Delivering a stunning performance, Academy Award winning actor Kevin Spacey stars as Jonathan Irons -- one of the most powerful men in the world -- shaping this chilling vision of the future of war. The game takes place in a plausible future in which technological progress and today's military practices have converged with powerful consequences. In this carefully researched and crafted vision of the future, Private Military Corporations (PMCs) have become the dominant armed forces for countless nations outsourcing their military needs, redrawing borders and rewriting the rules of war. And Jonathan Irons, the founder and president of the world's largest PMC, Atlas Corporation, is at the center of it all.

Suit up for combat in exoskeletons that evolve every aspect of a soldier's battle readiness, enabling combatants to deploy with an advanced lethality and eliminating the need for specialization. Players experience enhanced player movement and verticality through boost jumps and grappling, covert cloaking abilities, and biomechanics that provide unparalleled strength, awareness, endurance, and speed. With the advent of the exoskeleton and newly advanced armor and weaponry, every soldier commands tactical freedom in any terrain unlike ever before, fundamentally changing the way gamers play Call of Duty across all modes

By designing the levels in the campaign, co-op, and multiplayer to facilitate those new mechanics, Advanced Warfare is granted a weight and importance that changes how the fast-paced shooting action feels in all three modes.

This game is a lot of fun. There’s some Crysis in it, some Titanfall, some elements borrowed from Unreal Tournament and Battlefield. Underneath it’s still Call of Duty though, finally modernized in terms of visuals. [13/2014, p.50]
  3. Even though Advanced Warfare has a cliche scenario like Ghosts, multiplayer is still fun.

Despite the dismal showing of Call of Duty: Ghosts, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare shows that it’s not quite time to write off this series yet, and I just may be back next year to see if the improvements continue or if this game turned out to be just a fluke.

It's the best Call of Duty campaign in years, and the multiplayer continues to scratch a certain itch. [Jan 2015, p.64]

The story is nothing to write home about, but the multiplayer is great fun as long as the servers are working.

For the second year in the row, Activision, like a crafty snake oil peddler, pushes ‘a next-gen Call of Duty’ by replacing developers, locations and characters. Goodbye, German cyber-shepherd, orbital kinetic missiles and a crazy Venezuelan dictator. Hello, exoskeletons, holograms and a corporate megalomaniac played by Kevin Spacey. But the glitzy CG cinematics and sweet PR songs hide the stale 10-year old gameplay formula.

I know it's early to make such a sweeping statement but the game just oozes brilliance on a number of levels. It is streets ahead of Ghosts in every aspect and really puts Infinity Ward to absolute shame. Even Treyarch need to raise their game for next year. Sledgehammer have essentially taken the best aspects of past games and fused them into their very own interpretation along with delivering their own brand of unique ideas.

The gameplay is fast, the guns are incredible fun, the matches flow superbly and every second is really enjoyable. The maps are simply stunning to look at and their designs & layouts make way for some frantic action.

The optimisation for PC which has been heavily questioned after Ghosts and Sledgehammer's silence in the media; is actually riddled with depth and all the key elements to compliment your rig. I really did not expect much but they really have hit the nail on the head from a technical standpoint.

I've not enjoyed COD since the Black Ops days but this is a game that really rejuvenates my desire for the franchise. After the pitiful Ghosts last year; this game simply had to deliver and it truly has. SHG took a risk for their first outing and it really paid off in what could be a genre-defining title.

AW is one kof the best games ever made. graphically, technically and in it's ambition, its immense. To me it's a easily a 9 out of 10.AW is one kof the best games ever made. graphically, technically and in it's ambition, its immense. To me it's a easily a 9 out of 10. Learning curve for multiplayer is steep but it allows you to use your brain once you get the hang of it.

The people that score AAA games like this a 0,1,2 or 3 out of 10 are abusing the privilege of expressing their opinion. 6 out of 10 is a bad game these days and probably not worth buying. To score a game 0 it would have to crash at the menus every time you inserted the disc and then literally eject itself and try to decapitate you!

Not sure where this desire to online hate manifests from. The impotent rage in some of the user reviews frustrates me but I suppose we can only accept it as a phenomenon of the technological age and not fall into the trap of hating as a response.

Gameplay was fun, guns felt great and overall it delieverd a great COD game.
A lot of people are frustrated with bugs and fps drops, most of them i fixed by changing one setting.
The fps drops does get to you sometimes and therefor i can not give it a 10/10
But for the enjoyable time Advanced Warfare gave me i think it deserves it.
You shouldn't listen to every one that just gets frustrated with the small stuff and give the game a lousy score, read the reviews here and you can see most of them are about the same issue.
This game is worth your time and worth giving it a chance!

In the end they just end up as a way to escape more than anything. Again the game runs on a 10 year game engine and dosen't have any dedicated servers, along with cheap and worthless game mechanics. * LvL 50 Multiplayer review *

Random? Gun Damage - Two enemies at the same distance, one needs 15 bullets before he dies and the other one dies in 5 bullets, really no clue how this is possible but it happens ALL THE TIME. It really feels like bullets randomly deal between 10%-200% damage

Netcode? - 90% of my deaths feel like I died instantly with no chance to retaliate, my last death I got shot from about 50 meters by a silenced SMG and I died instantly. When I try this, I need to hit a full mag.... Ragequited pretty hard.

Guns - There are only 4 *meta* guns worth using, the rest is just terrible. All shotguns are really bad ( need 2x more range to work ), sometimes need 5 shots at 5 meters distance while enemy needs 3 bullets with his ak12. Snipers need 2-3 hits to kill someone, and it's already hard enough to hit people when they are jumping around like monkeys.

Knifing - I removed the knife keybinding.... I tried to knife people 500+ times and maybe got 3 knife kills out of it. Enemy has to be either in kissing range, to your left or BEHIND you.....

Same Call of Duty, but now with more mobility and lasers for $60...

Its nothing new and nothing special. Call of Duty Advanced Warfare features a boring singleplayer and a laggy, unbalanced and buggy multiplayer. My Computer crashes sometimes when i try to play the game (and its the games fault, not the fault of my hardware). I cant say that its fun, not even a little. Expand
