The talented French indie creators at DotEmu and Guard Crush have gifted us once again with Absolum, an excellent game that skillfully blends old-school and modern gameplay. In this instance, we're treated to a truly magical and ingenious blend of beat 'em up and roguelite, all set in a vibrant world that delights the eyes and ears thanks to its stunning art direction and soundtrack. A true gem of late 2025, unfortunately somewhat lost in a sea of ​​other excellent games released throughout the year, due in part to a rather timid marketing campaign and a fairly steep difficulty curve that might deter newcomers.

Outer Wilds is simply a wonderful and brilliant space exploration adventure. Inside an hand-crafted solar system, the game is an ode to adventure and curiosity where you journey through space, trying to understand the stakes of a quantic situation.

A nice remake, similar to what was done with Ocarina of Time 3D, to fulfill the desires of players who never had a chance to experience the original on the N64. If the challenges may appear short at first, with the multiple branching in the "Adventure mode" and other new and different modes of play, most notably the scoring one, there is plenty to be done. Despite some shortcomings, it's a nicely polished title.

So if you want to have a taste of the best fighting game ever made by this developer, it's now or never.

Unlike the severly infected PC port of The Last of Us Part 1 at its release, The Last of Us 2 Remastered on PC presents itself as a superb score with almost no false notes, apart from a few textures, a depth of field below the rest, and very rare bugs. We are therefore entitled here to a PC version of very high caliber from a technical point of view, coupled with extremely complete support for different control schemes and accessibility pushed to the maximum. If you have never played Part 2, you will definitely be spoiled here, even with a modest configuration. Likewise, players without a PS5 Pro will be able to enjoy the best version of Naughty Dog's masterpiece, unless the 50 euros price tag is prohibitive for you, but also without a mandatory PSN account.

Resident Evil 9 Requiem is certainly one of the best games in the franchise, and for a very simple reason : it is the ultimate mutation of a formula that has evolved over many years of research, experimentation, successes, and failures. It is the synthesis of an entire series, from its main titles to its many offshoots spread across nearly 30 years of existence. Two experiences in one that come together to form a whole that will keep us on the edge of our seats from start to finish, despite some pacing issues and a few missteps along the way, though these are quickly offset by well-executed fan service and brilliant execution.

Horizon Forbidden West vastly improves the formula that Guerruilla created a few years ago. The open world is vivid and very immersive, helped by gorgeous visuals. The rock climbing system could be a little more open and give us a bit more freedom though.

True to the series, NBA 2K13 is even better, in terms of production value, content, gameplay, all the while managing to gain in accessibility. It also boasts a new career mode and the Ultimate Team mode. It's probably the best sport simulation ever.

From a technical and ergonomical point of view, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is overshadowed the Wii version, yet it preserves this monumental RPG into the darkness of our pockets.

Planet Coaster 2 truly earns its status as a sequel, with the water attractions alone making it worth a closer look. The game promises to be a genuine leap forward in the theme park management genre, refining every mechanic, every detail from the first installment, while expanding possibilities even further. With more customization, more micromanagement, and deeper control over finances, visitors, and attractions, Frontier is delivering nothing short of a masterclass here.

Technically and visually almost flawless, even more enjoyable to play with a consistently enjoyable fluidity (but preferably with a controller), all without a mandatory PSN connection, this PC version of Shift Up's title sets the bar very high. If you've been waiting for it to go on an adventure with EVE and if you don't have a PS5 Pro, you can go for it without question, unless the price of its different editions could be a deterrent for you.

It's impossible not to fall under spell of Bayonetta 3. More extravagant, frenetic, rich, varied and with even more monstrous and epic bosses, the game is the franchise at its best. However technical weaknesses, the few underwhelming environments and the readability issues can't counter the avalanche of the superlatives. A dance mastered without almost any misstep and a must-have on Switch.

This new PS4 version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD is of course better than the PS Vita/PS3 remaster released last year, and FFX is still a great game any RPG fan should play. If you missed it, this is the perfect occasion.

