The brand new Double Gear System breezes a fresh wind on the still satisfying classic mechanics of the series. With twisted boss fights and four very well-though difficulty modes, only the very meh soundtracks might deter you from calling back this old pal.

11-11: Memories Retold chooses to tell the story on the ground, through the eyes of simple human beings embedded in a conflict so much bigger than them. French studio DigixArt delivers a memorable adventure, served by a remarkable and right writing and acting, superb impressionist visuals from Aardman Animations,and one of the best soundtrack of the year. Too bad that its core gameplay really lacks of challenge and that there's still some persistent bugs. But there could be no better way to celebrate peace in 2018.

At first sight, Gran Turismo 6 looks like an updated version of its predecessor. But as soon as you take the wheel, this episode drives you to a whole new world of racing sensations.

Lords of Shadow 2 didn't succeed in outrivaling the first episode. But it is indeed a great game, beautiful and interesting, with some flaws (mostly the stealth sequences) that can be annoying at times, but never prevent the player from a desire to run to the end of the story and explore this pleasant open world.

The Dark Pictures - Man of Medan applies the Until Dawn recipe to a smaller and cheaper game, with cooperative features, and the results are very good.

Like its PS5 Pro version, FF7 Rebirth PC allows you to combine Performance and Fidelity, and does so overall better than its console counterpart, at all levels. We can, however, regret the absence of AMD's FSR, Ray Tracing effects or Frame Generation, at least at its launch, as well as some small visual hiccups. The fact that the game is Steam Deck Verified is on the other hand a huge plus. If the compromises of the original PS5 put you off or if you were waiting for it to come out on PC to enjoy it in the best possible conditions, the latest game in Square Enix's flagship franchise is overall clearly worth the investment.

The high-score chasing shooter Super Stardust returns to PlayStation 4 with enhanced visuals, 1080p resolution, and buttery 60 frames per second gameplay. Yummy.

A great DLC that reestablishes the balance between action, platforming and puzzles. Even if the scenario is not really surprising, Alucard is classy and we wish we could have some more time with him in the castle. Maybe next time.

It feels so good to see that in between the all-narrative, all-simulation or all-blockbuster experiences, alternate paths like Mizuguchi's Child of Eden, supported by a big name like Ubisoft, still exist. It's something that, much like Rez before, we'd recommend playing with a controller for the vibrations that intensify the thrill of the music and images, even though it works well with Kinect. The only downside is that it really short, even though its intensity makes up for it.

KOF XIII on PC is the best version of the game. All the DLC are included and the net code has been deeply improved. The real 2D versus games lovers will love it.

Released long after the successive reissues of the other two Final Fantasy of the PlayStation, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered does not suffer from the defects found in these different versions (loop music, mobile interface of bad taste ...) and therefore legitimately bears his name. Nothing extraordinary compared to the original game, no additional content offered to fans for example, but a new quality varnish that enhances the original experience and allows you to dive in the best way possible.

But if you do, the gameplay finesse, subtle exploration vibe, well-thought customization system, and fulfilling power grinding proposed by its dark and enticing world are reason enough to dive back in and try to master the game. The online gameplay is brilliant and fresh, and all in all, if you can put up with the first few punishing hours and figure out how to work the game correctly, its multiple endings, old school vibe and memorable boss battles will reward you with this beloved feeling of being a real achiever. Thank you From Software, for this gift to hardcore gamers.

No need to Argue, Continuum Shift is a real gem, like its predecessor was. Its 2D visuals are more impressive than ever, is gameplay modes comprehensive, its characters unique and the changes they went through balanced the game enough to make it one of the top fighting games on HD consoles. Even the Online Versus play has been enhanced, and is now more comfortable, with solo play in-between duels like in SSFIV. Last but not least, BBCS has tutorial modes and a system to ease some combos, to ease in newcomers and make it more accessible.

The Consequence continues on the path of the first opus, with a new way of playing. The balance between infiltration phases and action is better here. But there are also the same problems with A.I.

By making some interesting changes and staying true to its nature, with its solid database, Football Manager 2021 is, as expected, the game that every football fan will need and play, without being disappointed.

