    Finally an anime game which doesn't only use the franchise name to call attention. One Piece: Pirate Warriors looks great, it's fun and provides the whole One Piece Experience, starting with Ruffy's fight against Buggy.

    One Piece: Pirate Warriors isn't the game of the year but it's probably the best game in the series. Some can say it's just a Dynasty Warriors-like, with all the problems that come with it, but it's a good one. The use of Quick Time Events is clever and brings some kind of renewal to the gameplay. Most of all, Pirate Warriors is the most accurate episode and it will be no problem to convince the fans.

    For a Musô-inspired beat'em all, this On Piece will probably delight the fans of the manga. Visuals are top-notch in terms of cel-shaded fidelity, boss combats are epic, and the gameplay solid enough, except maybe the QTE sequences which, quite quickly, become repetitive and annoying.

    Given the lack of polish and execution, the price might be a stretch for those unfamiliar with the franchise, but for loyal fans of the series, or Sh'nen manga in general, One Piece: Pirate Warriors is bursting at the seams with rich content, and is probably one of the better anime influenced games to come out in awhile.

    But make no bones about it,: this is Musou by the numbers. You can't get more risk averse than a Dynasty Warriors clone with an anime license attached, and it plays as derivative as it sounds.

    One Piece fans will enjoy the novelty but only Dynasty Warriors groupies will be able to bear the typically mindless gameplay.

    The graphics are spot on, being either very good or absolutely excellent (the fur on Chopper the reindeer for example). The game play is mostly either fighting legions of pirates or quick-time events. The quick-time events are done well (much better than many other games that use them) and their use makes sense. The fighting is enjoyable as there are plenty of techniques and characters, and the boss battles are memorable. The story follows the series very closely.

    There is also an online option where you fight alongside other players against tons of computer controlled pirates, with the goal of securing all regions on the map. All the other usual features are there that you'd expect (like character profiles and other One Piece story info).    … Expand

    I am not particularly a One Piece fan (though I did watch the first 50-100 episodes of the anime), and this game is no more than merelyI am not particularly a One Piece fan (though I did watch the first 50-100 episodes of the anime), and this game is no more than merely entertaining to me. I think its biggest problem is the repetitiveness of the goals and winning conditions. Besides, the combat system is not as good as it could probably be, even though the number of characters is quite large. I guess you will appreciate the game more if, unlike me, you are a true fan of the original manga; however, I do not believe that is the only reason why this is far from being a top-quality anime video game.… Expand
