Like the Exclusion Zone of Chornobyl Zone since 1986, STALKER 2 seems like stuck in a time bubble that ignores current industry standards. With the exception of a very beautiful artistic direction thanks to a cleverly exploited Unreal Engine 5. We indeed find everything that made the success of the franchise in its time. Namely a fascinating open world to explore, albeit extremely oppressive which requires nerves of steel. The title may, however, put off newcomers who are not used to such a demanding experience, but will reward a hundredfold the most courageous ones ready to venture into it. We also appreciate the care taken in an intriguing story to follow, dictated by our choices. Despite several flaws that could break the pace or an otherwise impressive immersion and the presence of some more or less annoying bugs, STALKER 2 has come a long way. The 14 years of waiting for an unexpected return in such solid form deserves, in our opinion, to salute the determination and the deep testimony of love of GSC Game World towards this iconic license. As inhospitable as it is, the Zone tentatively invites us to get lost in it for hours of pleasure mixed with anxiety. A truly unique video game experience, which ultimately only needs a good layer of polish to truly shine.

Thanks to a charming art direction, Castle Pixel's second game will please most of nostalgic gamers. To celebrate its 15th birthday, CyberConnect2 went all-out in order to father a spiritual follow-up to its original game Tail Concerto, full of love and passion. Pretty, with a world that shares some common traits with the work of H. Miyazaki, and an accessible yet satisfying action gameplay and nice characters, it's a perfect game to offer to younger gamers... if you can't bear to play a talking dog yourself.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will not be as memorable as the first reboot, because it's doing quite the same things without taking much risks, but it's still a really great game and a very complete one with the addition of the PlayStation VR chapter.

Dying Light Platinum Edition on Switch is an impressive port of a - still - very good game. It's smooth, doesn't load so much and, as it is the complete version of the Techland game, offers tons of content to players in need of zombies and a bit of horror.

Even if a few additions (on free kicks and corners) won't feel really exciting, FIFA 17 clearly brings the franchise to a higher level with some great gameplay possibilities, great visuals and huge content to keep players coming back.

With Final Fantasy XIV : A Realm Reborn, Yoshida and his team have won their bet, and offer a radically different game than Final Fantasy XIV Online. The game has some very interesting systems, starting with the evolution of your characters and Jobs. Moreover, it is a very accessible game that you can enjoy easily and quickly. A great alternative to games like World of Warcraft, with a Japanese feel that should delight the fans of the series. This time Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn deserves to be successful.

Project X Zone 2 is a lot like its predecessor gameplay wise. And it's clearly not the most challenging Tactical-RPG available. But what the game lacks in difficulty, it more than makes up for in fan service. The game's cast of characters is incredible and its dialogue is both full of references and funny lines. If you love Japanese video games and their history, you'll probably love Project X Zone 2.

Through a less intimidating world, a cozier, jazzy atmosphere and an even more dynamic combat system, Torna: The Golden Country reveals not only an archaic chapter from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but also a fundamental pillar of the series as a whole. While the adventure never quite reaches the density of a full installment, the focus on human relations drives the narrative across uncharted emotional territories, making this standalone expansion a fantastic introduction to this universe, and an unmissable opportunity to explore Alrest more deeply.

More comprehensive, more varied, better polished, Borderlands 2 still boasts the same strengths from three years ago, only enhanced. It's still a rather brutal FPS mixed with loot-whoring RPG, with a unique design and a super-violent, super-crazy world.

As usual with the Football Manager series, we know where we put our money in. Partly to reward the tremendous work of a team that knows and loves football, who seek the opinions of experts to recreate the best of everything that makes the salt of football/soccer.

A brilliant conclusion to the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, with a fantastic new area to discover, captivating main story, some lovely characters and a lot of interesting and well-written side-quests. Death Stranding is, first of all, a game which, tries, experiments, and is full of ideas. Playing the role of the lonely Sam Porter Bridges, the player is connected with everyone else thanks to a clever system of collaboration, which works really well thanks to a thoughtful game design. But to enjoy the long run through what seems to be the most beautiful Iceland landscape, you will have to go through a thick, complex and most of all tedious story, which seems to never know when to stop, or being simply essential.

