As in part one, the core experience of A Plague Tale: Requiem consists of its atmospheric strengths, strongly attached to the game's pleasant heroes. Beside its magnificent presentation, including beautiful graphics and prime voice-over artist, the sequel does overall also a better job concerning gameplay, making Requiem the better game. But the extension of variety and freedom during regular stealth action stages or the clever puzzles can't hide the existence of the (few) lousy and misplaced defensive battle sequences.

If you liked Dead Rising then you will love Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. It’s still just as much fun to take out hordes of zombies using a stack of CDs, a giant parasol or various gardening tools. Compared to the original “Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster” is a much smoother and painless experience. This might be a problem for the people who already adore that game. For everybody else it makes it simply much more enjoyable. While the auto-save can be largely ignored if you want, there is no way around having a much easier time while taking calls from Otis or using guns. Being able to save and skip time in the bonus mode on the other is probably something that everybody will be happy about.

What The Callisto Protocol lacks in truly original ideas it more makes up for in presentation and atmosphere. A game this polished and confident from a newly formed studio that had to work through a pandemic is nothing short of impressive. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is an excellent J-RPG in the Monster Hunter universe. Mass Effect Legendary Edition might not be a remaster like the brilliant PS4 version of Shadow of the Colossus. But the first part of the trilogy, in particular, benefits from the visual update, higher resolution, better textures, new effects and also from its improvements in gameplay and interface. Including the fact that the Mass Effect trilogy itself remains one of the richest RPG scenarios of all time, it's easy to recommend the Legendary Edition to fans and genre connoisseurs in general as well.

If somebody had an inkling to return to Destiny 2 then The Final Shape is the perfect opportunity to get back in there. Maybe too obtuse for newcomers it still offers smooth and fantastic feeling gameplay paired with a satisfying end to the first saga of Destiny. Judgment aims to show a different side of the “Yakuza” universe but falls short of innovating in really meaningful ways. The new detective elements are superficially fun, but quickly devolve into tediousness. The true strength lies with its story and characters and the lively world full of side quests and mini games. While Judgment is an impressive game both technically and mechanically, it falls short of really pushing the limits of the established Yakuza formula.

The announcement of an official modding tool alone is likely to bring tears of joy to the eyes of "Frostpunk" fans. The setting remains attractive, the artwork and gameplay are equally clever, even if the novelty value has worn off a bit. But everything is now bigger, more complex and more impressive, and it is remarkable how smoothly 11 bit has interlocked the various elements and made them shine. There is always something to do in "Frostpunk 2", even if the feeling of a living game world, as one is used to from "Anno 1800", is missing here simply because of the thematic requirements. The twist-filled story also serves its purpose, although Vanillaware often follows familiar narrative paths here.

Naruto X Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections is undoubtedly the most complete and extensive game of the worldwide popular anime hit to date. Although there are no major innovations, fans and, of course, all those who want to become fans can pick it up without hesitation thanks to the large roster, two story campaigns and beginner-friendly action gameplay.

Whether it’s the great scenario design packed with routes and opportunities, the well written story missions, the many funny surprises, the attractive presentation or the motivating reward system - Hitman 3 combines familiar strengths with some new ideas like the shortcut system and the sadly PlayStation exclusive VR mode. Still, Hitman 3 is not free from criticism. This mainly concerns AI quirks, smaller logical errors and missing PlayStation Move controls in VR.

Revenge of the Savage Planet turns out to be a consistent improvement of the first instalment, picking up exactly where it lacked, especially in terms of scope and accessibility. The five planets themselves are wonderfully varied and boast a high level of verticality. Added to that is a nice range of unlockable gadgets that provide previously unimagined mobility. What remains is a genuinely feel-good Metroidvania with a fast-paced story, plenty of variety, nice graphics, cool ideas, a strong soundtrack, plenty of humour, few flaws and a very flexible co-op mode that's compelling both online and offline. Bravo Racoon Logic!

FIFA 21 for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S is definitely best and most beautiful version of this years FIFA-outing. It gives a glimpse on things, that can become a big thing in the next couple of years, but also fails to make changes on certain lackluster gameplay-features of the game.