Bravely Default II couldn't be through with the past, as shown by the JRPG's traditional elements which inevitably, if not deliberately arouse nostalgia. While its wider, undulating world invites exploration, this episode seriously lays everything down, from the decidedly abrupt narrative to the extremely demanding strategical battles, exploiting the risk rewarding system and jobs' combination skills at full extent. Such kinds of class, whether wisely revised or exquisitely original, are worth it. Hence Tomoya Asano signs a deeply moving fairy tale intended for the genre's erudites, a beautiful proof of bravery.

With its gorgeous visuals, very entertaining storyline and nearly perfect gameplay, Batman: Arkham Knight is the best episode of this awesome franchise.

With this new port, Capcom reminds us just how pivotal Resident Evil 7 is in its now thirty-year-old saga. The claustrophobic setting of a dysfunctional family and the switch to a first-person perspective create an oppressive atmosphere that is just as compelling on Nintendo Switch 2. Furthermore, the hybrid hardware delivers impressive technical performance that perfectly preserves the original experience, with masterful pacing and meticulous level design. All in all, this is a nightmarish new version that we're delighted to dive back into.

For sure, Uncharted Golden Abyss is not of the same quality than the previous, full-blown PS3 episodes, but it's a damn good portable version of it. Visually, it lacks a little variety and the art direction isn't as good as the others, but technically speaking, it's still one of the prettier games of the Vita, and a faire demonstration of its prowess. The adventure remains quite thrilling, it's full a little additions to take advantage of the Vita (and hey are not as gadget as one might think), and its definitely a must-have for this console launch.

Hard to find any real flaws in MotoGP 24. Milestone revises its copy and offers us what is most akin to an essential vintage for its series by correcting the main flaws pointed fingers on the previous version. The result is a game with extremely pleasant gameplay, providing very good sensations in addition to a particularly successful immersion thanks to the multitude of details and general content. Those disappointed in the past will have enough to satisfy their missed expectations in 2023.

Beyond Two souls is the same as the PS4 version. It thus magnifies the narration with a technical outcome that amplifies everything. More graceful than ever, this port offers its most beautiful version here. As a classic, Beyond Two Souls is now part of the history of video games.

The single player campaign of Battlefield 4 is certainly disappointing, but as everyone knows, here it's the multiplayer offering that makes the difference... and again, DICE offers the best multiplayer FPS this year.

Imperator Rome is a monument of the strategy game. Surely one of the most complete games from Paradox. It is a real journey for the mind and it will make you experience Greek-Roman antiquity as in way that has been too rarely been used in video games before. A pure jewel.

With Thimbleweed Park, Ron Gilbert proves that he has definitely not lost the magic wand he used decades ago to conceive point and click adventures. This game is ridiculously fun and well-built, will make you think and laugh really hard from the beginning to the end. It really fells like an undiscovered LucasArts game we've never played before.

You may imagine that it's mainly going to be a tribute to games like Mega Man, Castlevania or Duck Tales, but Shovel Knight is a unique game with its own original ideas, an incredible level design, a perfect feeling and great visual and audio that appeal to all nostalgic gamers. Out 25 years ago, it would probably be considered as a classic nowadays.

With a satisfying solo campaign (even though it's rather short), more mature both in terms of storytelling and artistic direction, blessed by superb visuals powered by a new and rather impressive graphical engine; a richer than ever multiplayer with more dynamic and furious gameplay, and nice co-op, free, episodic content with Spartan Ops: 343 Industries is undoubtedly ready to take over, and drive the series forward into a new dawn.

Party Animals is a slap in the face and will make you laugh. Intelligent, beautiful, easy to access and yet full of challenge, it's a little marvel.

While Ghost of Yotei doesn't fundamentally revolutionize the already proven formula of Ghost of Tsushima, its sequel definitely perfects it in every aspect. Atsu's thirst for revenge, at first glance quite conventional, will take us on a magnificent journey through the Ezo region, as well as a moving quest of redemption for our heroine. Whether in the pleasantly immersive exploration of the open world, in a masterfully staged story or in a well-crafted and diverse action-infiltration gameplay, we are treated with a very generous adventure that constantly renews itself to keep us on the edge of our seats from start to finish. The PS5 has a new major exclusive here, which clearly overshadows Assassin's Creed Shadows, its illustrious big brother, and even other games of the same genre. Sucker Punch thus blesses us once again with a beautiful odyssey in feudal Japan, worthy of the great Japanese cinema from which it draws inspiration, and deserves the most poetic of haiku with a soothing shamisen tune in the background.

