This is not fun, look at any youtube video of this game before you buy they all look the same. Uninspired maps, outdated engine, monotonous gameplay, laughably bad death rendering, cheap sound effects. Why are you doing this every year? You certainly are not doing it for the initiated gamer!

The shallow attempt to advance this game have gone worthless. I bought it reading the reviews hoping it would be more like Titanfall. I was wrong. The only thing that they changed has been the fact you can jump real high and climb up on stuff, which sounds cool at first, until you realize you move really slow and jumping makes you a bigger/slower target (just like sprinting). So what will happen is, you will run into a room, and get shot in the back by a guy standing in the corner, Just like every other Call of Duty Game ever. The random respawns are horribly annoying because people spawn directly behind you and shoot you in the back. (classic call of duty) The story mode is a joke. I played through the entire Call of Duty Ghost's campaign and thought it was okay it was short but i liked it for the most part. But this is just horrible, The character progression the story, everything seems like a crappy fiction story someone wrote at 12 years old. The graphics are extremely overrated, Lots of terrible terrible environments made shiny by some filters, I wish I could attach some pictures highlighting this, but I cannot. Maybe I am not the best person to be reviewing this because I haven't enjoyed a COD game since MW2 but this game has not brought back anything to the franchise or added any truly new exciting features. Please just let Call of Duty die. Thanks Expand

Well, it has been used YET AGAIN in Advanced Warfare, except this time your wearing a cloaking device instead. It starts of in predictable COD manner, on a plane that is about to explode. And there is the bit where you have to hide and wait for yet another convoy to go by. It just recycles missions from past COD's again. I'm amazed that they even attempted to get away with this, again! It really is short of imagination. The only new things really are a "double jump" and a "dodge move". Advanced Warfare is touted as an all new game that will reignite the franchise. But i don't see how giving people more of the same is doing that. The Future setting has been done to death now too. And Advanced Warfare is basically Black Ops 2.5. It needs to go back to more realistic, current or past warfare. The graphics aren't anything special either. Because the game runs at 60FPS means the graphics have to take a hit. As a result, interiors etc feel very plain, and the maps in multiplayer are dead when it comes to detail and content. But that's the price you have to pay when you want a game to run at 60FPS. Multiplayer is also more of the same but with different guns and a few extra moves. But overall you won't really notice the difference and could easily mistake this for a past COD game that you've already played a million times over. Expand

Demolition game mode will never be played again by me unless I re-purchase a PS3 or an Xbox 360 for me and my friends. Demolition was superb! Where is it? Besides the new graphics and the TitanFall-esque gameplay, this is just boring. 1 good point about the Activision games, they are the ONLY ones who allow people to host private matches, something that is void on every next gen game, PS4 anyways. Advanced Warfare may just well be the best Call of Duty game, if only because it tries to be Titanfall. Which was a damn good game, for all of its lack of content. It's just another call of duty run-and-gun antigravity mess, but now you can jump upwards like you've installed commando and attacked the sun, and you can dash to the side. Glad they're taking ideas from both Titanfall, and a flash game from 2001.

So, originality? Not exactly this game's finest. But, to be fair, it works. It's an acceptable game, and it met my low expectations.
TL;DR Literally painful visuals (It isn't **** cinematic, IGN, it looks like the characters have pedalbin trashcans on their heads when they talk. Their mouths flap open like god damn Goat Simulator.), an unoriginal concept that's executed in a boring way, gameplay that is now more **** and less predictable than CoD: Goats, and an acceptably made shooter overall.
Still, this does more than most games at disproving the theory that games can be considered art. I don't think that anyone made ye olde mad stacks by ripping off the Mona Lisa once every **** year.

