Kevin Spacey is Jonathan Irons -- one of the most notorious men in the world -- shaping this chilling vision of the future of war. The game unfolds in a plausible future in which technological, telesis and today's military practices have converged with real world consequences. In this image of the future, Private Military Corporations have become the dominant armed forces for many countries who must outsource their military needs, redrawing borders and rewriting international law. Irons, the founder and president of the world's largest PMC, Atlas Corporation, is at the vortex of these tectonic plates.

Suit up for combat in exoskeletons that advance every facet of a soldier's battle readiness, enabling combatants to deploy with an advanced lethality and eliminating the need for specialization. Players tout enhanced player movement and verticality through boost jumps and grappling, covert cloaking abilities, and biomechanics that provide keen strength, awareness, endurance, and speed. With the advent of the exoskeleton and newly advanced armor and weaponry, every soldier commands tactical freedom in any terrain unlike ever before.

This is a Call of Duty game to its core, but one that rehashes as little as possible while still retaining its strengths.

Sledgehammer Games has given players a greater feeling of customization that goes beyond the cosmetic of an emblem and given way to random unlocks and a great number of modifications.

So that’s my final opinion on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The single-player is phenomenal, and the multiplayer is good but limited by its own unlock system.

The multiplayer maps need work, but otherwise this is the best Call of Duty game in years. [Jan 2015, p.66]

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is not a revolution; it is rather an evolution that is what to be expected for a game that is renewed every year.

The campaign doesn't have much to offer, and Kevin Spacey can only do so much. On the other hand, the multiplayer gameplay shows some courage, making this the best online COD experience since the first Black Ops.

Advanced Warfare executes the formula competently while adding a handful of bells and whistles like mechs, laser cannons, and double jumps; but Sledgehammer Games seems reluctant to really cut loose and push the setting to its fullest potential, making Advanced Warfare a solid but ultimately unexciting entry in the series.

TheHaven't finished the campaign yet but it has been fun. The new game mechanics and cinematics are great. How can you not like Kevin Spacey? The multiplayer is new. Not boring like Ghost was. I do think the graphics have been dumbed down though so that the look is not so obviously different on the two consoles. Last year ghost looked much better on ps4. The learning curve may be a little steep for casual gamers which is probably not a great thing. The allure of cod has always been its ease of access for all level of players. The quick scope crowd may not be happy with this game either. The movement of the game doesn't lend itself to the quick scope sniper. Gun balance is ok so far but hard to judge any of that before a few patches. If you are a fan of cod, you will assist and have fun. If you have never played cod, then I'd say pick it up for the campaign and give the multiplayer a try. Over all not a bad game. Expand

I've played every version back to WaW. CoD Ghosts almost broke my interest in the franchise. It was a pile of garbage, period. Advanced Warfare has restored my faith in the series.

The multiplayer is smooth and gorgeous. Sledgehammer seems to have found a happy medium between the super tiny, three lane monotony of BO2 with the huge, incongruous monstrosities that were featured on Ghosts. The exo suit additions are decent changes, but nothing that will knock your socks off. Hit detection seems good, although time/shots to kill need to be brought down a bit, imo. The new, update "pick 13" system was a great decision by Sledgehammer, and lets you customize your killstreak rewards in ways never before possible.

Overall, this is a solid CoD game. If you are a fan of the series, you will enjoy it and be grateful that they did not let Ghosts sound the death knell of the CoD franchise. There are a few balance issues and tweaks to work out, but overall, I am pleased thus far.

The exo-survival is the weakest point of the title. It is essentially a horde mode in which you fight against enemies with exo-suits.It is a good time with friends but repetition spoils the fun at the end.It is here to provide an extra level of strategy and present a new challenge to fans of horde mode.

The multiplayer is a breath of fresh air for the franchise since it uses new gameplay mechanics that make the game more fast paced and fun to play. However, there are several issues that will hopefully be sorted out through patch support.Gun variety is absent at this point as only 2-3 weapons seem to be really effective.Exo abilities are not very useful and scorestreaks lack lethality. The game had a rough launch with a lot of lag but I can safely say that the PS4 online experience is the smoothest after the 2 connection patches that came out. I also played the game on Xbox One but I decided to review it on the ps4 section since multiplayer is working properly on this version of the game.As more consoles are sold in all regions connection will be evened out but I'd give the edge to the ps4 just from personal experience.(this is the first time I am satisfied from a CoD game connection wise on psn because all previous CoDs seemed to have worse ports on ps3/ps4).Lag or no lag,the game is fun to play and difficult to master.