After a 25 years retreat, Pit takes off again to defeat Medusa once more. More than a rail shooter, Kid Icarus Uprising is a true old school gem and one of the most ambitious 3DS titles to date. It's still tiresome to play for your wrist sometimes,and the plastic stand still requires you to find the better position, but the experience is worthwhile.

This is the reboot we were waiting for. Beautiful, clever, expertly paced, it's a superb blend of action, exploration and puzzle. Definitely a great experience on PS4 and Xbox One.

Silent Hill Downpour may not be the most technically advanced game, nor boast the best polished gameplay, but it succeeds in what we were expecting from it : to be able to restore this icy, sweaty fear the series was known for.

This third episode of Kentucky Route Zero has its ups and downs, but the adventure continues and it is still a fantastic trip.

Importing the physics and graphics engines from the Forza series to an open-world arcade game was a great idea, even at the first attempt on Xbox 360, but Forza Horizon 2 on Xbox One does even better, refining everything, and it's actually the best open-world racing game on consoles so far.

Breath of The Wild is not perfect. It suffers technical limitations compared to other open-world games on other consoles... of course. But this new adventure is absolutely fantastic though, and it's actually one of the best in the series.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, eagerly awaited, was like a Kamehameha straight from our hands, the fruit of our exaltation, many sleepless nights to unlock the entire roster and the cumulative pleasure of playing, playing and playing some more. The title isn't perfect, and suffers from a few optimization issues that may be the result of certain choices made by the development team, but it's still great. Since Dragon Ball Fighter Z, we've lacked a title that could renew the license with such freshness, and this is a stunning return for the Budokai Tenkaichi saga.

New Leaf isn't just about adding more activities and items in a green fashion, it's about empowering the player with the ability to model the town through its aspirations. And with the wider opening provided by the possibility to visit other cities through dreams, there are even more reasons to express ones creativity and discover the richness of Animal Crossing.

Gorogoa is a very subtle and brilliantly innovative visual experience that will let your wide wide open long after its conclusion, thanks to a clever structure from start to finish. Jason Roberts' first game choose to mute this narrative puzzle tale, only to focus on strong visuals that navigates somewhere between surrealism and melancholy. Gorogoa may be quick to finish, but a second run seems clearly mandatory once you saw the ending. Too bad that all the available versions of the game display such different prices.

The devs from Cardboard Games confirm their narrative talent with this second chapter.

A true Masterpiece. That's the word that comes after having accomplished this trip in the company of John and Sam. Varied level design, fascinating story, funny and endearing characters, fantastic visual and audio… Eastward has it all. Much more than a pale copy of its illustrious models, Pixpil's neo-retro game ticks all the right boxes to establish itself as a pure 2D action-adventure gem.

If you're looking for the next gem for smartphones and iPad, it may very well be Contre Jour. This puzzle-game with a poetry twist draws inspirations from Limbo for its visuals, World of Goo for its drops, Portal for its... portals, Cut the Rope for its mechanics combining dexterity and brains. A very nice blend of many different elements that fit together very well.

Probably one of the best platformers on iOS, Rayman Jungle Run is absolutely brilliant, blessed by incredible level design, a super simple one-finger-only gameplay, yet one that is both deep and demanding. Fantastic work.

More of an evolution than a revolution, indeed. But a major evolution nonetheless in terms of fun. With a revised collision engine, superb AI, and First Touch Control, FIFA 13 is superior to last year's edition in almost every way, topping the list of the best soccer games ever created.

Resident Evil 7 is a true Survival-Horror and a true Resident Evil game. The series evolves a lot here, but it does it with a lot of respect for its DNA. This seventh episode is perhaps the true "Rebirth" of the series.