My KD ratio has been 2+ since BLOPS 1 but in AW it was exactly 1.00. There's hardly any gunfights. That's what makes COD fun. That's the point. When you die very very quickly and can get shot from 18 different angles you and your enemy will just take turns killing each other in your blind spots. It's just boring as f*ck and the reason I stopped playing. The reason I'm writing this review is because I've just recently read about the BLOPS 3 beta to see if it uses the same movement system/TTK as this game. To be blunt this is not Call of Duty. I dont understand why Activision feels like it needs to keep pushing Call of Duty into the future. Exo suits, lazer guns, and cloaking is not what Call of Duty should be. The only reason I feel AW deserves a 3 is because the map design is very well done and Activision finally added a loot system.

I considered mw3 the worst call of duty of all time and strongly believed no game in this franchise could possibly take its crown, until now. Advanced warfare makes mw3 look like call of duty 4 in comparison, it is a absolute, unconditional disaster with little to no redeeming value.

Starting with the single player, a 4 hour linear shooter with very little story, just you a gun and mowing down endless "bad guys". The voice acting is excellent, but countless quick time events and no character building lead to an irritating, bland and very forgettable single-player experience. If you buy cod for its single-player(not like anyone does) spending £40 for Kevin Spacey(who is House of Cards, but more militarised) is a waste, spend it on lots of prescription drugs to give to your friends who play the multiplayer.

People may not care about Kevin's wacky antics in the single-player and buy this game solely for it multiplayer experience. Well advanced warfare's multiplayer is so bad it does a disservice to it's licence; the spawns are broken with you constantly being shot almost immediately after you spawn in. There is no gun balance, its Bal-27 or ASM-1 otherwise you will just lose every gunfight to the player using those guns(which is everyone). The maps are terrible too small very little verticality, so no real use to the exosuits. Instead of building a game around the exosuits they built a standard call of duty game and threw them in thinking it would work. There is a good reason Titanfall's maps are big and its not just because they have huge robots fighting in them. But all of these issues become somewhat minor when the hit detection in the game is broken, very broken. Its next gen consoles and still Activision will not fork out the money for dedicated servers, peer to peer is **** will they get the memo? Unlikely. The hit reg does not work you will die with no visual recognition of it, you just fall over; you will be constantly killed through sight lines that are blocked with obstacles or shoot first only for the game to disregard your bullets in favour of your opponents. The whole thing feels like pure luck instead of skill.

The question must be asked is, is it worth your money? With all of the above you can guess absolutely not, maybe if it is was £20, but at its current price definitely not.

I've never experienced a game, where the developers main focus is to allow players to use "cheats" that would get you banned in other games. Those being:

I can see through walls with my gun sight (wall hack). I can shoot through walls (another wall hack). Another gun site lights up all players in front of you in bright red (Skinning Hack). Another gun will track onto lit up targets (Aimbot). Now if that isn't enough to make you an uber player... let's bring in the toys..... shall we? We now have "Homing Grenades" yes, the hand grenades can be tossed in the general direction of the enemy and they will home in onto them, no defense. You have hand grenades that light up every player camping in a building. So I pull out my no skill, shoot through a wall gun, and casually kill everyone. - Homing drones. Yes, boys and girls, you can take this paper airplane looking thing... toss it into the air without a care in the world, and it will fly over the battlefield and when it sees someone, homes in on them. Now, we have drones, that allow everyone to see everyone on the battlefield. A player tosses one of these no brainers into the air, and other players on the team, can join in on the fun, and rain hell down on everybody. And since it sees everyone on the field. You can kill everyone pretty easy. Lightning strikes obliterate anyone in it's path. Cover or no cover. If it flys over, you're dead.

Oh the nifty new dodge feature/gimmick. It allows you to glitch your movement. It's not fluid, and it looks stupid, because the animation is stuck while you do it. And it lights you up on the minimap instantly when you bolt a few feet in a direction. Then you're dead because since the maps are so small, everyone can shoot everyone as long as you can see them. Since everyone can pretty much see everyone, what's the point? You may as well avoid all that, remove the buildings. Put everyone on a flat surface and give them all uzi's.

Sound is horrid. Simply horrid. My surround sound headphones that are normally filled battle sounds and positional sound mapping, is confusing, because sounds just go in and out at random. Very quiet battles. Nobody yelling, nobody saying anything.

