Capcom mixes and matches all the fighting games ingredients, without achieving the finesse and subtlety of a Street Fighter IV. IN the end, Street Fighter X Tekken is an excellent compromise between the most demanding fighting games targeting pro-fighters, and the most pure fun oriented ones, targeting beginners. If you will, it's for fighting games, in some way, what World of Warcraft was for MMOs.

Whether you want to find the best settings in manual mode or you want to enjoy the helps provided and ride in 5 minutes it will satisfy you. For the next year, we ask for a graphic evolution and a scenario in career mode. This will give more to an already very complete game.

I really thought that Blood Dragon would quickly become too much, but I'm surprised that it was able to make me laugh all the way through this heavily deformed and 80's enriched Far Cry 3. It goes in all directions, and at great length, to charm all over-the top, punchline riddled, references fans. A smart and refreshing stand-alone take.

Sega has skillfully orchestrated the blue hedgehog's return to the racetrack. Rather than taking the risk of a complete overhaul, the teams have instead revisited a formula that already worked very well, modernizing it by drawing inspiration from what they had previously created. Smooth, fast-paced, and wildly addictive, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds has something to delight fans of the genre on all platforms. The only drawbacks are a rather meager launch roster, a limited number of Grand Prix tracks, and the Competition Area, which won't appeal to everyone. But with its promise of regular content updates over the long term, it has everything it takes to become a new staple in the racing game landscape.

Splice is a puzzle game where you manipulate genes to get to the desired shape. With 7 "levels" of 7 puzzles each, you need to first understand the logic behind the molecules and the way to move them, then play with special ones, and finally go against the limited amount of "splices" you can perform. It's a nice game, supported by a very nice music, but it would probably be best suited for touch screens.

Putting some difficult years behind, the 2011 edition of PES has become attractive again. But if it's been able to catch up in any way, its more with what was expected from previous editions than with its competitor FIFA. On almost all fronts, except its interface, formation menus, and ball physics, EA's title seems superior. PES remains an excellent football game, and will be loved by many, but like the "Oranje" team of Holland, its latest performance isn't the best ever, especially when compared the other team.

It's hard not to see flaws in this Fable III, which is less convincing in many areas than the previous one. Its inconsistent production values (sometimes beautifully executed, sometimes lacking a lot of polish), the over-simplification of some things that are sometimes not that efficient, the less than inspired bestiary : potential reproaches are numerous. But despite all those, Fable III, like it predecessors, remains so charming and mesmerizing that it works. The coop mode is a bliss (at last), and even though the "being King gameplay" is clearly underwhelming, one cannot be bored by this new Albion. Yes, Fable III could have been better polished and more ambitious, but it's still a game unlike any other.

The launch of an MMO, even a well-crafted and solid one like Rift, is but a doorway to the land of perpetual development, with as many chances to succeed than to fail. This is probably why Trion chose to deliver a game that feels comfortable, and functional, with only light touches of innovation - a solid foundation upon which to build. While I'm awaiting to discover what they will propose during the upcoming year, I'm savoring the arrival of a new big MMO on the market, and the pleasures of playing with it.

Nintendo’s cutest mascot goes back to its root. Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe serves us the same dish as on Wii, but with a new presentation, a side dish that will delight and a desert that will satisfy the hungriest players. The recipe and the ingredients are familiar, it's delicious as ever. Magolor‘s epilogue brings enough flavors to spice up an already well-cooked experience. Battlefield 2042 is clearly a good vintage. Let it be said, it's very pleasant to get your hands on such a generous opus. The developers of DICE and Ripple Effect Studios were keen to please neophytes but also unconditional fans. The recipe works despite a few small problems such as the insufficient number of maps or even some gameplay issues related to specialists, weapon balancing or the spacialization of footsteps. The title being keen to expand via its future Battlepass, it will be necessary to judge the content over the long term to see whether or not the content is up to par. But as it stands, we are facing a Battlefield worthy of the name.

