It’s hard to be too critical of Golf Zero on Xbox One however, because at just under a fiver, there’s a really fun platformer here with responsive controls and a neat fusion with golf that’s fresh. The gradual increase in difficulty provides a good challenge and the short levels mean that failing isn’t bothersome in the slightest. On the flipside, you’ll be finished in a couple of hours, the settings are rather plain, and Speed Run mode might as well not be there.

Golf Zero manages to be an entertaining spin on golfing, adding in extra platforming elements while removing every other aspect if videogame golf to worry about. It offers a good little challenge, especially adding in the extra objectives, though they are only really there for completionists. Aside from the horrendous audio, I had some fun with Golf Zero, and – cheevo hunter or not – it’s worth a look in my book.

Golf Zero isn’t terrible but it's not too well done in the end. The levels/holes are quite short, it takes a bit of skill but I found it all to feel a bit too inconsistent and like two games have been sewn together to create Golf Zero. With a lack of drive or story, very little replayability and simple presentation, I find it hard to recommend to anyone other than trophy hunters or someone looking for affordable gaming that can be enjoyed in short bursts on the Xbox One. Not all bad but better golf experiences even on the Xbox for similar price points. Expand
