This ain't your grandfather's space strategy game. Stellaris opens up a whole new perspective on galactic conquest, and in doing so sets the bar for the genre for years to come.

Stellaris is simply wonderful. If you enjoy grand strategy games then you’ll love this. If you don’t then this could be the one to change your mind. If you’ve been too intimidated to try the genre before now, then here’s your ideal starting point.

Stellaris is immense, so deep and complex that sometimes is hard to picture all its possibilities. Without a doubt, this is a great game with a lot of love and effort put into it, and the potential to steal many hours of our time.

Stellaris is almost as big as the universe itself, at the point that you risk losing yourself in a galaxy of info, menus and gameplay possibilities. The new game from Paradox is truly captivating and challenging, despite some minor issues (especially with the AI). Stellaris is a new star, bound to grow bigger and bigger over time.

Hybrid strategy Stellaris promises a vibrant and changing universe for your space adventure. Although it doesn´t achieve its magnificent goals, it’s close enough to be a great game for every galactic strategist and explorer.

Stellaris is a competent strategy game that lets you explore the universe and take over different worlds while taking care of your own race. It is not without problems, but the game will captivate you for hours and hours on end.

Imagine that your favorite history professor has written a sci-fi novel. You’re intrigued. You read it. It’s dry, bereft of imagination, and misses the point of sci-fi by light years. It’s even full of typos and some of the pages are blank. But you still read all 912 pages. It’s flat. It’s lifeless. It’s terrible. You’re crestfallen. That’s Stellaris.

Something Stellaris do unlike any other strategy game is the way it offers a universe full of undiscovered mysteries and explorationSomething Stellaris do unlike any other strategy game is the way it offers a universe full of undiscovered mysteries and exploration opportunities . It is not only those factions who lives in space. Seemingly neutral species and other phenomena flying through space independent of what you are doing, and through certain projects these can be researched and mapped. You may learn something new from these creatures that unlocks additional research opportunities .

One of the coolest things I came across was when I colonized a planet and found out that it was inhabited by Titans - enormous creatures a la Hercules and Greek mythology. I was stupid enough to think that everything would go well. In a short while the planet was taken over by the Titans , and wave on wave of expeditionary forces were not able to take it back. A sad end there then, but the discovery was no less spectacular for that reason.

Not only can you discover ancient mysteries or clues that will take you on all sorts of adventures, but you are lucky during exploring then you can come across intelligent creatures who are trying to evolve into an ordinary fractions. One of the most unforgettable I have done was to make an observation post of such a planet, that enabled me to pay attention to what these creatures where doing. Before I knew it I had kidnapped " copies " of this alien race . To my great surprise , this led to the nations on the planet gathered against me . It all ended in me , through advanced technology, infiltrated government on the planet , helped them with technological advances so that they became a full-fledged faction , and then I made them to my vassal . That is long term strategy like nothing else! However if you just want war action and controlling ships in combat this game is nothing for you. I can't wait to play this in multiplayer against some friends:)

Which is supposed to fix the performance. This is not a question of specs it is a case that the mid late game lag goes from huge to unplayable on any cpu.

I doubt anyone can play a large map playably from mid game. I have heard of no one. Not even the development studio itself from the latest video they posted while using a super charged cpu.

The recommended system requirements should be increased to "please wait til quantom computing is invented as despite being a billion euro company we can't be bothered to redo the engine" Oh yeah it ran fine for the first year and half then they radically changed the pop system (which no one asked for and I think makes a complicated game even more micro management heavy) causing this mess. How recent reviews on steam can be "very positive" is beyond me. Has not one of these recent reviewers ever tried to finish a game? Will delete this review if 2.6 fixes this but I'm dubious. I don't like writing negative reviews but this broken, otherwise masterpiece has cost me over 150€, yes that's the most I spent on a video game and at present I highly regret it and I believe I'm justified in being angry.