Oh a shotgun can be silenced. Shoots like a full automatic rifle, and sounds like a small handgun. The positional 3D should be disabled, because where the footsteps seem to be coming from one direction, they are actually someplace else, because the sound processing is so weak, it's confusing. Turn off your surround sound gear because it makes things worse.

Graphics.... ON a high end graphics card, it is pretty bad. No shading, I don't see any benefit for having shadows on, because you really can't see them, but they do appear to have a negative impact on performance,.... shut them off, because they aren't needed and will make things worse.

Maps are tiny. Tiny tiny. If you play Battlefield, Imagine taking a server of 24 people. Cram them all between A and B objectives on Metro. You get the idea. That's what ALL the maps are like. A smaller, crammed full small Rush Metro map. That's their "Conquest" size map. I get claustrophobic just loading into the map. If you want a quality, fast shooter, that requires some skill... Go play Titanfall. It's much more of everything COD:AW wants to be and more.

I wasn't a COD hateboy before buying this, but I am now. This is a joke. If you like it...good for you, but you must be seriously, easily amused or on a console. This is not PC gaming material. It's nearly an insult.

I was hoping that this Call of Duty will be the one to allow me to have fun with the series again and really invest my time into it with little frustrations, rage and **** Well guess what; this game seriously blows! (In other words, it sucks!) Why does it suck? I'll go over that in a little while. I'm going to break down the game into two sections: The single player campaign, and the multiplayer.

    Campaign:
This Call of Duty's campaign was pretty decent. Sure, it's another one of them linear Michael Bay campaigns but this time, it has Keven Spacy. The graphics during the campaign (On next gen consoles anyway) are really well done. There's more color than Ghosts and it looks really nice and most environments have "life" in them, which is a breath of fresh air. The story was pretty interesting, but still nowhere near as good as the story from the Modern Warfare games. It was still a fun ride none the less and I wouldn't mind playing through it again sometime in the future. The music during the campaign is forgettable and there aren't really any songs that stick out to me, which is sad. Granted, no Call of Duty is known for their soundtracks. Speaking of sound, the guns sound very week and most of them sound like popping popcorn or marshmallows. I've heard better gun sounds from Super Smash Brothers on the N64 than I've heard from this game. Overall, campaign is good, but not great. 6/10 for campaign.

    Multiplayer:
Multiplayer, for me, is the meat and potatoes of any Call of Duty game as of Modern Warfare. Multiplayer is what drives me to come back to the game after beating the campaign to have some fun and kill some time. Sledgehammer promised a lot of things going into this game's multiplayer including the ever elusive, dedicated servers. Unfortunately, this is where the game falls flat on its face! There are no dedicated servers as far as I'm aware and the lag in this game's multiplayer makes the game nearly unplayable! What's worse is that there is Skill Based Matchmaking in the game's multiplayer! On paper, SBMM isn't a bad idea, but the way the developers over at Sledgehammer implemented it into this game's multiplayer was very badly executed! The main problem is that SBMM takes priority over connection when trying to find a multiplayer match! Nine times out of ten, I will be paired up against Mexicans, French people, and some from Spain and Japan to boot! I live in the United States and I should be matched up against people from the US! Now that we have a bad netcode, SBMM, and lack of players for this installment, people have resorted to manipulating the system to get into better lobbies by Reverse Boosting to lower their stats. I'm ok with this because it doesn't affect me. Hell, I've done it myself and I too, have experienced better connection games. The problem with this is that it's frowned upon the community and it'll get you banned. The other problem with SBMM is that people who want to play the game casually can't because everyone is using the most "Try hard" classes possible and they are forced to do the same! That's another thing I find wrong here is the weapon balance. The weapon balance is some of the worse I've ever seen. During the beginning month of Advanced Warfare, everybody and their grandmother was using the BAL-27 assault rifle. Assault rifles dominated this game's multiplayer because all other weapon classes were pea shooters. Sledgehammer did eventually rebalanced some of the weapons, but now everyone uses either the BAL-27 assault rifle or the ASM1sub machine gun. I hear that Sledgehammer will rebalance a lot more weapons within an upcoming patch, but I'm not holding my breath. One more thing I hate is that most score streaks are useless! They hardly get any kills and aren't satisfying to use!