Every year, the NBA 2K saga is a great priestess of sports games simulations. It is difficult to imagine that the outcome will change this year, when the basic recipe remains the same. What was less predictable is that NBA 2K25 sows some seeds of improvement rather well come, notably in the accessibility of the game and its universe, in the approach to certain modes and especially, in the overall gameplay. NBA 2K25 is fun to play, more affordable than its predecessor, as long as you take the time to learn and set your gaming experience, and it gives players a little more freedom in how they live their Career or GM role. But we expect better for the women’s circuit, better in the pay-to-win balance. A margin of improvement to be sought next year, who knows?

Transport Fever 2 is a game that will be appreciated in the long term. No doubt it will evolve over several years with a very dense content that will have to be explored. At a time when the player is taken by the hand systematically and where frustration is only little accepted by the players, TF2 asks you to dig, to search and to experiment. A little more information on how to manage railway flows and crossings would probably have benn a good idea. But the satisfaction of seeing that everything is working properly, the optimization of lines and routes are all rewards for your efforts. The fever is going up and it's not because you're sick.

This third episode delivers a new pace to the series and puts the player under a pressure that really changes the experience. Fine dialogues, new characters, new clues and an enraged Bigby, this is what makes "A Crooked Mile" an indubitable milestone for The Wolf Among Us.

More of a 1.5 episode than a true sequel duo, White 2 and Black 2 still are very satisfying for the fans or those who haven't played a Pokméon for some time, thanks to nice additions and a successful blend of gameplay elements.

Twenty five years after the last episode, Streets of Rage sure is back. Plants vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville is a beautiful title. We have fun online with different modes of play. Teamplay is important but playing alone s not be the key to success. A time of adaptation is required to master the game and its gameplay. There are a lot of things to do in the game and the title takes on a more significant scale when played with friends. A good surprise in short.

Treyarch did a good job with the Wii U version of CoD Black Ops 2. Once again, NBA 2K becomes inevitable. it only fix a few things in terms of mechanics and content but it's enough to offer the best gameplay in the series so far.

What a formidable tribute this Pac-Man Championship Edition DX is for the 30th birthday of Pac-Man. Addictive, thrilling, psychedelic, this frenzy-inducing downloadable title reinvents the classic gameplay with subtleness, without spoiling the substance of the original. Being able to refresh such an oldie without crushing it... kudos !

This second episode was worth the wait. Maxine's adventure becomes more and more interesting and quite difficult to be left. Technical issues are almost forgotten as we progress in this lovely world full of great characters and capable of surprising us with its scenario and game system. It's already too hard to wait for the next episode.

Mass Effect 2 is one of the greatest games of 2010 on the 360 and the PC, and remains so on the PS3. Epic, thrilling, the original story of this space adventure has been enhanced with the inclusion of the DLC add-ons already released on the other platforms. A must-have.

Wreckfest is out of its early access, but there is still work to do, especially to give it a real "soul" in solo mode. It is far above all the competition in rendering physical damage on cars. It offers hours of discoveries and online racing.

Atomic Heart is not just another Russian Bioshock, although it certainly draws a lot of inspiration from it. Mundfish's game actually has a deeper lore than it appears and is interesting. The stakes won't break any bones, but they are more than enough to keep us on our toes. Our hero and his sidekick are talkative, but never heavy-handed and the game constantly oscillates between drama, reflection and humour, and it works. Visually, it's a hit. The art direction is insane and technically, it's superb on PS5. The details are legion, and the game impresses on many levels, notably with its special effects (light, pyrotechnics, blur, etc.) but also with its animations, some of which are truly amazing. So, yes, there are a few glitches like a handful of not-so-great textures, residual bugs or rhythm problems, especially during the cutscenes which are often very average, or even failed for some. But despite this, it's hard not to get a kick out of it. Atomic Heart remains a sure thing. An excellent surprise even.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will not be as memorable as the first reboot because it's doing quite the same things without taking risks, but it's still a really great game.

" Beginners are advised to start with Dragon Quest V, which is shorter and less dificult, before moving up to DQ6.