If you are an absolute fan of Warhammer 40,000, skipping Space Marine 2 would be pure heresy. Saber Interactive blesses us with a gorgeous love letter to the iconic universe imagined by Games Workship, like few other games have before. Impersonating an Angel of Death has never been so thrilling and the slaughter made in the Emperor's name so beautiful to feast our eyes upon. The third person shooters aficionados will also find here an extremely solid title, whether through an although rather short but enjoyable Campaign or with the Operations mode, that offers huge replayability, or finally with the multiplayer mode. Despite the huge work done on the game that shows a contagious passion, it severly lacks content in its base form. Let's hope it will be regularly updated to keep its players engaged in the long term for this excellent representation of the grim darkness of the far future... as long as your play it with your most faithful brothers in arms.

Wakfu can be described as an experimental MMO "who has some", to say the least. It's a game for hardcore community gamers who are not afraid to spend hours wondering "how does it work? ", or "is it really working?". Two weeks after its release, the game still heats up, with some troubles (in economics for example), but it's worth it to participate in this adventure, wherever it leads you.

Aya Brea puts its origins to rest in order to provide a third person action title full of thrills, quite dynamic, and appealing. There's also blame to be passed, on the light and not really consistent story for example, a camera system that's not beyond reproach, and a short lifespan, but overall, it does succeed in providing excellent action.

In spite of the recycled, hence reliable machinery, Kirby: Planet Robobot is simply mecha powerful.

The end of this third season is closing in, and Telltale Games definitely stepped up the craziness in this next to last episode. One can only appreciate it. The adventure is rich and diverse, the dialogues hilarious, and the supporting characters full of surprises, of which the plot itself doesn't lack at all. What more do you need from a point & click game?

More of a 1.5 episode than a true sequel duo, White 2 and Black 2 still are very satisfying for the fans or those who haven't played a Pokméon for some time, thanks to nice additions and a successful blend of gameplay elements.

Nearly all the series in one blu-ray, that's sounds like the perfect occasion to dive in Kingdom Hearts before welcoming the anticipated 3rd episode.

Puyo Puyo Tetris is a surprisingly convincing mix of two of gaming's oldest Puzzle Game franchises. The fact that the game lets players chose between Tetris, Puyo Puyo or a (well done) mix of the two makes for a fun experience. It must also be said that Puyo Puyo Tetris is best enjoyed on the Switch. The console's local multiplayer capabilities are clearly one of the game's strong suits.

Trying to fill the expectations of the fans, Duodecim charms and offers even more features than the previous one. Some new things aren't that exceptional, though, and overall, we'd have hoped for more impactful innovations, but in the end, it's still a refreshing combat game, without any challenger in its style of play, gathering all the star characters of Final Fantasy in a visually stunning sequel.

Sometimes Always Monsters is a surprising "road movie game" with a lot of choices to make that will significantly change the story.

Phantom Liberty is a very solid extension. Its storyline keeps us on the edge of our seats from start to finish, backed up by a scathing mise-en-scène. The DLC draws a great deal of inspiration from action cinema, and exploits every string with brio. It's all carried off by the presence of Idris Elba, an ultra-charismatic actor who shines on screen here. It's just a pity that his character, like other interesting supporting characters, is not exploited to the full. Similarly, Phantom Liberty as a whole doesn't go far enough. Leaving aside Update 2.0, which is available to all without the need to buy DLC, the new features can be counted on the fingers of one hand. A handful of new skills, a new neighborhood, new missions and quite a few new items. An excellent expansion, despite a slight lack of ambition. But it's hard to deny the pleasure.

Pokemon Moon and Sun are very good Pokemon games. Everything you can expect and more from a Pokemon video game is inside these new cartridges. Alola forms and Z-moves are a great addition to an already good formula. However, it's still not the huge renewal of the franchise we were waiting for.

As a competitive and quite frantic game, Tetris 99 is the exact opposite of Tetris Effect. And it's a very good game too. It's not the kind of experience you play to feel more peaceful. When you engage in the only available mode, you want to be the last survivor. And if you're not, you go for another shot. And another. It can last forever because Tetris 99 is just so addictive.

Beyond an assumed classicism, Etrian Odyssey V refocuses on the Yggdrasil labyrinth, adding space and depth to exploration. Hence this episode gives more relevance to each decision, each combat, which boldly asserts its mythical role playing heritage through such refined formula.

Out from nowhere, an hilarious joke, The Stretchers is a fun and clever two players game, with an ideal pace and constant renewal. Whether cutting across the fields with the turbo throttle and the waving gyro's siren or consulting on how to take the casualty right back to the ambulance by the craziest method, The Stretchers is a success and is one of the most entertaining duet games of recent years, in the same category as the hilarious Gang Beasts and Heave Ho.

Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle is a veritable love letter to the saga from which it draws its inspiration. The one that set the standard for all modern adventurers, whether in film or video games. A dinosaur, unearthed by Bethesda and MachineGames in the purest of ways. A true gem of fidelity, the game is packed not only with winks to ensure fan service, but also with details to integrate this new adventure with the cinematic saga. A success on every level, with Indy as real as life and total immersion. The only hitch is in the purely video game aspect. While the regions we visit are sublime, they're sometimes too vast for very little, and there's far too much filler in the way of collectibles. Indy may no longer be Nathan Drake, but he's not an old man either, and he's clearly not at his best in platforming or combat. Even the game's exploration drags on in a way that's hard to in 2024. The same goes for the lack of naturalness and life in the crowded, inhabited areas, and the completely out-of-date AI that breaks up the infiltration. Notable glitches, to say the least, in stark contrast to everything else. The fact remains that Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle is one of the best Xbox exclusives of recent years, a fresh and gripping adventure that fans would be foolish to overlook for the few glitches that will quickly be swept under the carpet, and rightly so.

Blazing Chrome is more than a simple homage to the Contra and Metal Slug series: the game also takes liberties to offer the genre a new and strong challenger. With two very different styles and a delightful pixel-art look, there is much more than meets the nostalgic eyes in this complete run and gun.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 finally brings back the noise of a beloved franchise, after so many failed attempts. This remaster compiles the arcade gameplay and the silliness of two famous games to deliver a classic but loving experience for every fan of the genre. If only this duo turned into a trio, the party would have been perfect.

Dragon quest Heroes is a great game. Whether you like the muso genre or not, you'll have a great time.

Skullgirls is still an excellent (and superb) 2D fighting game on PC, but it also comes back with more stuff : new characters, better AI, revamped animations... All that for a small price. You have to try it if you like fighting games.

Control Ultimate Edition on PS5 is still a great game, and its enhancements are pleasant - Ray Tracing or 60 fps, it's up to you - even if we could have asked for something more with the DualSense. If you've never met Jesse Faden and never been to the Bureau, it's time.

FAST RMX is an excellent racing game for the Nintendo Switch. It offers great sensations of speed and fine tuned gameplay... even if it still suffers a lack of game modes, especially in online multiplayer.

Neople's The First Berserker Khazan is a success. While it opts for a classic structure and a level design without too many surprises, it pulls out all the stops with its gameplay, halfway between souls-like and beat'em all. Hyper-energetic and highly graphic, the combat system is a pure success. Despite the difficulty, which is not always well balanced, the game is not punishing, but rather rewards the slightest action. The build-up of power coupled with the feeling of accomplishment make The First Berserker Khazan a truly enjoyable and exhilarating experience. Not to mention its masterful, eye-popping art direction and, above all, its talent for staging boss battles, which spares nothing. An excellent surprise for the start of the year, and an excellent hardcore action game.

This first attempt from Blizzard on the free to play market is a success. You don't have to pay to win in this card game that looks really nice and is as interesting as addictive to play.

Infinity Blade is but a series of endless duels in the same environments. Once you figure that out, it does undermine its promise, but even though the battles can get repetitive, the combat system is deep enough to enjoy. It's a good game, because it was designed for nomadic use, and with this low pricepoint, it's exactly what iOS users could be asking for.

A morbidly amusing narrative in the backdrop of a facetious universe, along with hilarious characters and their puzzling torments, Flipping Death undoubtedly transpires coherence as an adventure game, proving that the genre still belongs to the world of the living.

Magicka is a kind of innovative beat'em all where you combine different types of magic to annihilate your enemies. In order to master your powers, you will need to be both able to multitask and finger-agile, since the keyboard/mouse controls are quite complex! And the resulting challenge is high. With a little work and force of habits, one will discover an extra-fun gameplay and a hilarious adventure, solo or in coop for 2 to 4 players. All this for less than 10 dollars ? Go get it!

Weird West is a video game that offers a rich narrative with a lively (but dark) world. The character rotation system is a great way to vary the fun and gameplay mechanics. The sandbox vision of the fights is excellent.

Even though this fourth installment of the franchise goes further in terms of visuals, scenario, and overall polish than the previous ones, it doesn't really bring anything new to the table, and its basics may be considered old. It still is an great game for all those who like this kind of atmosphere and rich world, that set it apart from the bulk of today's productions.