Brotherhood isn't trying to make easy money. One can surely grunt at the lack of mythology revelations and average story (but still unmissable for the fan) of the campaign, but its gameplay has been improved in almost every way. It's massive (at least 12 hours if you're not trying to get everything), and rich with a lot of new stuff, both small and big (starting with the assassin's guild mechanics). We'll see in the long run if its multiplayer will prove to have more strengths than weaknesses, but it's already, and unmistakably, one of the most refreshing experiences of late, with games that are an inspiration for ruse, cold-blood, and cunning.

For a first of its kind, Granblue Fantasy Relink is a success. It throws itself wholeheartedly into the grand spectacle of pure action, showing extreme generosity. With a roster of some twenty unique characters, for as many different gameplays, Relink can boast of breaking the routine, or almost. Inherited from Gacha, it uses a progression system for its heroes that could put some people off. But it's also this recipe that makes the endgame, based on a system of quests to be completed alone or in cooperation, so addictive. If you're a customer, over a hundred hours of gameplay await you; if not, you'll have to make do with the main story, punctuated by memorable sequences and battles. The story, however, is hardly surprising, with dispensable side quests. Granblue Fantasy Relink has a bit of an "ass between two chairs", since it certainly won't appeal to everyone, but it's nonetheless a good action-RPG that tries to blend its heritage with a slightly more modern and current recipe. It paves the way for a franchise that could well surprise us even more in a few years' time.

The story of Super Mario Maker 2 appears manufactured in a rush, with Luigi lending a hand as an extra, but the castle's restoration offers an excellent presentation of this episode's additional perspectives. Those fulfill the main gaps of its predecessor through incredibly polyvalent mechanisms, quite magical staging tools and more or less stunning power-ups. Some elements among the most audacious are unfortunately confined into dedicated styles, along with limited control means overall, the architectural vision remaining very straight and square. Such stands the counterbalance of the harmony deployed inside this marvelous building site, even more accessible to boot. While the cooperative works don't always operate in synergy, the community dimension proves more stimulating than ever. A new (mile)stone - solid and ingeniously cut - for this construction edifice à la "MarioWare".

The atmosphere of the game is as crazy as ever even though the storytelling has gotten a little old. The same can be said with the gameplay, which has hardly changed an iota: it's still just as nervous, addicting, devilishly catchy, but at the cost of sometimes outdated ergonomics. Game Science's title is indeed a beautiful adventure paying a convincing tribute to the mythical Journey to the West. We really feel like a mighty hero of the Chinese legends, in an epic saga that crushes us under its majesty. For its first AAA game, the Chinese studio offers us a great show with a visible enthusiasm. Perhaps too much. Much more narrowed than other games in the series, Metroid: Samus Returns only becomes a real blast through its last sections, but still offers a good run for every fan of the genre.

Treyarch did well in introducing Call of Duty to new approaches. The solo, especially, is surprisingly replayable thanks to story variations based on both player chance and performance. The multiplayer seems to have found the definitive system for custom classes with Pick-10, and the new Zombies mode called Tranzit offers new surprises and and open-world feeling that surely make it better. The graphics engine really starts to look old though, and the solo suffers from big plot holes, less polished scripting, and less spectacular sequences.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is one of the most beautiful games you will play this year. Every stage is a visual and artistic masterpiece, and Gareth Coker's brillant soundtrack is the most delicious cherry on the cake. Unfortunately, the game still suffers from technical flaws, which have yet to be definitely fixed.

Sure, Kirby is extremely easy, and not really innovative, but it still is a quite refreshing experience. With high production values and an enchanting atmosphere, its a delicious journey through Dreamland's kingdom. If the youngest of gamers can dive in with closed eyes, platformers aficionados will have trouble looking the other way with its lack of challenge. If you are able to enjoy its naive world, you will discover a peace-inducing title, with a solid gameplay. Touching, warm, and reassuring like a sweater weaved by Grandma.