If you haven't played the Tomb Raider reboot yet, you now have one less excuse. Even though it is well over a decade old at this point, the mixture of puzzles, action and exploration holds up well and is still absolutely worth playing today.

Monolith Soft stays true to the series at its core, but simultaneously puts in more depth. Especially concerning the combat system Xenoblade Chronicles 3 feels trusted to series' lovers, but with all the new mechanics it also takes along players, who did not get warm with the fights. It's not enough for being a masterpiece, but for the best part of the series so far.

Tunic is one of those games that won’t let you go until you see the credits rolling. It’s insane, what Andrew Shouldice and his small team came up with and how much lifeblood was poured into this action adventure. Definitely an indie title you should not miss.

Dying Light 2 might not be the ultimate high-rider that early impressions promised. But more important than that, Techland delivers a sequel that's far better in mostly any aspect. It's technically strong on next-gen, provides a great fluid free running system, a powerful combat system, and combines it with a highly varied and vast open world. Even the story with all its world-changing decisions outperforms the predecessor clearly.

It's clear that Obsidian thoroughly considered community feedback during development. The result is a motivating sci-fi adventure that takes the core strengths of its predecessor and improves on it in almost every respect. The scope has practically doubled, the combat gameplay feels significantly more engaging, the mission options are even more varied, and the presentation is clearly superior to that of the first game. It's a shame, however, that the resources – despite support from publisher Xbox Game Studios – weren't sufficient for romantic relationships and German voice acting this time around. The developers also need to improve the stealth gameplay, which didn't feel as immersive as hoped in the test version.

Even 13 years later, Sonic Generations is still one thing above all else: pure and, most importantly, lightning-fast platforming fun! The great levels are packed with little details, the graphics and soundtrack are beautiful and Shadow's appearance makes the experience even better. Despite some minor flaws, this game is absolutely worthy of SEGA's video game legend.

As expected, Dead Island 2 is not a game that extensively scores with complex gameplay in a regular sense. You mostly kill zombies, but in a never seen before marked brutal and detailed diversive manner. And the last is the core of a great first person zombie action game and the reason why you need to play it, regardless if you prefer playing it solo or in online co-op mode.

Combined with the splendid level editor and the optional VR mode that grants an even better overview of each level, Humanity is a true puzzle hit that no genre fan should miss.

Fortunately, multitasking gameplay in Pragmata doesn't really mean you have to do everything at once. It's enough to constantly shift your focus between shooting, dye dodging, and hacking. And that's fun! Even better than the combat and the spectacular graphics are the story and atmosphere, which, despite the other strengths, are the absolute highlight.

Split Fiction is a brilliant co-op experience on the Switch 2 - whether you're playing on a TV, in handheld mode, or online via cross-play. And thanks to Game Share local, wireless co-op play can be realised with just one full version of the game. However, it's disappointing that Hazelight and EA weren't able to fit the entire game onto a Switch 2 cartridge, and even the physical edition ultimately only contains a download code. It also loses points for some missing basic accessibility options, such as the ability to adjust the font size of dialogue texts.

Not every single game mode might be more than a nice bonus. But especially with the Jamboree Buddies system and some other creative inventions the core board game mode benefits a lot. In addition with the fully new co-op mode Bowser Kaboom Squad and the competitive Koopathlon mode for 20 players Super Mario Party Jamboree is just one of the best entries to the Mario Party series, maybe the best so far.

Voodoo Detective is a love letter to the adventure games of the late 80s and early 90s, especially the Monkey Island franchise. Of course it shines with great voice acting as well as HD graphics, but at the same time the presentation, dialogues and puzzles themselves still feel like a wonderful throwback to that golden age of adventure gaming. If you have any interest in the genre, you simply cannot miss Voodoo Detective.

If you look at Fitness Boxing 3 as a regular game, it is too less demanding especially concerning precision. But the game wants to be an interactive fitness coach and does pretty well as this. If you want to beat your inner demon for making sports, Fitness Boxing is a great and highly motivating choice for Switch owners. [Good]
