Eight years after its first appearance on PS3 and Xbox 360, the wild and exuberant Bayonetta lands on Nintendo Switch, and it hasn't lost a bit of its sexy charm. This new release can be appreciated wherever you want, with a solid and granitic 60 fps, and a better visual experience on the go.

Bayonetta is a stellar action-adventure game oozing with style and substance from start to finish. Newcomers may be put off by the portrayal of its title character, and the visuals are definitely starting to show their age, but the gameplay remains consistently brilliant throughout. A must-buy.

Bayonetta on the Switch is a fantastic port for handheld mode but there’s not much improved for TV gamers aside from load times.

While not as essential a port as Bayonetta 2, the first chapter in the series remains an incredible milestone in the action genre, and a must play for anyone who loves fast-paced and spectacular combat.

Bayonetta on Switch is a satisfying experience even today, despite the years on the shoulders of the beautiful witch. The portable version, even if with some smudging, manages to keep the fun in the massacre host of angels ready to war.

Bayonetta for Switch might not be the best version, but it's well worth playing for the first time.

It's like God of War in that it can be kind of button-mashy but it really isn't. The only way you can get through this game and button mash is if you turn the difficulty down; all the way down. To do well in this game in a normal difficulty you do have to think about your combos and the battle. Excellently done.

There is a natural progression to this game where things get more difficult and they add variety. There's even some fun mini-game type moments that add to the charm.

Some people have criticized her outfits and how revealing they are and normally I would agree with them (felt this way in Final Fantasy X-2 among other games) but I don't here. In witch lore their power comes through sexual means so for this character to be presented in this way makes sense.

There are good games, and there are great games. And then there are the games that other games are compared to. Bayonetta belongs to the thirdThere are good games, and there are great games. And then there are the games that other games are compared to. Bayonetta belongs to the third category.

Bayonetta takes a niche genre (the combo-centered fighting ballet first explored by Devil May Cry), and hones it to absolute perfection. You can love or hate this game, but you're unlikely to find a deeper, more refined and varied combat system. This is certainly one of the games I played the most in my life–hundreds of hours–and I still feel like I have a lot to learn in the area of fighting. The kicking and punching in Bayonetta can be just a video game, or it can ascend to the level of a hobby–something as nuanced and complex as playing a musical instrument.

All that mechanical virtuosity is even more striking in the context of Bayonetta's totally bonkers setting and story–one of the most amazingly Japanese-weird, sexual innuendo-ridden, embarrassingly badly-written scripts in gaming. Imagine, if you can, the most terrible B-movie you ever watched, the one that is fun to watch precisely because it's so bad. And now, imagine if that movie also had the most gripping non-stop action you've ever seen. If you can imagine that, then that's what Bayonetta feels like, from its hectic beginning to its insanely big ending.

You can decide for yourself how many layers deep you want to play Bayonetta. Do you want to just complete the game? Complete it at the highest difficulty, which makes it almost feel like a different game? Do you want to beat the “hidden game” of gaining Platinum trophies in every level? Are you ambitious enough to challenge the hidden boss, one of the hardest fights ever seen in a video game? Hundreds of pages of guidebooks came out for people who're looking to master the nuances of this game's mechanics, but even reading all of them doesn't guarantee perfect success.

You might never unlock everything and complete every challenge that Bayonetta throws at you. As an old man with limited controller skills, I'm comfortable with the knowledge that I'll never complete the Angel Slayer levels. That's OK, just as it's OK that I'll never land a handle pass on a kiteboard, or write code as good as the best programmers out there. We have limitations, and some games are good enough to make us bump into them.

But dammit, I beat the hidden boss. All those hours of training weren't spent in vain.

The game is about... you better find out yourself, just gonna say, sexual character who enjoys being sexy and funny without being sexist or insulting, mostly great humor, great characters (they don't do much besides Jeanne) but Lucah, Rodin and Enzo are more developed and lovable on the sequel.
Also the game is ridiculous but in a good way, like devil may cry 3, but a lot sexier and problably with a lot more of combos.
Also i love that it has a lot of unlockables that you pay with game from the game, and not a shop, or microtransactions, you buy the game and is complete, and the nintendo version has some skins (fox, mario1,mario2,link,samus) and they add moves to bayonetta (bigger changes on the sequel), also every skin of nintendo has a quirk, like being a morphball with bombs, charging the ui to starfox and have charging shots, changing halos to rupies, summoning bowser instead of demons, is all great fun.

Bayonetta was on my backlog for ages, so I finally decided to try it out... Unfortunately, things did not go as expected.

I'll get one thing out of the way: The combat is the saving grace of this game! It's flawless!
Fast-paced, tight controls, good combo variety, nice weapon moves, a dedicated dodge button that's actually useful and a freedom for improvisation and style that rivals the likes of Nier Automata and DMC 5. I don't even know how they'll improve on the second one, but people say they do.
Other than that, the soundtrack is catchy, characters are well designed, the pacing of each level is good and the whole game just goes STRAIGHT to the point from the start, no BS.

Unfortunately, this game felt like a mess to me. Everything is pretty unforgiving and recycled.
The writing is horrible! There's a story going on, but it makes no sense and the result is a forgettable tale. Characters like Bayonetta, Jeanne and Rodin are great, but almost every other (like Cerezita) are obnoxious. And every woman in this game is VERY SEXUALIZED! Too unnecessary and disrespectful. It just seems like they tried to make everything as over the top as possible and, in the end, made something... childish?

And while the combat is astonishing, there are huge flaws in the gameplay design.
Bosses are EPIC, but just for the sake of it, making for long, confusing and tedious fights. Environments are bland, reused, with dull puzzles and clueless moments. Bosses are also recycled and you have to fight them over and over again, sometimes one after another. Bullet hell moments outstay their welcome. There are huge unbalanced difficulty spikes throughout the campaign. The rewarding system is punishing and requires perfection. Some enemies are not fun AT ALL to fight and Bayonetta is made of PAPER, since her health goes down TOO FAST!
The game is fun, but very annoying. These flaws almost broke the experience for me. Everything is too uneven.

I thought I was going to love Bayonetta like I love DMC, but I was wrong.
While I loved the soundtrack, character design and the astounding combat system, the rest was very frustrating and I almost stopped playing it. But even if defective, there's a charm to it. Even if it tries to hard to find it.
