and feels like a 90's CRPG release - the kind of thing that could stand right next to the classic greats. While it's certainly not as good as some of those seminal titles, it does come close and is a great time to anyone who wants to party up and venture into a wild and dynamic fantasy world. It’s just a shame that technical aspects stop that from happening.- TheXboxHub

Drake Hollow on Xbox One is one of the hardest games to put down this year. It has a brilliant set of systems that keep you engrossed in the action and invested in your personal world. There are plenty of Drakes to meet, unique items and buildings to craft, and battles to be won.- TheXboxHub

Gryphon Knight Epic: Definitive Edition on Xbox One probably only has a strong appeal to those that like this sort of game, and doesn’t really offer enough that is new, interesting or involving for newer players, nor for those that don’t really care for a tough as nails challenge. But you do get to ride a gryphon though.- TheXboxHub

For a Ratalaika port, Even the Ocean on the Xbox One is a true hidden gem. Part platforming and part deep, engrossing story, it's a real surprise. Aliph is thrown into the deep end in her new job and surrounding her is a supporting cast that is extremely well-written.- TheXboxHub

Where Swamps of Corsus relied on repetition to get maximum enjoyment out of Survival mode, Remnant's Subject 2923 feels a lot shorter in comparison. But don’t let that put you off; it is still packed with the same hardcore gameplay as the main game. And with Reisum offering a brand-new area, there is plenty to see and do. It is a fitting end to a very underrated game, but one that hopefully spawns a sequel on the next generation.- TheXboxHub

Mask of Mists on Xbox One is pretty disappointing. Its puzzles are uninspired, the sound design is rough, the monsters are boring, and the entire game just feels hollow. It is not a game that feels like it has an interesting story or experience to share with the player. The greatest quality I can think of is that it has some well-designed environments that are easy to navigate. Yet, when the game is not fun to play, why bother sticking around?- TheXboxHub

If you're looking for a golf game to play, there is only one title you should be bothering with - PGA TOUR 2K21. As a golf simulation there is nothing else on the market to beat it, and much of that is down to the power of The Golf Club.- TheXboxHub

Ultimately, The Explorer of Night on Xbox One is a fundamentally solid adventure with its fair share of issues that prevent it from standing out. But as mentioned, there is plenty to admire in minimalism.- TheXboxHub

By ditching much of the hardcore sim superstructure, what is left is is a fun, accessible racing game that can easily be mentioned in the same breath as Forza Motorsport. It’s fast, good-looking and, with the exception of some dim-witted AI, super fun to play. If you are in the market for a racing game, you can do a lot worse than Project CARS 3.- TheXboxHub

It would have been difficult to make a case for this lightweight, unfinished game at a budget price point, but £14.99 for a game that’s a painful fart in the wind makes it a hard ‘no’. Find a copy of Bloodstained, Dead Cells, Hollow Knight or anything else, really, and you will have dodged an hour-long headache with Gleamlight on Xbox One.- TheXboxHub

Ultimately, Hexagroove: Tactical DJ on Xbox One doesn’t feel fully contained in what it is. It tries to offer engaging gameplay and adaptive songs, but never really delivers either. When given the choice between the big bang ending or fade out, Hexagroove quietly fizzles away on the sidelines.- TheXboxHub

There is a lot of football to be had in Madden NFL 21 on the Xbox One, and when you are on the field, the football is good. EA have created a game that if you have 15 minutes or a couple of hours, they want you tossing their digital pigskin. From modes like The Yard and MUT that offer quicker challenges to a full simulation in either Franchise mode, you will be spoilt for choice. Sadly though, they’re not all good choices. MUT is the big money earner, so receives the most TLC, but this comes at a cost to all other modes.- TheXboxHub

I think the most important thing to keep in mind when playing Windbound on Xbox One is that there is a bit of an adjustment period to picking up the game. I didn’t boot it up and immediately fall in love with it; the visuals and premise drew me in, while the mechanics took some adjustment. But after a while everything begins to feel pretty good.- TheXboxHub

I have been thoroughly impressed by the quality of the work on offer with Through the Darkest of Times on Xbox One. It takes you on an unforgettable journey through the eyes of those Berliners who didn't like what was happening to their country, desperate for change and the world to see the truth. It may not be for all but it's important that games like this are made.- TheXboxHub

With a time-bending approach to the twin-stick shooter, it looked like The Ambassador: Fractured Timelines on Xbox One would be really spoiling us. Instead, we get a slow-paced example of the genre, whose best ideas never quite develop beyond its first hour.- TheXboxHub

Mortal Shell on Xbox One has delivered a hugely enjoyable and frustratingly, pad bitingly, hard experience. Hyper Scape on Xbox One feels like it tries new ideas but fails to implement them in any effective way, and frankly even if they were well-optimized, it’s still not enough to make it stand out from the rest of the pack. This is a perfectly serviceable battle royale, but it is just that – serviceable.- TheXboxHub

Spitlings on Xbox One is a fairly unique proposition. I certainly can't think of another game I've played where spitting teeth is your primary weapon, and with the myriad of levels, mutators and Spitlings to go at, there’s no shortage of content. However, at around level 30, deja vu does begin to set in, and the game doesn't really manage to surprise any more. Still, with some friends it’s a blast, and the single player does enough to keep you wanting to play.- TheXboxHub

Stones of the Revenant on Xbox One is a fun way to get a blast from the past and kill some time. It presents a challenge that can be enjoyed solo or with a friend in local co-op. I enjoyed my run through the game and trying out all the characters, and even with a few issues here and there Stones of the Revenant is still a good time for platforming fans.- TheXboxHub