Now that I've gotten the bad things out of my system, it's time to talk about some good things, but they are far and in between. First thing I like, customizable score streaks. I like making my UAV be able to carry on through death and make it detect enemies through walls. It's a nice idea and it was implemented well for the most part. Second, the Supply Drops. Good idea. I like earning weapon variants that can sometimes redeem a bad weapon. If the variant sucks, I can redeem it for XP which is nice. Another thing I like is the virtual firing range. It allows you to try out guns before actually using them in multiplayer matches.

    Multiplayer score wise: 2/10

Overall, this game is the second worst Call of Duty since Call of Duty Ghosts! The campaign is good but it isn't enough to redeem its bad multiplayer! The game had a lot of promises but utterly fall short for what could've been the best Call of Duty ever made.

That'll do it for this review. If you read through the entire review, thank you for taking the time to read it! Bye for now

Playing this online can never come close to the cod4 or black ops 1. This game went outside of the elemental building blocks of realism meets power, like Battlefield 2142 did. Another thing all the guns were so far fetched none of witch were even remotely believable like Killzone 2 or 3 was able to accomplish. I had high hopes for AW and Sledgehammer,I was extremely let down. The Exo suits absolutely ruin this Call of Duty. Now let me explain. This is COD, not Halo, not Titanfall. I almost traded this game in within 2 weeks of buying it but I wanted to give it an honest chance. Now here we are at the end of Feb and although I've become fully used to it I still find this to be an amazing letdown.

The good - Exo movement innovation, vast game types to accommodate what the multiplayer gamers want

The bad - Exo suits as a standard, killstreaks (the worst of any COD), game sound effects (gun shots, reloads, grenades), spawns (4 months in and still awful), game lobby (can't even see other people's stats)

In summary, AW is like a game that comes out after COD. It might be a decent game for your rotation but after 2 months you go back to playing COD exclusively. I'll be going back to Ghosts and BO2 until Treyarch hopefully saves the COD Series this November.

The game is also now a mix between Crysis, Halo, Battlefield (animations of the guns) and some weird futuristic game. I know I was complaining about they copy + paste (but that is the lack of tactics and increase of campers that now have tactics for camping). The game would be better if it wasn't about the future and ZOMBIES WITH EXO SUITS??? How would they know how to operate an exo suit unless they were MUTANTS? I guess you could say S.S.D.D. The Positive reviews on those far outweigh the Negatives by almost 10 to 1 on those titles. In Advanced Warfare, we now have a ratio of almost 1 to 1, and I'm a little suspicious how these numbers don't match the "Most Helpful" comments numbers. I feel like the true score seems to be 2-3 haters for every 1 "over the top", positive review. Do you think in those few years people have gotten that more nasty just for the sake of it? I think not.

This game has not changed since Modern Warfare 2, and none of these reviewers including myself are stupid enough to not realize this. The game engine has NOT changed much at all since then. This is because the genius coders behind the original making of this unbelievable franchise have ALL left working on Call of Duty. COD has been a "Mod" ever since MW2 is the fact of the matter.

Advanced Warfare has nothing special besides some latest outsourced facial scans and swarms of objects that have already been overdone. The Multiplayer is by far the most disappointing, with almost no noticeable positive difference. What we have instead is taking the skill away from playing of the game. This "exo-ability" is the equivalent of an age old issue of "bunny hoping", but now the game is as kill-less pray and spray with people hoping around out of control. "Bunny hoping" on steroids if you will.

Only because Sledgehammer games has an actual well-organized team do I give this a 2/10. Looking forward to Treyarch's game which we can count on being much better due to their experience with this franchise. I just hope it's not too late for Call of Duty by then...