BioWare studio wanted to redeem itself for the not-so-convincing Dragon Age II. This episode is one of its finest productions. Amazing environments that take hours to get explored, greats quests with some hard decisions to make, fantastic characters and a great combat system: Dragon Age :Inquisition will probably become a masterpiece for anyone who's been in love with Dungeons & Dragons or Tolkien's books for a long time.

This Definitive Edition transfigures Xenoblade Chronicles through a work both meticulous and respectful to the original. Some aesthetic, tone or even conceptual decisions may divide though, particularly along the additional chapter. Whether necessary or not, this extended conclusion proves interesting in many ways, above all for its deep sense. After the narrative dispersal and mechanics piles from the other episodes, this founding opus recalls the purest expression of Tetsuya Takahashi's saga, hence Monolith Software absolute accomplishment.

Particularly beautiful for an iOS game, both on the iPad and iPhone, Jazz also enjoys a small price but great gameplay that make it hard to overlook. Its atmosphere and identity are strong, the music is fantastic, and even though its genre is overcrowded, it's really a title not to miss.

Featuring improved graphics, enhanced realism and extended gameplay, NBA 2K26 once again proves itself to be the ultimate basketball video game and the best sports simulation across all consoles. As always, it is essential. However, this year's edition is arguably the most worthwhile release to date.

Both old school (even the bugs are!) and modern with its time limited events, Wasteland 2 is not only an RPG for old farts buried in nostalgia, it's also an interesting and strong experiment from InXile, helped by fantastic writing skills and good gameplay, which - and this rare for a RPG - actually works (more or less), especially since the developers created an environment where you have to use every mechanism to win. After a few patches, Wasteland 2 will be this year's best RPG, no doubt.

Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition is the most complete and the most beautiful version of the loveable but imperfect RPG. If you own a good PC and are interested in Noctis' adventures, you can jump right in without any fear, just be sure its messy combat system, generic quests and quite strange scenario won't bother you.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is a jewel, a narrative and immersive adventure that captures your attention for hours. Artistically stunning, the game is also of great musical and auditory beauty and it is clear that the game is a true masterpiece.

Visually stunning, Forza 6 is a must have for any car lover. The physics and the gameplay will make you love every corner of its circuits... and this time it does it with many more cars and tracks, a better Career Mode and (finally !) rain and night conditions. We regret that those conditions are not dynamic and not offered for every track, that endurance racing is still far from perfect and that we would love to have a penalty system for cutting corners or dangerous driving, but Forza 6 is still a fantastic racing game.

What's more yummy than an Action RPG that uses well the recipes of Zelda, Rygar and Castlevania combined? Something that does just that and more, a game that is a surprise for Nintendo, a true mature story of illness and love, a dark, and deep tale wrapped in old-school game design.

Super Mario Maker is obviously the series' most creative experience, its limitations ensuring the fluidity of the process without hindering inventiveness, constantly stimulated by the community's sharings and competition. On top of being a pop icon, Mario therefore asserts the architectural influence of his universe on level design.

Forza Motorsport is back on Xbox and PC, and in a big way. The long wait is rewarded with a game of exceptional quality, both in terms of content and technology. A must-have for any racing fan, despite a few small details that could have been improved at launch.

For its second coming on the 3DS, Resident Evil treats itself to a splendid come back on the frontlines. Visually stunning, diabolically paced, and at last correctly smoothed out in terms of gameplay, the adventure is a delight, even though it completely lacks... revelations.

Returnal was a fantastic game on PS5, the best one so far, and it stills as good as before. A title that can be enjoyed on PC with the keyboard and mouse combo, or with the DualSense controller to take advantage of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for an immersive journey. A instant buy for all PC players.

If Assassin's Creed Origins is not perfect, it perfectly understood what it had to do to regain the hearts of the players and fans of the series. In addition to delivering the mysterious and fascinating ancient Egypt on a silver plate, in an absolutely gigantic open world, full of activities and secrets to discover, it succeeds in transforming its gameplay by brilliantly integrating RPG elements and completely renewing, with no less talent, its combat system. It will literally absorbs you for dozens and dozens of hours. Assassin's Creed Origins succeeds in taking care of its fans and its fundamentals, while starting its own revolution. We can only hope that the subsequent episodes will keep this momentum.

