Aug 28, 2024Age of Mythology may have been a risk some 20 years ago, but remaking it was a no-brainer. Retold feels familiar but fresh, and the changes made all feel like they only improve on one of the franchise's best entries.

Aug 29, 2024A fantastic remake of a great strategy game where the gods themselves settle the score. Age of Mythology: Retold looks amazing, introduces plenty of new features that make the game more enjoyable than ever, and most importantly, proves that some games truly never age.
-
Aug 30, 2024Age of Mythology Retold is a faithful modernization of the 2002 original, capable of removing the dust from a true masterpiece of the past. The innovations made to the game mechanics are excellent, although reporting the presence of some bugs.

Oct 3, 2024Much as I like the Age of Empires games, Age of Mythology's god powers and myth units dial up the fun factor significantly. The dramatic graphical update and small but sensible gameplay tweaks in this Retold edition make it easy to recommend for new and returning players alike.

Sep 5, 2024Age of Mythology: Retold has made significant upgrades to its RTS formula. Expanding on pantheons by using the power of the gods more often lets you experience the true force. Improvements to accessibility means learning the basics is easier for newcomers to the series. While the experience stumbles with more advanced concepts and is perhaps too reliant on faith for victory, you can still learn as you go. Age of Mythology: Retold has never looked better for fans new and old.
-
Aug 27, 2024Somewhere between remaster and remake, Age of Mythology returns in its best version yet. The visual upgrade and quality of life improvements are fantastic additions, even though the single player campaign cannot hide its age.

Aug 27, 2024Age of Mythology Retold is fun, don’t get me wrong. The visual overhaul alone is enough to make playing this 22-year-old game easier, and the quality-of-life improvements sand down some of the older versions’ more annoying edges. However, with more substantial structural improvements in later Age of Empires games, plus with the likes of Ara: History Untold just around the corner, I’m just not sure Retold needed to exist.