After taking a break from Call Of Duty after Black Ops.. yes quite a few games ago.. I decided to give COD another go. Oh boy

I'm honestly confused as to how major review outlets look at this game, play it, and then give it 8 and above. It's sad really. What they are doing is supporting re-packaging and ignorance.

COD was designed to be a drug (just like Destiny). Get to the next fix. Doesn't matter that it's the same thing every time. It's only about the high. There is always a new unlock, a new killstreak, yada yada to try and fuel this mundane affair.
Meanwhile, beaming jingoism into your eye sockets and filling your ears with explosions and the cussing of prepubescent children (even though they are sadly mostly adults), the game is yet again, another rehash, reskin, re-re-er, etc. Reminder: this analysis is coming from someone who hasn't played COD since 2010.

Everything about the game feels extremely dated (no, adding an ability to jump Halo style or skid sideways does not make it different). The graphics, in all honesty, are some of the worst I've seen in 2014. They are just bland with washy textures and are life-less. To give you an idea, while you are watching an in-game POV cutscene, there is motion blur and depth of field (those add a realistic texture / fillmick look), but the second the game gives you control, the motion blur and DOF are gone. Interesting design choice......

As I noted before, the ability to jump around doesn't really make the game any different. Actually, the only noticeable gameplay difference I noticed from the added feature was.. people can now camp on roofs. It's weirdly transformed the game from a fast paced shooter to a slow camping nightmare. If the maps were bigger and the people online 'more intelligent' then maybe that could be interesting, but it's not.

Campaign wise - there's almost no reason to talk about it honestly. Like all COD campaigns, the stories are like an overly long Michael Bay 'Pearl Harbors' (wait that was long) that you just want to get through for the achievements. In fact, the games even more linear than I remember.. and Black Ops was linear.

I received this game as a gift so.. price wise I can't complain. If you have $60.. do not... do not.. spend it here. If you do spend it.. enjoy the pop ups in the game trying to get you to spend another $50 on the DLC. Yes, everyday the game will pop up asking you to buy the DLC.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The campaign was kinda boring, and didn't really do Kevin Spacey and justice, how do even manage to waste Kevin goddamn Spacey? For the Multiplayer, the maps are far too small to support the new movements, and these new abilities, albeit innovative (For CoD atleast) they're more fluent than Destiny's, but no were near Titanfalls level of fluency, you move like a hot knife through butter in Titanfall. The Exo Abilities are kinda worthless IMO, 5 seconds a life? Or 10 with Overcharged is nothing, especially seeming you need to stay alive for a long time to get Scorestreaks (Which I'm happy they brought back.) Now, on to the Scorestreaks, they're way to hard to get for the casuals, I know playing the OBJ is a lot more rewarding but in some game modes, the score per kill needs to be increase, and the streaks are even harder to get when you customise them. The scorestreaks themselves are worthless seeming you need all that score to get them, I understand that infantry based combat to exercise the new movement was what they were going for, but they simply arn't worth the effort. Most grenades are worthless with the new movement system, even with Danger Close, this itself, makes Flak jacket worthless, also getting perks like 'Low Profile, Cold-Blooded, and Blind Eye' almost instantly those worthless streaks are made even worse, and some perks such as, 'Peripherals' is practically useless against a lot of other perks/new perk ideas that could have been put in Peripherals place. Going back to the maps, they don't seem to be created with the Exo Suits in mind, as some roof tops are accessible and you can see into the enemy spawn, and some roofs seem accessible, but are not. As for the spawns, my God they're terrible you seem to kill 4 people and they just spawn next to you, it's like playing Spec Ops where waves of enemies just fling themselves at you. As for gun Bal(27)ance the Bal just seems to over power everything, and it's unlocked from the go, all other weapons apart from Assault Rifles seems useless and are underpowered, Shotguns wouldn't even be reasonably good if the Exo abilities weren't in the game. The connections in this game seem to be sh*t, 1-3 Bars all round, 'Dedicated Serves like Ghosts' or what they mean is a worthless hybrid server, and people are just teleporting everywhere in game. Meh, they tried to be innovative, and it kinda worked, but they failed on so many other levels that the game is just frustrating for me. Expand