With Return of the Obra Dinn, Lucas Pope once again aims for the heart: this post-mortem mystery demands quite a lot from the player, but delivers one of the most rewarding experiences of this year. Return of the Obra Dinn is not suited for everyone, but its wonderful disjointing storytelling will keep those who agree to its formula awake for long.

Always more generous, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate offers many ways to have fun alone or with others, and a game concept that will satisfy both newcommers and specialists. If we can regret the absence of a true story for the adventure mode, this remains only a small detail compared to the amazing quality and content of the whole thing. Colossal!

Telling Lies is an absolute masterpiece. It offers some brilliant writing and acting that drive us to passionately discover all of its secrets through its very simple but effective mechanics.

As the Yakuza franchise is still trying to become a household franchise in the West, the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio decided to flip the switch and create a turn-based RPG. The result of that experiment, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, is a resounding success. The "dynamic RPG" gameplay fits the Yakuza universe and tropes like a glove and its mechanics are surprisingly deep. And the fact that the game's new characters are lovable doesn't hurt. The turn-based gameplay will probably put off some gamers but Yakuza: Like a Dragon truly deserves a shot. The Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio made the JRPG genre proud.

Forza Horizon 4 brings new ideas and new elements to a base that was already excellent. A base that has also been revealed to be a foundation on which to raise amazing things. Finer in its driving experience and in perfect harmony with the playground it offers, everyone can play FH4. FH4 is as open as its world and it is waiting for you.

Dexterity, wits, and a cold-blooded attitude, that's what you need to play VVVVVV, the indie platformer of Terry Cavanagh, well-known on the PC and now available on the 3DS. The port works perfectly well, and even though it doesn't make any use of the 3D whatsoever, it's as good as ever.

Mark of the Ninja is yet another gem of the Xbox Live Arcade. Deep, rich, smart and beautiful, this 2D stealth/action game never falls short compared to the major stealth titles out there. AI, ideas, level design, character progression, everything beautifully supports the lasting fun of this contemporary adventure.

This Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales PC is hands down the best version of the game yet. It's hard to do better in terms of graphic quality and that's without counting the addition of ray tracing which sublimates the whole thing to make it unbeatable. So much so that the PS5 version almost pales in comparison. With the addition of Nvidia DLSS into the equation, the title even has the luxury of being fairly fluid on most configurations that have an Nvidia RTX graphics card.

Gorgeous, generous, incredibly well written and fun to play, The Witcher's story conclusion is far from a disappointment. It's an amazing open-world RPG, looking like Skyrim and Grand Theft Auto's child, offering so many wonderful and lively places to explore, so many tasks to accomplish, so many fantastic stories and characters, so many great battles to fight, that it will take hours to explore the entire thing. A solid masterpiece that you can't seriously miss if you like RPGs - and have plenty of time to play.

Observer System Redux is an absolute must-have, whether you played the original game or not. If you're keen on Cyberpunk and horror, you'll find here exactly what you want: a beautiful game, with a stunning universe and fantastic dialogues and storytelling. Improvements are more than welcome and offer a more attractive and intense experience. The best game Bloober Team has delivered. It clearly doesn't deserve to be lost in time like tears in rain.

It was definitely worth the wait. Owlboy is not only a fantastic piece of pixel art with some great to support it but is also an engaging game, very well crafted, never boring, with an interesting and moving story.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is the best Assassin's Creed experience in terms of scale, freedom and gameplay. Between land and sea, the journey of Edward Kenway is really captivating.

Heroes of the Storm is probably what many MOBA players dislike: a real teamplay game, with a more accessible gameplay and an upheaval of known codes of the genre, which is ten years old today. That does not make it a bad game, far from it. It happens to give the players new reasons to play a MOBA, and it shows us that real team play is possible in a MOBA, even for 5 people who do not know each others. Try it!

