Even though this new story could have been a little more varied in its missions, one can only salute, once again, the talent of the studio. Marvelously implemented, and surprisingly adequate when combined with the western theme, this interpretation of the classic zombie myth is both comprehensive and efficient. The gameplay is profoundly (and interestingly) changed, and as usual with Rockstar, the value for price factor remains its strongest selling point.

Being in development for such a long time, Dead Cells avoids the trap and lives up to its expectations. Nevertheless, only those brave enough to face its strong difficulty will be able to discover a deep and generous adventure. Despite a certain level of repetitiveness, even though the randomly generated levels still are hand-driven, Dead Cells' offers a brilliant artistic direction and a great but discreet soundtrack.

F1 2020 manages to bring enough content with its new "My team" proposals which add yet another interesting layer to an already excellent base. We still regret the redundant side of the pre-race training programs (not enough variety), but it is ultimately the lot of Formula One that does not reinvent itself every day either. If you love F1 and want to enjoy it virtually, F1 2020 is the best and it is not because it is the only one.

Too light to really capture PvE fans in the long run, Tera offers, on the other hand, a new level of challenge for those who like player versus player battles, thanks to its manual "true" targeting combat. Even though there's still some major things missing (like the battlegrounds), Tera remains a solid MMO, blessed with top-notch visuals. It's only true weakness: serious competitors coming in 2012.

Some remakes simply have the 'money-spinner' label stuck to their foreheads, but Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 exudes passion through every pore. Graphically, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of FF7 Remake sits closer to the PS5 than the PS4 Pro, despite having a lower resolution on paper, and it commands respect. With a few minor concessions, the game runs smoothly in almost every situation and never compromises in portable mode. Everything feels carefully crafted to let players enjoy Midgar both on the go and on the big screen. Too bad it's locked at 30 fps. Whether Square Enix can maintain this level of performance with FF7 Rebirth and its more demanding open world remains to be seen. For now, though, the Switch 2 version stands out as one of the most enjoyable and versatile ways to (re)experience the legend of this iconic JRPG.

Full of twists and odd plot turns, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future is a well put together episode. With 165 puzzles, its as enchanting as ever backgrounds, its appealing story and well directed animated sequences, you can expect hours of fun. Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is undoubtedly a French slap in the face, dripping with love for video games and art as a whole. Extremely generous in everything it undertakes, the only criticism it can ultimately have is that it sometimes goes a little too far, at the risk of exploding. It feels breathless, on edge. There isn't an aspect that doesn't follow through and firmly adhere to its creators' vision, even if it means being disconcerting, even disturbing. In this sense, the game exudes untouchable creativity and intelligence. The developers give us everything they have, everything they want, and we welcome it. Ultimately, all it would have lacked was a nice balance and a little more polish to make it a truly essential game. It nonetheless remains a serious contender for the most prestigious awards of the year.

Elden Ring Nightreign is definitely a game apart in FromSoftware's catalog. Despite a clear requirement primarily geared toward three-player co-op, we legitimately had many memorable moments on this "Rogue-Lite Survival" spin-off in a generally successful and frankly addictive way, despite obvious balancing issues and questionable choices for a title focused on multiplayer. To fully appreciate the game in all its glory, however, we can only strongly advise you to play it with a group of friends. Capcom's game tries things that have never been seen before in the series and keeps things moving at the right pace with a few good twists along the way. The best series of sports video games comes back this year in nice wrapping paper full of promises. This episode is an instant pleasure as well as a guaranteed immersion. With a solid length and a tough challenge, it will speak to both basketball aficionados who will be thrilled to welcome back the series, but also to newcomers who might want to join in. This strong basis might give us a perfect hypothetical follow-up which might correct the few Career Mode imperfections.

More generous, unpredictable and flamboyant than ever, Super Mario Party Jamboree is an essential to liven up your evenings with friends or family. This eighteenth episode breaks away from some of its predecessors' dubious choices to focus on the essentials: effective mini-games and more than ever, Wild parts that gain a little bit in rhythm and content generous enough not to tire those who would only take it out on rare occasions. With a few game modes to top it off, some quite ingenious, others more gadgets, Super Mario Party Jamboree has the merit of varying the pleasures. It is certainly not a revolution, but it remains an excellent party-game that will cheer up without problem your evenings and offer you some laughter.

One of the best survival game experiences since The Forest. Beautiful, immersive and scary, Green Hell is a little masterpiece. The Amazonian jungle is impeccably transcribed, and the game, hard, beautiful, scary and punishing is a real breath of fresh air in the survival genre.

With Shadow of the Tomb Raider, we get one of the best episodes of the whole franchise. It doesn't intend to revolutionize the formula the reboot put in place in 2013, but it has a quite interesting story and a dashing setting, offers a well balanced experience, and has a huge amount of challenges that will surely please plenty of virtual explorers.

MIO Memories in Orbit is undoubtedly a wonderful surprise and an invitation to feast your eyes and ears. It's a game of rare artistic intensity that exudes genuine poetry throughout. You'll enjoy losing yourself in it for dozens of hours and exploring the sometimes sprawling depths of its inspired environments. Beneath its more than charming visuals lies a highly effective Metroidvania that borrows good ideas from various sources and applies them flawlessly with great precision. The execution is excellent, but the gameplay lacks personality, which truly contrasts with everything else. While you'll discover a profoundly unique world, you'll also have the feeling of having played it before. But it's hard to fault it for that, especially if you're a fan of the genre, as the journey is well worth experiencing.

If Eternal Strands somehow slipped under your radar amidst a truly insane previous year for video games, it deserves your full attention if you love magic, have a creative mind, and enjoy the epic feel of facing titanic monsters that Monster Hunter or Shadow of the Colossus wouldn't disown. This first game from a new studio composed of BioWare and Ubisoft veterans certainly offers a very solid foundation for a franchise as original as it is convincing. As it stands, however, one might regret a slight lack of risk-taking, which translates into an arsenal of weapons and spells, as well as a bestiary that, unfortunately, becomes repetitive rather quickly. We therefore hope that this successful first attempt has achieved well-deserved success, so that its creators can push the boundaries even further in a potential sequel.

Yakuza 0 is one the best Yakuza games and it's a game that PC gamers should not miss. Fun and overflowing with content, Yakuza 0 allows players to discover Tokyo and Osaka's red light districts as they were during Japan's "bubble economy" years. SEGA Europe did a great job on this PC port as the game has never looked so good.

Rockstar reclaimed Max Payne in their own way, without changing its core: it's a shooter, and its main protagonist is as dark as ever. The real surprise comes from the multiplayer, one of the best third-person ones we've played. This PC version is, at last, really well coded. No more GTAIV PC port nightmare from Rockstar? Let's hope so, GTA V is coming...

With this big update, Resident Evil Village is easily one of the spearheads of the PSVR 2. An essential experience for horror and ultra immersive game lovers. Capcom has done a masterful job and has taken advantage of the opportunity to offer new gameplay that is entirely optimised for Sony's headset. And the result is striking. Despite its few flaws, Village takes advantage of VR to give itself a new lease on life. Even the most reluctant players, who didn't find the original game impressive, will be taken on board in this nightmarish adventure. Some sequences are more gripping than ever. In short, with the PSVR 2, Resident Evil Village is more than ever an essential.