The guns don't feel well balanced, assault rifles are by far superior to all the other weapons, with high damage outputs and laser accuracy. Not sure if the multiplayer is uses hosts or servers, but I constantly find myself with a 1 bar connection, meaning I always seem to shoot last. Also find the teams stacked, on my side or the other, I either do well and get a decent score or shockingly and go negative 10.
I don't get what people are saying in their reviews when they say that 'this is the best looking shooter'. It runs at 60fps, yes, but didn't all the CoDs with their simple style? Battlefield 4 looks far superior to this, which actually looks realistic. To me it's a smoother version of all the past CoD games. I'd happily see a Modern Warefare 2 Redux for the Xbox One, perhaps a Halo:MCC, but consisting of CoD 4, MW2 and MW3. I'd get to play my favourite CoD and Activision can make heaps of cash, we both win! Back to this game...
The genre is tired, laser guns are boring, Titanfall is for mech suits or whatever they're called. Bring it back to current-day tech, or the the past. Those games were fun and believable.
Overall unimpressed, all this has made me do is go blow the dust off my 360 and stick in MW2, which is by far, at least for me, the benchmark, with superior map design a noticeable distinction (What happened to map designs, not been a game I like the maps on since Halo: Reach and MW2). I'm unimpressed frankly, and await to see what rubbish comes out next year, labeled as good purely because of the brand. The only way you can tell if you like this is to play it, as reviewers are always rating Call of Duty games higher than they deserve, in my opinion. This game might deserve higher than my 3, but no way is it IGN's 9 either. Just because the name of the game is CoD doesn't mean it's going to be great.

Distinctly below average, in my humble, humble opinion.

Complete garbage! People camp and hide harder than before. To try and use anything other than a full auto rifle is a joke, there is no balance to the weapons or maps. Oh and zombies is broken up into DLC packs which would be no big deal if the pass wasn't $50! I returned my game already. YOU HAVE TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE!!

I took a break to play the multiplayer, which is the backbone and reason people continue to play this game and I find out ITS THE SAME ****ing Sh*t... and it just amazes me that this COD franchise can continue to make games with no difference... yea they have different game modes... but what do you do... shoot ppl... yea they have a co-op multiplayer... but you shoot AI people... yea they have a campaign, but you shoot people.... is this all they are going to bring into the next gen? better graphics but no creativity.... better movement but no originality? Am I wrong for expecting a company to be innovative?

The same people that tell you Destiny sucked because it's repetative, will be the same ones that tell you AW is the best game ever bc its repetative. (GAME CRITICS) they are corrupt and speak for the highest bidder. I am surprised to see user scores on the money with this one. I cannot give this game higher than a 2 because it's just like Black Ops 2 except you can juke and double jump.

Not to mention every time you sign into this game they ask you to buy the DLC.....Begging....
Thankfully I bought it used and I can get all my money back...

Same old same old! The usual Activision hype sucked me in and I bought the game (thankfully for only $14, thanks to a voucher). It follows the current cod trend which is dumb the game down for the masses. Graphics should be better on the now current gen console, gameplay is crap in that there's no strategy to the maps, just bounce around and shoot.

I get into gun fights every game where my bullets just don't register. Or I get two hits on someone and keep shooting and get turned on and die, in what felt like one shot. There is something wrong when the stats read this way....my previous k/d in other games:

    MW2 1.29 ( first fps game)
    BO1 2.26
    MW3 1.92
    BO2 2.61
    Ghosts 2.26
    AW 1.47

I know exo suits add a new skill dimension...but I am pretty good at exo dodging and moving out of someone's way to get around them and shoot or punch them and avoid a death. I've not had a k/d this low sine the first fps game i ever played. Something about that just doesn't seem right. And this holds true with most of my friends. My advice....if you're a good player in previous games (1.50 kd and above) then skip this game. It won't reward your efforts. If you're a new or struggling player in previous call of duty games (under a 1.50 kd)...then you will love this game. This game tries to level the playing field and allow bad players to get random kills they otherwise would never have gotten by spawning them behind an enemy player or awarding them a win in a gunfight they really lost. It's the ultimate level playing field.