Supermassive Games has successfully embraced the world of Nowhere, enriching it with both its narrative and its dynamic duo. Little Nightmares 3 shines with its anxiety-inducing atmosphere, meticulous staging, and a soundtrack that carefully punctuates every moment of tension. As for the gameplay, it constantly changes pace to keep us engaged. We move from captivating exploration to infiltration, with moments of more intense action in between. We regret a few inaccuracies in the handling and some room for improvement in terms of performance. But overall, this third installment is a success that should be even more enjoyable for two players, as long as you play online.

There is nothing better than a beautiful trip into the wilderness to rekindle primal platforming instincts, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze gets even cooler through this Funky, yet still challenge heavy "Switchmake".

After an average Dragon Rising episode, Codemasters corrects a lot of shortcomings and delivers, this time around, a more convincing tactical FPS. If the basics remain the same, with a similar technical side and order system, large and open environments, etc. the AI behaviors have been enhanced. This makes Red River a game that is still difficult, but less frustrating, and more immersive. It's also an experience you'll want to share online. A title that's not for everyone, but one that will appeal to virtual soldiers thanks to a unique design.

Life is Strange keeps on being charming. Relationships and secrets are well explored, choices count really much, and the unexpected outcome is so stunning that it will make the wait for the next episode quite unbearable.

Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is clearly a radically different experience from its illustrious predecessor. Despite the regrettable loss of the "role-playing" aspect and the emblematic freedom of the first episode in favor of a more typical "narrative action-RPG" format, its sequel still does a good job of immersing us with undeniable mastery in the unique atmosphere of the World of Darkness. This is notably thanks to a fascinating story carried by two characters offering a beautiful duality; with two gameplays that skillfully complement each other by alternating truly exhilarating action/infiltration phases and investigation phases with a well-placed touch of madness. The title of The Chinese Room, however, suffers from a totally anecdotal open world, and a technical aspect that is certainly not unpleasant to look at, but which needs a little refinement to properly display its enticing vampire fangs.

Guacamelee! was an excellent game when it was originally released last year. It was improved upon since then.

A good version of the first game. Smooth and tearingless, this episode keeps on being an excellent beat them all that, despite some minor flaws, can be considered as a fantastic way to discover this insane and stunning IP from PlatinumGames.

A year after its release, Tiny Bookshop is still a breath of fresh air in the gaming world. The proposition is modest but satisfying in many ways. Neoludic proves that you don’t need big effects or ultra-complex mechanics to be effective. Even though several aspects of the gameplay could stand to be a tad more refined to captivate us even further, the game is truly what you might call a gem to be savored in small doses—one you’ll happily return to whenever you need a peaceful escape.

A must play. That’s the word for Marvel Rivals after two weeks. The game is not perfect, far from it, but it has the merit of associating fan service with real content, with a revisit of the hero shooter genre, what the last competitors behind Overwatch had obviously not assimilated well or succeeded. Marvel Rivals has a future ahead of it if the NetEase follow-up remains the same. And the gaming community is listened to. It’s free, and playing Iron Man is fun so you’d be wrong to miss out on one of the best Marvel video games today. If it is not the best...

Hokuto Ga Gotoku is clearly one of the best, if not the best, Fist of the North Star video games. Using the Yakuza system was a good idea as it fits with the FOTNS like a glove. It's just too bad that the game runs on Yakuza 0's and not Yakuza 6's engine.

Even though Lexis went further on several fronts for this new episode of the series, it hasn't always been in the right direction... The story for instance, lacks the sense of mystery that blessed the original, and some game mechanics seem artificially harder. But the charm of the city of Metropolis still works, and we'll be looking forward the third episode.

GRID Autosport is a really good racing game, delivering terrific sensations, but it suffers poor AI, technical issues on PS3 and 360 (the PC version is MUCH better visually) and a lack of new content.

Rise & Rise is a lovely game. But a very punitive one, too. A lot of players will respond to its attractive visuals and soundtrack . But some of them will probably be a bit frustrated by the whole - not very long though - challenge, with a lot of deaths for sure, they'll be facing. Still a great way to start 2017.

The Order: 1886 is a good game and a great interactive movie. Not revolutionary in terms of gameplay, it offers fantastic art direction, good storytelling and, more generally, a true sense of elegance. It just lacks a bit of substance and some unforgettable scenes to make it a great game.

One year after its mobile release, Reed 2 lands on consoles, and ports its fifty tiny levels of simple yet demanding platformer mechanics to new players. With its charming ambience and beautiful pixel art style, the game suffers from tiny imprecisions, but will still give a nice appetizer to never-asking fans of the genre, despite its brevity.