    VERDICT:
    +Spectacular Campaign
    +Fun Multiplayer
    +New mechanics

    -Lack of depth
-Not ready out of the box

I give Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare a 7/10 and I'd gladly recommend it to CoD veterans. It seems like this game is not Call Of Duty's dying breath but another year of killing and killing and killing...

Today is probably the last time I will play a call of duty game, sadly. It used to be something to look forward to the new maps, new weapons, and various things. I have been playing call of duty since the very first game so yah, I am older now and I don't have the reflexes of the kiddies so my play style is slower and more tactical.
That said, all of the cool stuff that they have previously had in the game has been removed. The maps, the weapons, everything is designed just to keep guys running from one end of the map shooting at each other. No cool new grenades, no more bettys or claymores because too many people whined about getting blown up.
Remember Black ops 2, it had some cool stuff like the microwave emitter and new things like a plantable shield. AW has that too but it's useless against guys flying over the top of it so why even put it in?
They have a 12 round grenade launcher and other things that go boom but they are utterly useless.
On top of all that this game is just dull too. The maps are lifeless, the narrator sounds generic and bored. The music is flat.
All that said I will get to the jumping. I personally do not like it but I can see that some people would. For me, it does not belong in a call of duty game.
Call of duty started out as a game in which you played or assumed the role of various soldiers in various countries from various time periods such as WW1, WW2, Vietnam, etc. With Ghosts, it was just different factions of guys wearing ski masks.
Now with AW it's the titans vs the sentinels? This game is not call of duty anymore.
For all of the guys who complained that all they ever wanted was to run around with only guns you got what you wanted.
But what about the rest of us that liked cool new weapons and gadgets? This game has the wrist firing grenade launcher but they are all pretty much a waste of time. Just window dressing to show that they are there.
They also have a laser weapon that shoots a constant beam which I really thought was cool, until I realized that guys with bullet firing guns were killing me so fast that it made the E1 a waste of a choice.
The kill streaks are a bummer too. Barely anything flying over head because god forbid we upset anyone from a harrier or helicopter making it too hard for people. And no more good turret anymore that fires on it's own, you have to operate it because hey, we really only want a balanced game.
And lets talk about the flaws in the game. First off, every game has like half the players lagging. Secondly, every time someone chats on their mic or breathes it shows up practically in the middle of the screen. It's like they screwed up on the resolution for just the chat info. This is on the PS4 btw, not sure how the X1 looks.
For all of the complaints at least GHOSTS looked and felt like a war game. The game mechanics were bad, people shooting you in one bullet and shooting you from precarious angles that you could never be shot from in reality.
Does anyone remember MW2 and how many cool points on the map people would fight over, or how BLOPS had an elevator or mounted guns. This new COD has none of that. Remember when the stats were built into the game as in BLOPS?
Remember RPG's, The Javelin, and the army of one bag? None of that here. Just vanilla running and jumping and shooting.
For $59 bucks you take a step back to what COD might have looked like in the 80's had better graphics been available. Yet this is supposed to be futuristic warfare.
This game is the lovechild of Unreal tournament, Call of Duty, Halo, And Titanfall. Except it's NOT a good thing. For all of you that are having fun I salute you but think back to the classic COD games like MW2 where it actually felt like you were in combat.
This AW is a kids game, designed to appeal to very young kids with fast reflexes. And if you listen in to the chat lobby it shows.
And before you say it's because I am bad at this game and to get better, I have been pretty solid at these games, even Ghosts which i didn't care for. But this game, it just is not drawing me in and I bet the servers for this game dry up in a couple months.

The campaign was alright, though that is mainly due to the good voice acting. The multiplayer is bad once again. It doesn't work as a public game nor as an eSports game. Boosts really hurt the gameplay especially in SnD. Latency and lag issues are worse than they were in Ghosts.

The game looks cool, but it certainly isn't.