Metroid Prime Remastered is a real must-have for all gamers who might not have had the chance to touch the famous franchise back in the day. It's also a very solid remaster (not to say remake) that can easily bring back nostalgic fans. Still fun and exciting to play, despite some minor stiffness due to its age, Metroid Prime Remastered is a lesson. Yes, there are excellent remasters. And after this rediscovery of one of the most cult games of the Gamecube, we have only one thing in mind: where is Metroid Prime 4 ?

This new version of The Legend of Zedla: Twilight Princess offers superb textures and some nice additions including the use of amiibo and direct access the Hero mode. If you missed this poetic adventure, you have to play it right now on this HD version.

Captivating, relaxing, cathartic, Unpacking turns a strenuous exercise in real life into a magnificent experience. Undoing the boxes at each stage of the main character's life provides a nice sense of accomplishment. Not in the layout itself, although it's always rewarding to pull off a Tetris with your possessions, but in understanding where the developers of Witch Beam are taking us and how. Without saying a word, delicately, with devastating attention to detail and a sublime atmosphere, the game tells us a very true story, which we easily cling to. The story of an invisible and mute virtual person whom we are happy to accompany and who, in the end, perhaps knows a lot more than we think about our own life.

More beautiful, immersive, those two games will allow players to discover both human and exciting adventures. For those who already know the two titles, it's a pleasure to rediscover the flagship titles of David Cage, including Heavy Rain in this new version. Unforgettable.

Batman Arkham Shadow is one of the best VR games on the market, although it’s only available on Meta Quest 3 at this time. Not only is it a very good Batman Arkham that respects the universe in which it infiltrates, but as a bonus it is an extremely well-designed game. Its combat system, directly inspired by that of the other games in the franchise, is simply incredible although very tiring. We really fight at last, miming hooks, uppercuts and other special shots. From fighting, to using gadgets, to movements for exploration, everything is extremely well done. The rhythm is at the top, the game keeps us in breath more than a dozen hours without forcing and as a bonus it turns out to be rather beautiful. Batman Arkham Shadow is clearly a must for all Meta Quest 3 helmet owners, but be careful, being Batman is not easy, it’s very, very physical.

Masterpieces are immortal. This new HD and 3D edition erases some of yesterday's shortcomings (most notably the low frame-rate of Shadow of the Colossus), all the while underlining some other technical issues that we overlooked yesterday, but those two journeys, those two gameplays, those two stories remain as potent as ever. Those are two titles that stand elsewhere in the crowd of computer games, two stars that shine as brightly as ever in an ever-evolving galaxy, and don't seem ready to fade away any time soon.

By harnessing the best design qualities of titles such as Deus Ex, Thief, BioShock or Ultima Underworld, Dishonored would have been a good game. By adding a unique world with a singular taste, carefully crafted storytelling and a solid plot, and allowing for numerous variations and random parameters inside all of that for an even more personal experience, it's gone all the way to becoming a superb game, one that is a vibrant success, and clear evidence that only video games can make us live such experiences.

Dordogne is a gentle masterpiece for the mind. Beautiful, dreamlike, moving. A marvel.

One thing's for sure: Skyward Sword will divide. Its numerous qualities, among which the changes of scenery, the ingeniousness of the puzzles, make it able to provide us with a quest rich with intense moments, but some imprecision and lengthy sections prevent it from becoming the new and reformed shiny prince the series needed. If the Wii MotionPlus gameplay enables the immersion to go a step further, it requires a rigorous play style and will spawn some frustrations when it sometimes (rarely) doesn't work perfectly well. A beautiful adventure remains, still, proud to be the hallmark of the 25th anniversary of Link, Zelda & co... but not sufficiently sparkling to eclipse the infinite magic of the Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past episodes.

It Takes Two is an amazing coop experience, a rollercoaster of love that always succeeds in giving new gameplay mechanics to players, as well as interesting characters. A true playable romantic comedy that lasts 10 hours that will leave some pretty good memories. And another success for Hazelight.

Feeling like a successful meeting between Silent Hill 2 and what Remains of Edith Finch, Devotion is magnificently written and disturbing experience. A fantastic, scary, immersive first-person horror journey that you can jump in unquestionably.