As Blazing Chrome, Vengeful Guardian Moonrider is a neat tribute to old action games. It really feels like a lost Mega Drive title, but on more modern platforms. A good retro trip with a gorgeous aesthetics from the 90s and a soundtrack that could have been in a Streets of Rage game. Imperfect, yes, but generous.

A solid way to start with this season. This first episode shows some potential for what's to come and lets us live some quite disturbing sequences. Too bad Telltale still can't deliver something more polished technically speaking, though.

Resident Evil 3 is a good game that doesn't manage to reach the heights that Resident Evil 2 did. Nemesis has a great new look but he doesn't instill fear like Mr. X did last year. The game is also quite short. Resident Evil Resistance has an interesting concept but suffers from balancing and technical issues.

NBA Playgrounds is a fun addition to the arcade basketball genre, especially on the Nintendo Switch. The game isn't without some flaws though. The AI is unfair and the shooting mechanics are very tough to master. Releasing the game without its online mode is also a strange choice. That being said, the game offers more than enough to allow fans of NBA Jam and NBA Street to have a good time. Let's just hope that Saber will soon fix the game's issues.

A good game to play between your XCOM or Xenonauts sessions, with interesting characters, a great setting and a simple but efficient gameplay. RPG mechanisms don't prevail on tactical choices, as the game make you face a growing threat. A pretty good job from Robotality. Not perfect, but worth the price.

For a Musô-inspired beat'em all, this On Piece will probably delight the fans of the manga. Visuals are top-notch in terms of cel-shaded fidelity, boss combats are epic, and the gameplay solid enough, except maybe the QTE sequences which, quite quickly, become repetitive and annoying.

Hearts of Stone can be considered as a good way to meet Geralt again. This expansion drags us into a captivating story with fascinating characters. Even though its difficulty is far from perfectly set and some additions (runewords particularly) don't feel very useful, it's a pleasure to be able to ride with Geralt to some new locations and accomplish a few more new side quests.

Grim Fandango was a fantastic adventure game 17 years ago, and it's still the same today. We just hoped the remaster to be up to it, and it's not totally the case.

It looks like a game for children but it definitely presents a challenge for adults. Very well conceived, not really merciful and full of crafting ideas that makes us genuinely surprised, The Escapist suffers a bit from redundancy and a lack of storytelling. But in the end, it still is a very entertaining (and joyfully painful) experience.

Being on the bridge of a Starfleet ship in VR is a very satisfying experience, as long as you are a Star Trek fan, of course. But after these very good first impressions, Star Trek Bridge Crew lacks a bit of surprise and variety in its missions.

Paved with good intentions, this new FPS from 4A Games comes up short in terms of gameplay (mostly because of a poor AI). That's too bad because its atmosphere and story are rich and interesting. It's a good experience if you're able to pace yourself like the game needs you to in order to shine; to help you there, it's also a shame that the "Ranger" difficulty mode has to be purchased as a DLC.

A good episode delivering a large environment, a quite long mission, lots of NPC - not as bright as they should be - and some good opportunities to shine as a silent assassin and enjoy it.

Recycling DriveClub with a VR twist, DriveClub VR offers a lot of content and challenges, and above all gives us a new sense of immersion that is really enjoyable. Of course the PlayStation VR player pays that with a global visual downgrade, but the deal is still a good one, especially with this PSVR launch line-up, where DriveClub has no competitor yet.

The portable Assassin's Creed we were waiting for is there, and it's capable. The feeling is there, the story enjoyable, and there's even some extras (commerce, multikills, gameplay altering costumes, touch features, etc.). But it's hard not to point out a clear lack of polish.

Still pleasant in terms of presentation, The Lost Lords is a good addition to the first episode. Maybe we could have been more pleased if more events or decisions had come to shock us. But every step makes us think that the next chapters won't be as "calm" as this one.

Completely aimed at eSport, Shootmania offers a gameplay that will not please everyone. The weapon system will be hated by many, loved by some, who will praise that skills is everything in this FPS. A good title but aimed at a niche market.

Well, this port is quite the disappointment: laggy framerate, blurry, not even able to reach 60fps docked. It is quite hard to recommend this port to anyone who already played Ys VIII. For the others, if you own a PS4, PC or a Vita, buy these versions instead. Otherwise, go for the Nintendo Switch because even though this port is lazy, Ys VIII remains an excellent J-RPG which deserves to be enjoyed by as many people as possible.

Tacoma is a rightful heir to Gone Home. Exploration of the station, with the possibility to learn about the crew through holographic projections, makes us feel we are in a very lively place and the main story, that wants us to think about capitalism and I.A.'s future is captivating, even thought the experience is quite short.
