Killzone: Shadow Fall is a very good tech demo for the PS4, but also an excellent FPS with nothing to be ashamed of in front of Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty Ghosts in terms of gameplay and multiplayer experience. Sony's game does even better with an open gameplay, where the use of the combat drone was well thought out at start. Shadow Fall is maybe a bit less spectacular and fast-paced than Killzone 3 in it's solo mode, but it gained in open-mindness much to our enjoyment. The exploration is a new element to be reckoned with which is a good thing when you know you're going to spend hours staring at those marvelous graphics that set the tone for the story. Giving the player some choices, that's the mainstay of a game which keeps its promises in spite of a few polishing flaws. A game that offers a very good solo and multiplayer and should appeal to most gamers.- JeuxActu

By adapting Super Mario 3D World on Nintendo Switch and adding an unprecedented adventure to it, Nintendo is playing finely and scores points. Indeed, fans who have already played the original game on Wii U and those who missed it at the time have a good reason to get Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. This iteration perfectly complements Super Mario 3D World, don't miss it.- JeuxActu

New art direction, more attractive graphics, a multitude of new animations, facial expressions for Mario, his friends and even enemies, and humor everywhere, this Super Mario Wonder has done things in a big way for his return as a 2D platform game. The setting is magnificent, but the gameplay is also breathtaking. It must be said that Nintendo had fun and the imagination of the developers was overflowing. A game design idea at each new level is a bit of the promise of this game, which manages to give new life into a saga that will soon be 40 years old. Six years ago, Nomada Studio made a name for itself with Gris, an atypical platformer, which went off the beaten track and whose sincere intentions made it possible to see that even among indies, we are still capable of standing out. Neva takes up this same ideology by pushing the desire even further. By completely embracing this osmosis with nature, by drawing unabashed inspiration from the works of Hayao Miyazaki and the productions of Studio Ghibli, the Spanish developers of Nomada transport us into an absolutely captivating universe where each moment, each screen gives the feeling of contemplating the painting of an accomplished artist, that of Conrad Roset. With the COVID crisis, the birth of his child, his relationship has changed and this evolution in his personality is also felt in Neva, a game where the need to help each other, to take care of each other is felt in this dying world. Nothing is lost despite appearances, an optimistic message that will guide the player in an experience like no other has offered us. The platform is still relevant, the puzzles are still as enjoyable, but we have gained in ferocity and adversity, thanks to this katana put in the hand of Alba, our heroine, capable of many things and movements. Her hand-made animations are sublime, her fight too, while Neva, this wolf cub who is growing up visibly, is a character that we also want to cuddle. Sublime.- JeuxActu

With Empire of the Ants, Microids has its first major game, capable of holding its own against the big productions of 2024. The sentence may seem surreal to some, given the inglorious past of the french company (even if it has some very decent and very enjoyable titles in its catalog, let's not forget), but the effort is very real. By betting on the developers of Tower Five, the French publisher has hit the nail on the head, because not only has the studio proven that it has mastered the use of Unreal Engine 5 to perfection, making their title one of the most beautiful games of this year, but they have also found the perfect formula for adapting the RTS to consoles, with controller controls.- JeuxActu

Top Spin is back in 2024. An almost surreal phrase after 13 years of absence. And yet, through persistence and belief, the best tennis game of all time is back, and it does not disappoint. It must be said that 2K Games and Hangar 13 took as few risks as possible, by resuming the basics of Top Spin 4 gameplay. Readjustments and some modifications were however made to give more consistency and depth, and erase the few aspects that could still be improved, such as serving, volleying and a clear increase in fouls or balls going out of bounds. It was the best compromise to make in any case, as the gameplay was already divine at the time and has reached unparalleled heights today. More than ever, timing and placement must be managed to the millimeter to be sure to hit exactly and in the right place, which guarantees an even crazier margin for progress, even when you were already a top spin 4 leader. With Top Spin 2K25, never has a tennis game been so varied in its exchanges, and the fluidity of its rhythm.- JeuxActu

It's true that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is very similar to the first episode with the same structure, the same gameplay, the same assets, the same flaws and still residual bugs that sometimes make you smile, but Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is an RPG of quite incredible depth, with a proposal so radical and so against what is done in AAA video games that it totally goes off the beaten track. I hadn't done the first episode, just watched the tester at the time play it and I didn't understand the craze. I won't hide from you that the first 15 hours were painful, sometimes painful, because once again, the proposal was so radical that it went beyond my codes, my habits. Nevertheless, we feel that behind this harshness, this almost unhealthy rigor hid a game of great richness and I am not unhappy to have persevered, because the gratification is great, but the pleasure is also total. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is definitely not a game for everyone, but if you can buy into the proposition, then you're in for a game like no other.- JeuxActu

To fully appreciate the experience offered by Hellblade 2, you obviously have to agree with the proposal from the English at Ninja Theory, because yes, the game is divisive. With its minimalist, not to say basic, gameplay, its straight line crossing that can be done in 8 hours in the first run, the purists of the classic and basic video game may indeed frown on these precise aspects, and it would be difficult to tell them blame. But it is also fashionable to remember that video games are vast and the experiences different, and this is exactly what the developers of Ninja Theory are offering us, namely an invitation to a journey from which we do not emerge unscathed.- JeuxActu