Vermintide 2 is a splendor. Probably the best Warhammer game at the moment, especially because Fatshark studio is talented enough to keep only the best of this universe. With an intelligent loot system, charismatic heroes and many classes, and some great violent action, Vermintide is a must-have if you love cooperative action games.

With the Curse of the Pharaohs, Ubisoft finally delivers a strong DLC which plays the fantastic card to push the series forward. Yes, the adventure stills uses the same tricks and twists used a thousand times before, but the beautiful Thebes and After-Life visuals will make the 20-hour long series of events fly in the blink of an eye.

WRC 8, it is a solid title with an official licence and the confidence is now totally restored in Kylotonn. Simply, Bravo.

The Writer follows in the footsteps of The Signal. In terms of gameplay, thanks especially to a better, more daring level design, it will serve fans with some nice sequences. And story-wise, well, it wouldn't be a compelling thriller setting if all questions were answered, but it still delivers a fulfilling end to this first season, while leaving a door open for a second one. But if we are to dive in it one day, it will need to rise up to an entirely new level in terms of gameplay, this time.

Thanks to its gorgeous visuals and deeper narrative, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart arises the series to a new level. With many locations to enjoy, a lot of weapons to try out and many, many collectibles to find, everyone should find a good reason to embark on this bidimensional journey, even though the obvious collision bugs are still way too present.

It's hard not to see flaws in this Fable III, which is less convincing in many areas than the previous one. Its inconsistent production values (sometimes beautifully executed, sometimes lacking a lot of polish), the over-simplification of some things that are sometimes not that efficient, the less than inspired bestiary: potential reproaches are numerous.

Dynasty Warrior Origins kicks a genre that has been stalled for too long. The musô comes out of its niche to tickle the curiosity of a wider audience, without forgetting its roots. It is a logical evolution of an old formula that still refuses to let go of its foundations, but accepts modernity. Result, the game drags its old demons like redundancy, intrinsic to the genre that we find in force here, or graphics below the standards. But the rest takes a facelift, with more advanced narration, efforts of staging and especially a will to do in the great show. It works like a dream, the game is complete, generous and super fun. In many ways, it impresses and turns out to be extremely exhilarating. If you were a fan of musô before, you will enjoy it. If you were curious, but never dared to take the plunge, this Dynasty Warrior Origins is the perfect gateway, go for it.

Ghost of Sparta is a tech demonstration that knocks out any competition on the PSP. Its combat exudes an unmatched feeling of power and exhilaration, and the epic directing we've come to love is back, as thrilling as ever, from start to finish. It's another unmissable iteration for the series for beat'em up and kratos' fans alike, even though its story isn't really its strong suit, and some attempts at offering novelty in the gameplay aren't that convincing. It still works beautifully. We still hope next time, the developers will risk a little more in order to bring some novelty into the mix, even though with such an IP, it's obviously a difficult thing to achieve.

Miitopia may seem like a simple, artificial RPG simulation with Mii, but the humorous narrative tone underlined by such absurdly customizable protagonists suggest to take some distance from the deceptive classicism of this quest, that reveals an ironic look at the genre. The focus on the relationships between these avatars, their freedom in combat along with the randomness of the gameplay elements add life to the whole experience, creating a special position for the player, neither actor nor spectator, yet deeply involved. Whether it's considered as an introduction to RPGs or a satire, Miitopia doesn't lack character, and wonderfully embodies the role.

Anno 2070 was expected to take itself very seriously, but the way it deals with the eco theme is caricatural. Too bad. However, the anticipation background remains refreshing for the series, and the gameplay keeps everything the fans liked. Blue Byte doesn't change the formula, but adds a couple layers of richness to the content (three factions, scientific research, community bonus). Only the combats would gain by being completely re-thought.

For us, the experience was good, even very good. The game is even more beautiful on this platform, and goes even further than the PS5 version in terms of ray-tracing. Thanks to DLSS or FSR, the game can run around 60fps with ray-tracing options. For the game itself, it's still a excellent blockbuster that will have fans of Marvel's superhero dreaming.