N++ may have simplistic graphics, it is anything but simple. With its combination of precise gameplay mechanics and hellish level design, N++ is a must have for platform games fans.

With its laborious gameplay, This War of Mine is not a game for everyone... but it's probably the most interesting game about War and the more engaged and efficient "serious game" so far.

You don’t change a winning team, and that’s almost exactly what EA Sports FC 25 is offering this season. The basis of the precedent is there, with changes that are more like adjustments than profound upheavals. The fun is there, the life of the title always as consistent and finally there is enough new material in each mode to invite you to experience. The big plus is the Rush mode, clearly, and we’ll have to see how EA Sports plans to exploit a well-promoted mode everywhere in the coming months to gauge its potential accurately. In the meantime, deep in love or not in love with the ball, you know what to do in a few days with your money. One more season.

This Strider Reboot is a complete success. Frantic, quite difficult and deeper than its predecessors, thanks to a Metroid-like structure, it brings Hiryu back to life with style.

Not the best version of Titanfall, but surprisly a good port.

Once again, this Musô title will be hated by many, and loved by a few. It's a very nice cross-over for fans of this beat'em all offspring, but one that will not appeal more to people who don't understand how others can enjoy playing Dynasty Warriors-like titles. But Warriors Orochi 3 knows how to please the fans.

Mutant Year Zero is a nice surprise. A very good tactical game with plenty of arguments to please fans of the genre. A beautiful artistic direction, interesting characters, a quality cast, an efficient and deep combat system, a dynamic exploration system... This is another approach to tactical and a must have for this type of game in 2018.

Neither a sequel nor a remake, A Link Between Worlds takes everything from the cult Super Nintendo Zelda game, but it does it in a beautiful way, with respect and fairness, offering a breathtaking adventure and ingenious dungeons. It doesn't exceed its model, but is still a must-have on 3DS.

It's hard not to give in and buy this HD remaster when you are a fan of the Resident Evil series. That's also the perfect occasion to discover a true masterpiece for everyone who hadn't played it yet. Some may say that except its graphical facelift, this new version lacks some real additions, and that's true, but Resident Evil is still a masterpiece and it's more enjoyable here than ever.

Thanks to a "back to the roots" formula, Criterion succeeded in restoring the right path for the Need for Speed series : the chase HQ style pursuits between the police and the crazed drivers. It manages to do this with an inspired approach, borrowing from the original game or more recent ones, like with the finesse and fun inducing in-game equipment. The Autolog feature is a true revolution community-wise, and the online play guaranties hours of added fun. Can we ask for more ? Yes ; a less "heavy" handling of the cars, for an even more dynamic urban rodeo. The best NFS game since the third installment.

Star Ocean The Second Story R is an excellent remake that strikes the perfect balance between reworking the base material and preserving a proven formula. The 2.5D graphics are a feast for the eyes, the music is mesmerizing, and is facing an effective story, but that can put off at first.

Yakuza Kiwami is a perfect example of a remake done right. The news graphics and added content give longtime fans of the series more than enough reasons to dive right back in Kamurocho's seedy underworld. And for new fans and curious gamers, Yakuza Kiwami is the perfect way to discover Kazuma Kiryu's first misadventures.

Skylanders SWAP Force is clearly the best episode in the series. The new SWAP Force figures represent a good addition in terms of fun and gameplay, the graphics are much better than in GIANTS, and there's also a lot more variety inside every levels. The only problem is still the same though: everything is done to make you want to buy new figures again and again... and buying them will cost you a lot!

Patapon 2 is still a very good game but the PS4 version lacks polish.

A little more attractive to newcomers, MLB The Show 19 is an immersive simulation that shines with a dazzling atmosphere, a great gameplay ans some good content. But if you have been playing the former iteration, you'll probably think it's more of the same.

Classicvanias and retro action games fans can give a chance to Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon on blind faith. This game is a beautiful, really enjoyable - even if it can considered a bit short - and vibrant tribute to Castlevania III : Dracula's Curse with some great action and platforming, beautiful 8-Bit graphics and musics, in a new setting that we hope will fulfill its potential with Ritual of the Night.