We can't really say that Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is revolutionary because in the end Retro Studios just follows the recipe that worked well on the Wii, but with undeniable success. The HD textures allow better graphics, and the dynamic camera adds depth to the environment. Though the gameplay is precise as ever, we still regret that the gamepad features were not used at all. A bad point when you think that the co-op was well improved during the treasure hunts. The try and die mechanics are quite rage-inducing, but not enough to shake Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze on its feet. Undoubtedly, this game is an instant classic of the Wii U, the first of 2014. Far from the appeal of a Fallout 3, Metro Last Light bets on a really dark and nerve racking post-apocalyptic ambiance. This undoubtedly is the strong point of the game, but not the only one. The latest 4A's Games subtly mixes gunfights, stealth approach and storyline that confirm the literary roots of the script. Offering good immersion despite some minor problems with the AI, the game leads the player in a very intricate world. A world where the beauty of the graphics allows to forget about the drawbacks mentioned, especially on PC with potent graphics cards where the game can be put through its paces. If the fans of Metro 2033 will swear at the distribution method of the "Ranger" mode, they can be reassured, Metro Last Light is as good as it's prequel, and maybe even better.- JeuxActu

So, did Housemarque dumb things down with Saros? Honestly, no. They just found a smarter way to open the game up to more players. The Carcosian modifiers let you tweak the difficulty however you want, which is a nice touch. But make no mistake, the game is still hard. It’ll test your patience, push you to the edge, and yeah, you’ll probably rage a bit. Because at its core, it’s still that same addictive loop : you fail, you learn, you try again. It’s frustrating, but also super rewarding. You quit and then come back five minutes later. Now sure, it’s a bit less brutal than Returnal. More structured, a bit more accessible. Some people will miss that raw edge, others will appreciate the balance. It does feel like it runs out of steam a bit after the credits, but overall? It’s still a really solid, intense experience. We thought that this year again Call of Duty would continue to do the bare minimum to feed its community, but we were wrong. Black Ops 6 is indeed returning to quality, and we find ourselves with what is undoubtedly one of the best episodes of the last 10 years, whether it's the single-player campaign, the gameplay, the Zombies mode, the Multiplayer, everything has been carefully worked on to make the overall experience worth it. We were pleasantly surprised, starting with the campaign which varies the situations, with sometimes more classic and spectacular missions, but also more open levels, with finally interesting things to do. The game becomes less directive and even allows itself to try things with unexpected supernatural sequences at this level. We even have to face bosses, something unheard of for a Call of Duty game. The introduction of omni-movement brings a lot to the game, with larger, more natural movements that make the game more fluid, and with which we can combine a more nervous, more impactful gunplay. In multiplayer, the experience is also very pleasant, with a Zombie mode that returns to the sources and the waves to shoot down, even if we have to make do with two poor maps at launch. Fortunately, multiplayer and Warzone are there to fill this gap, especially since this year the new "Execution Order" mode is undoubtedly one of the best finds in the series.- JeuxActu

Nobody saw it coming, but Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has ended up being one of 2025’s biggest surprises. When we tried it out at Summer Game Fest back in June, we knew it had potential as a solid Souls-like, but we didn’t expect it to be this good. he Chinese studio Leenzee didn’t just try to copy the Souls formula, they really took the time to understand what makes the genre tick, and then built something that feels deeply rooted in Chinese culture. That unique identity is one of its biggest strengths, and it brings a refreshing brightness and atmosphere you don’t usually see in these kinds of games. Technically, Wuchang Fallen Feathers also delivers, it’s stable, smooth, and well put together. Thanks to Unreal Engine 5, the game looks stunning, with beautiful panoramas and a nice variety of environments. Now, sure, it’s not perfect. Some parts can get a bit frustrating, the enemy variety isn’t always amazing (though the boss fights are seriously cool), and there are a few difficulty spikes that feel a bit off. But honestly, those flaws don’t take away from the overall experience.- JeuxActu

Despite a disappointing ending, Left behind is a much needed DLC, be it only to know how Ellie was able to protect herself from the outside, after being a naïve girl. This behavior evolution is magnified by winter episodes that remind the player that The Last of Us's gameplay has not aged a bit. This second installment reinforces the eternal bond between Hugo and Amicia, increases the number of rats displayed on the screen tenfold, enriches its combat system, introduces interesting new characters, and moves up a gear.- JeuxActu

With a certain lack of new games since the launch of the PS4, there was some pressure on inFAMOUS Second Son. This new installment is the first in the series to become a symbol of a new generation of consoles. If the game isn't error-free, it's also exhilarating once you get a rather large range of super-powers. Like the former episodes, Second Son offers a very powerful feeling of freedom. Added to beautiful visuals that generate lighting and particle effects all over the place, you can say InFAMOUS Second Son is the handsome guy of the PS4.- JeuxActu

