Perfects everything Origins did and enhances them in ways you never thought an Assassin's Creed game could. Odyssey has it all.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey becomes one of the best chapters of the saga to date. Its history involves from beginning to end and the recreation of Ancient Greece is simply sublime. Its mechanics are the result of everything learned in previous chapters and achieve an immersive gameplay. If you are a fan of the saga and you like RPG games, Assassin´s Creed Odyssey is an essential on your bookshelf.

With Odyssey, Ubisoft has crafted the biggest Assassin's Creed to date. A colossal open world, action RPG, that can go toe to toe with the biggest names in the genre. If you're a fan of this kind of game, don't miss it.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is big and beautiful. Could it be a much better game? Sure. But it's an amazing adventure with echoes of the Greek classic tales about travels and fantasy.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a superb open world RPG. It can be a little rough around the edges, but there's a gameplay freedom to this particular adventure that's really a cut above what the series has attempted previously. With a gameplay loop that simply never stops giving, Ubisoft's recreation of ancient Greece is an amazing achievement, and in some ways, a genuine step forward for open world game design.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey throws so much stuff at you, it's difficult to sift through it all. It's a beautiful game to look at and the story is intriguing, but it feels like a game that could have been a little more ambitious if given more time to develop. There's good ideas, from the branching story and character choice to the return of ship-based combat, but its ambitions also fray around the edges in a way that Origins didn’t.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey features a rich, lush world lessened by its repetitive activities. Though the main story is compelling, completing it requires you to participate in a massive amount of level grinding through less-than-stellar side quests. There’s plenty to do in this world, but a lot of it feels like busy work that fights to stay exciting or compelling. Odyssey is yet another open world game that misinterprets the meaning of more content.

Trash game forcing the player to spend money on Microtransactions... Pathetic.

I want to rate this game as a game on its own, independently from its franchise. As someone who has played every Assassin's Creed game fromI want to rate this game as a game on its own, independently from its franchise. As someone who has played every Assassin's Creed game from start to finish, it was certainly disappointing to find that Ubisoft all but abandoned the themes introduced in the earlier titles. However, the hidden blade WILL be making a return (via DLC unfortunately, but hey) so that's enough to satiate me... for hardcore fans however I understand where the complaints come from.

All of that being said, I think rating this game poorly solely due to the aforementioned reasons doesn't give its creators justice. It's truly a sprawling, MASSIVE world filled with caves, quests and all around gorgeous scenery.
The combat is a step up from Origins, and isn't quite as easy as you would think (at least before level 15), with new active skills to make combat interesting and varied as well as smarter AI.
The soundtrack is also one of my favorites to come out of the series, giving me very strong "The Witcher" vibes (which is a good thing).

If you're a fan of masterfully crafted open world RPG's then this game is a MUST BUY. It truly has it all, bringing the best of all games as well as introducing far more player impact and customization. The only reason I have to dock it a point is because I can't consciously give it a ten when it is a single player game with microtransactions. While they don't intrude on the game, I think there is a place for them and it isn't in this genre.

    Cop it. 9/10

Although a bit repetitive, AC Odyssey managed to pull me into its world for hundreds of hours.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For the record, I have around 100hrs, and not finished with main quest, but have to write review for reasons below. First off - the good things, the game starts off great - reliving the battle of 300, then getting abandoned by Sparta and starting anew as mercenary aka misthios. After getting out of starting island Kephallonia, there is a lot - and I mean A LOT to explore, and most of it for me felt different enough to keep me going. The 'world and characters' side quests are also very varied and many of them have choices that make you pick lesser evil, which is great. Main quest is also very good so far, trying to reunite your family and reclaim your place in Sparta. As for crafting/upgrade mechanisms and resource availability, for me it was Ok, as the amount of resources you get scale with your level, there is no need to buy anything from in-game shop. Graphics are very good, so is combat, for me it felt very dynamic, sometimes punishing, but overall very fun. The mercenary ranking system isn't bad.
Now for the bad things - the minor ones. The enigma ostrakas - if you want to complete them, some are really easy to find, some are tough but all the more rewarding, but some of them outright misleading - as perfect example is 'goat's gruff' - so much so, that after you give up searching the only place that fits at least to some extent the vague description on the ostraka, and you'll google the exact location, you will want to beat whoever wrote it with two stupid sticks while kicking him in the nuts.
Somewhat worse for me were some quests where you had to guess where to find next objective - one especially bad was quest for killing Drakon, where there game literally says 'his camp is somewhere in Boeotia' - wow, just wow.
The absolutely positively worst thing so far was hunting cultists. Let's say you get this one legendary set item, and you tell yourself 'now I want the whole set, and ASAP, because it's game changing for my playstyle'. Ok, you start to get clues - as example there is this cultist in Attika that owns quarry, the clue says - ok, I'll go to quarry and kill him, he will be there. Except nope, he won't be there, unless you do like 5 side quests in Attika, that doesn't even remotely hint that the cultist will be uncovered in the end. Why not at least include hint about the person that gives the side quests into the clue? Another example is cultist on obsidian islands - clue says 'weaking the islands will draw him into naval battle'. Again, this is misleading, if you weaken the islands, you can sail around them 10 times and you will not find the cultist. You have to google again to find out you need to speak to general for conquest battles to uncover him - again nothing about this in the clue. If this was some optional stuff, I would understand, but finding and killing cultists is very much bread and butter of this game, so this is very much an issue for me, because it can literally take hours of gameplay without any progression. Given the scope of the game, you really want to progress as much as possible, to see it all.
Soo yea, a 6 from me.