This second episode is as charming as the first one. An elegant and really enjoyable - but quite brief - experience that lets us in need for what's coming next.

No need to try to be more absurd, funnier and more disturbing than The Stanley Parable, let's just say that it's an adventure to live and relive, relive and relive again... and never get rid of this feeling of having missed something. Never.

After an average Dragon Rising episode, Codemasters corrects a lot of shortcomings and delivers, this time around, a more convincing tactical FPS. If the basics remain the same, with a similar technical side and order system, large and open environments, etc. the AI behaviors have been enhanced. This makes Red River a game that is still difficult, but less frustrating, and more immersive. It's also an experience you'll want to share online. The opportunity to play Brothers A Tale of Two Sons in local co-op is not a bad idea in itself, but the experience is less relevant since it was designed as a solo game at first, with a single player able to control two characters at the same time.

An amazing game. I would even dare to say that it is an amazing social experience. The idea of traveling, meeting new trainers and catch pokemons everywhere is simply too good to be true. Cannot wait to play it even more, I've never been so eager to go grocery shopping.

Gears of War will always be Gears of War. Almost ten years after the release of the original game, Gears of War's story and gameplay still work fine, and the graphics update makes it even better.

Age of Mythology Retold is a true nostalgic delight that will remind many players of the great times spent on the family PC, between school assignments or after an afternoon snack. It belongs to that category of titles that are unlikely to leave the podium of the best strategy games anytime soon.

The Challenges not only provide a detailed explanation of the items, they also reveal the gameplay's deepest secrets through an amazing level design. While the creation interface is slightly cramped, it remains an incredibly simple, funny and exhilarating way to build courses. However some important parts like the costumes and the online sharing option were removed, thus reducing the social reach of Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS to a local, pocketable level.

The handover took place the best way between Media Molecule and Sumo Digital: LittleBigPlanet 3 is more satisfying than ever with its strong story mode, its smart gameplay additions and its fantastic creation mode.

Punch Club is a pleasant surprise because of its excellent concept and design.

Developed over nearly a decade, the last episode of Kentucky Route Zero has finally arrived, and with it the complete edition of the game. It can almost be considered as an interactive fiction, but with a real attention given to the player and the meaning of its actions throughout the game. As a subjective experience, it also questions the connections between video games and other forms of art.

The Yakuza Remastered Collection is a must have for Yakuza fans old and new alike. Riveting stories, endearing characters, fun gameplay and tons of content can be found in all three games. And thanks to the power of the PS4, Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 have never looked so good.

If BioWare can deliver a good load balancing for the real launch of the game, The Old Republic is geared up for success: the franchise works as well as we'd have hoped, the game remains pretty classical, but well-rounded, and there's this added bonus of the BioWare games that we came to know and love: the story. Actually, Eight stories, one for each class, supported by other narrative elements for every quest. It makes for a massive content to discover, enough to remain occupied until BioWare fixes the little balancing issues, refines the interface, fixes some bugs and the like. With Wookies, it would have been nearly perfect for an MMO launch.

A reasonable price for a title that has a definite advantage: it has no real competition in the genre, and fans of Games Workshop won't hesitate for long. The online mode is rich and full, it has evolved over the patches, coaches' Rankings, league... If you like this universe, if you like strategy and if you can stand the injustice of the dice, go for it.

eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate. What better game to define the 4X genre than Stellaris? Creating and ruling your empire is brilliant in this game. On top of that, the music is beautiful.

The Zelda license returns magically to Nintendo Switch with a title that brings a welcomed breath of fresh air. Giving us the unprecedented opportunity to embody the Princess herself, Echoes of Wisdom carries the legacy of an entire license to which it brings its load of (small) new additions. Grezzo has succeeded in combining the feeling of dungeon exploration that many fans have been missing, with gameplay directly inspired by Tears of the Kingdom. In this way, the game manages to appeal to fans both past and present, for an experience which proves that even after almost 40 years, Nintendo's historic IPs know how to renew themselves and, above all, don't hesitate to dare. After such an opus, we can only ask for even more ambition for future 2D Zelda games.