The exosuits were a good idea, but they come out as a hit and miss. The campaign was alright, though that is mainly due to the good voice acting. The multiplayer is bad once again. It doesn't work as a public game nor as an eSports game. Boosts really hurt the gameplay especially in SnD. Latency and lag issues are worse than they were in Ghosts.

Call of Duty became so incredibly bad with AW it made Ghosts look good. Idk how you do that. AW is the most unbalanced, shot around a corner CoD I have ever played. Then came Treyarch to save the day! Or so we thought. Shortly after launch, as a usual CoD development procedure, the guns are re-balanced every month creating instability thus ruining the experience, not to mention lack of dedicated servers, causing lag spikes still to this day. Even Ghosts had dedicated servers and it sucked. We all hoped BO3 and even AW would save CoD, but it's just another cash grab by Activision who doesn't know what made a once great franchise so great. Sadly, we have to return to Ghosts to play Call of Duty, not Call of Jet-Pack-Lag-Fare 7. I never would have imagined the franchise would go that south to where I'd think that Ghosts was decent, but that's what it's come to. So until Ghosts 2, play Ghosts.

If you have no good luck your screwed because you cant get elite weapons, elite weapons is a modified version of the normal gun you unlock at the start. In the old call of duties I loved to put my sensitivity low since people wouldn't move as fast but now its really annoying how people are jumping left right and center I cant keep track, I have to put my sensitivity high but its so fast its annoying. Exo abilities and exo launchers the the most stupid idea ever made, tactical grenades and primary grenades share the same slot so now you can only equip one kind of grenade. With exo abilities sledgehammer added something called "exo mute device" which would replace the old perk dead silence so now your footsteps will only be silenced for a few seconds, also "exo cloak" you are literally invisible and cannot be seen at all which gets on your nerves since people run invisible with a shotgun shooting you from no where. Score streaks are very short and don't last long, most of them you have to control yourself like the warbird, paladin, Vulcan, Goliath, missile strike, aerial recon drone aerial assault drone, remote turret, I basically just named all the score streaks except for 4 of them. Usually I like staying on the ground finding people to kill while the chopper is in the air getting kills as well but you have to control the choppers now so there is a disadvantage for you. Most of the CoD community ruins the game by camping, running in pairs, trash talking, and just ruining the game mode like domination. In domination the objective is to capture flags and get the most points and still get kills but most people would just hold down 2 so the other team would not leave and you understand where the spawns are and the game last longer so you get more kills, about 40-50 kills each game. Now in CoD AW everyone just cares about holding all flags, you get at least 15-25 kills each game since everyone is so focused on holding every flag. Overall I think this game is horrible and the biggest mistake in the call of duty franchise next to cod ghost and I hope sledgehammer never makes a mistake like this again Expand

This gives me a great ability to judge this game at is full potential, and I must say there is almost no potential here. Now, let me explain, this Call of Duty like the last four, going all the back to the first Black Ops, starting off with some issues in terms of lag and what not. Something not to worry about at first, but now it has been out for a month and I have not seen a single change, nothing to correct it. Instead, I find myself, in more and more hacked matches, where literally the match starts and someone calls in a bombing run, and does it non-stop until the game crashes or everyone on the other team leaves. This also brings me to the second issue with this game, the lag, it is probably the worst I encountered of all the CoDs, no only does it have a time delay, if you are lucky, it also has the tendency to freeze mid game. Now, since then I have looked this up and found that it is all a result of the hosting, that being one person in the lobby is the host, and depending on how far you are, and their connection, you can either have a great game or a terrible one. In fact, If you are the host, unless you are sniped or shoot in the back, in one on one battles the host will general win, as what happens on their system is what the game takes into effect. This is only multiplied by the extremely small maps, and low health levels, literally meaning the host can kill you and do it again for the game gives you control of your character.

