Aug 9, 2025After 26 years, Fatal Fury is finally back—and City of the Wolves hits! It makes a bold return with deep story content, solid offline/online modes, and ambitious mechanics. While I'm not a fan of how SNK implemented the Smart Style control scheme, and the online experience has some issues, this is undoubtedly SNK’s strongest modern fighter yet!

Apr 20, 2025The grand return of the Fatal Fury franchise, which had disappeared from the radar 26 years ago and for which NeoGeo fans had been desperately waiting, was made through the front door. This time, the game is not just for them, but also for the mainstream players, who will discover a game with a sophisticated yet accessible combat system. Even on a visual level, we're finally treated to a 3D SNK game that's obvious to look at. In short, it's perfect.

Apr 21, 2025Once again, SNK has consistently shown their improvement in audiovisual presentation while creating an amazing and engaging sequel that was highly anticipated for more than two decades.

Apr 20, 2025Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has a lot of potential, but it can feel like it puts effort into all the wrong places. Episodes of South Town just isn’t very fun because of its focus on stats, while Arcade Mode is a blast and has far better cinematics. The fighting systems have a great core, but feel needlessly complicated when you get into the weeds. Still, if you take the time to learn the game and its characters, it can feel great to play.

Apr 22, 2025After two and a half decades, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is a welcome return to SNK's ranks. Accessible enough for beginners, yet hard to master for fans, there's an even playing field for all. The narrative may be lost on some, but with enough characters to master it's a blast for the fighting game community.

Apr 21, 2025A comeback? Yes, we can say so. Fatal Fury: City of The Wolves is beautiful, fast-paced, and has a netcode that works perfectly for facing off against your friends or complete strangers online. There are certainly a few drawbacks, notably the choice of certain characters, Ronaldo in particular, and a story mode that is unfortunately rather anecdotal, but we readily forgive the 26-year wait given the quality of this production, which marks a spectacular return for this essential saga of the fighting game genre.

Apr 21, 2025Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves struggles not only to understand what it wants to be, but which audience it wants to be for. While the game can be a sweat-inducing treat at its highest level of play, casual gamers might not get a lot out of it and the bevy of distracting guest characters and stage song composers in the game make it hard to see the title for its own merits.