Splinter Cell: Blacklist wanted to go back to basics. By throwing a handful of RPG elements into the games, Ubisoft signs a great Splinter Cell that in spite of some faults, is a rightful heir to the franchise. Without revolutionizing the genre, it should seduce without trouble any lover of the genre or any fan of infiltration games. Powered with a powerful scenario and a well known graphics engine, Tom Clancy's franchise hands back a clean work without revolution but with enough evolutions to please the gamers.- JeuxActu

With Tekken 8, Bandai Namco has found the right formula to bring together VS Fighting noobs and experts under the same gameplay. Easier to access than Street Fighter, King of Fighters and even Mortal Kombat, Tekken 8 is also there to make the show visual for spectators. We had fun, even if the Story mode is very kitsch, the Tekken Ball mode is useless and we would have liked something other than Mii avatars.- JeuxActu

This PC port fulfills its role very well because it cancels a lot of limitations of the Switch version. The framerate is no longer stuck at 30 frames per second, the resolution can go up to 4K, some textures are much more detailed, and loading times are noticeably reduced. However, we should not expect either that this former Nintendo exclusive will miraculously transform into graphic mastery worthy of the biggest productions of 2022.- JeuxActu

Payday 2 is undoubtedly the biggest surprise of august 2013. We were not expecting a game of such a quality from Overkill Software, moreover if you experienced the first episode of the serie. Even the price of 30 euros was leaving us skeptical, but Payday 2 hacks your brains with its intense and addictive gameplay. It's simple and it works, outpacing the ad's promises. With an almost unlimited replayability, payday 2 will challenge your brains with multitasking between a heist to manage, a team to keep alive and hordes of aggressive copas. Simply brilliant!- JeuxActu

Super Mario 3D World is using mechanics from another century, but is Nintendo to blame if old recipes still work? The risk-taking stays minimal, and the core gamers will mostly enjoy the two last worlds in spite of a difficulty level that has improved significantly. Impossible to forget the level design and the precision of the gameplay, which defines the game. Even the multiplayer mode is good in spite of some camera problems. Nintendo set everything to perfection and most players should enjoy this Super Mario 3D World.- JeuxActu

The main attraction in Titanfall remains the gameplay. On this side, there is no doubt that Respawn did a really great job. It's excellent, handy even with the profusion of possibilities. The parts of the game you play in Titans and you play on your feet are very well-balanced as well. However, it's difficult to hide the small number of modes and their lack of originality.- JeuxActu

If Nintendo refuses to start developing new licenses, it's only because the firm already has enough talent to efficiently renew it's existing ones with a success others have yet to match. Luigi's Mansion 2 is a perfect example of this pattern as Luigi's new adventures in haunted houses hack your mind like drugs once the player understands the finer points of the game. The gameplay has a great finesse which is very enjoyable and the directing along the general atmosphere are almost a masterpiece. Of course the lack of a second controlling stick is not the best feature of the game and we would have liked a multiplayer mode with more rhythm. But the number of qualities provided by Luigi's Mansion 2 makes this game a classic of the 3DS lineup.- JeuxActu

Translating 13 years of legacy into a gigantic open world was quite a big challenge, and FromSoftware did it brilliantly with Zelda Breath of the Wild as a guide. We expected a lot from Dead Space 3 and were not disappointed. The game keeps all its promises, with true moments of tension proving that Visceral Games hasn’t betrayed the Dead Space series. Horror is there, and we have never seen such violent Necromorphs. This perfect balance between action sequences and anguish is efficient, avoiding Dead Space 3 making the same mistake as Resident Evil 6. But we must be honest with the fans: if the next Dead Space has more action scenes, there will be reason to fear the worst. Since it’s not a perfect game, it’s important to highlight the poor cover system and the lack of boss fights. Although the deep weapon crafting system is likely to annoy the purists, Dead Space 3 remains a great experience you have to live.- JeuxActu

We can now say it : Dynasty Warriors is a license that has come a long way, a very long way even. After a decade of going around in circles, multiplying episodes that don't care and failed attempts to do like the West with its poorly put-together open worlds, the saga ended up getting lost. But neither Koei Tecmo nor the Omega Force studio gave up, and after a good bit of soul searching, the two entities were able to identify the choices to make to make this saga shine again, which has been reborn from its ashes. Thanks to producer Tomohiko Sho, Dynasty Warriors Origins was able to take a 180 degree turn, without denying its fundamentals. We are still dealing with a massive, brutal and enjoyable beat'em all on the surface, but which has been able to refine its gameplay in order to make it more demanding and even more satisfying.- JeuxActu

Spec Ops The Line is a good TPS whose lack of originality regarding its gameplay mechanics can be easliy criticized. And yet, the title offers a great experience, depicting a bright and apocalyptic vision of Dubaï, just as if players were there. The mise-en-scène of Spec Ops The Line also manages to share, both psychologically and physically, the craziness experienced by our heroes. Finally, the classic multiplayer modes make us forget the short time needed to finish the main campaign.- JeuxActu