All in all to sum it up, this continues Call of Duty's long decline in terms of Multiplayer, now every once in awhile you will find a Gem like Black Ops, but this horrible designed ones in-between make it hardly worth the risk to pre-order let alone purchase the DLCs. So, with that all being said, I would say there is a small hope for CoD with Treyarch, but I would not pre-order it, instead I would rent it, check the reviews, etc. instead of pre-ordering it or buying it outright.

COD games on release are usually a laggy mess so I can't really mention the lag on it as it may have stabilised. The spawns will no doubt have been patched, or a patch is on it's way? But damn, killed 2 seconds after respawning time and time again on TDM.
Personally, I've never enjoyed jetpacks, double jumping etc on FPS games, so the EXO suit completely spoils the game for me personally. This is not welcome in any COD imo. Even on classic game modes where the EXO jumping is taken out, the maps are cack as they are mainly designed for use with the EXO suit.
The guns are awful, the SMGs pretty much feel the same, the ARs feel the same. All that changes is the fire rate between them, they all handle the same, or so it felt when I was playing it. They all carry approx 3 bullets per life, you have to have scavenger as a 'perk' to go on even a 5 kill streak. If you suppress your weapon as I do, then you may get a 3 kill streak.
The kill streaks are poo anyway, so I was happy getting UAV after UAV.
AVOID if you prefer Infinity Ward's offerings as I do.

Save your money if you want to buy this. Just go to Redbox and rent it and you will be done with it in a day and half (12 hours for the youngsters). You will recognize many backdrops from previous games, just new warriors here and there at the forefront. Nothing spectacular that got my blood pressure up like the old games. Roger that?

Barely anything about the series' design has changed, including the fact that it's still a linear single-player experience with a bunch of set-pieces, pre-coded quicktime events, dumb-as-rocks, unnatural AI, and one hell of an uninteresting and silly storyline. As for the multiplayer, there is STILL no access to certain optimization options such as Field-Of-View, and the visuals on current-gen consoles(PS3, X360) are not as 'beautiful' as they are on next-gen consoles, and do not deviate much from that of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Not to nag at this franchise's feet, but this is just the kind of dickery I'd come to expect after such an abomination as Call of Duty: Ghosts. Expand

Brief Review: Single Player Campaign is beautiful. Multiplayer is TERRIBLE!

I loved playing through the campaign. The graphics, the weapons, everything just felt done so right. The feeling of squeezing the trigger and watching the rounds fly into your enemy. The lighting as your unloading your clip in CQB. Its all wonderful. Until you play online. The graphics look PS3 capable. The lag is absolutely horrid and WHAT IS WITH EVERYONE HAVING PURPLE KNEE PADS WHEN YOUR KILLED! There are numerous multiplayer glitches that need to be fixed. What is unfortunate though is that even with those fixes, you can't take away that it just feels uber gimmicky and lackluster in the graphics department. There are times where I can't even respawn into a hardcore TDM battle that I have been absolutely owning. Sometimes the respond timer is there and sometimes it isn't. DAFUQ is that?! Long story short, Multiplayer is absolute crap. For a game with such a longstanding hold on the market and with such a playability factor, they ruined it. Why are most of the badass looking guns 3 round burst only? Who **** likes that **** No one. Where is my M4? ACR? or future versions of them? Also, why do all the guns sound the same? Its beyond awful. Back to COD Ghosts until next November. Infinity Ward knows their ****

The multiplayer maps need work, but otherwise this is the best Call of Duty game in years. [Jan 2015, p.66]

A welcome outsider take on a consistent series, increasing the pace still further in online multiplayer to fantastic effect. However, solo play feels a bit safe in comparison. [Christmas 2014, p.79]
