Focusing on magic instead of guns serves Immortals of Aveum well. The first-person-shooter deliver gorgeous looking combat that gives players tons of options to decimate their enemies. Unfortunately, the world-building and the story lack depth an rely heavily on fantasy-cliches.- GAMES.CH

If you like the current and famous guard of voice actors then Dead Take is basically a must. Both Newbon and Starr are stellar. None of the other actors have to hide behind those two though and it is a joy to see people like Jane Perry, CDawg or Alanah Pearce bringing full performances to the screen. The puzzles in the game are logical and fit well with the whole theme of the game but aren’t outstanding or new in any shape. The game is very linear and the mechanic of splicing two unrelated videos together is conceptually cool but rather boring to actually do.- GAMES.CH

Assassin’s Creed Nexus introduces a groundbreaking Virtual Reality (VR) experience to the iconic gaming franchise. The game maintains the essence of the series by integrating familiar characters and the Animus simulation. The innovative VR mechanics offer an immersive blend of climbing, running, and combat, providing players with a unique and entertaining adventure. While calibration issues and occasional glitches may pose challenges, the game’s successful combination of realistic movements and engaging gameplay ultimately makes it a compelling addition to the Assassin’s Creed legacy.- GAMES.CH

Exoprimal is just a few unfortunate missteps short of being a hidden gem. The base gameplay that mixes hoard-based PvE and high-stakes PvP is unique and interesting. Even the absurd story about dimension-hopping AI dye and mechanized soldiers fighting dinosaurs had us intrigued. However, the variety of gameplay on offer simply does not justify the price tag and is especially disappointing in regards to the rampant monetization through battle-pass and premium skins. On Gamepass, however, this is a must-try for sure.- GAMES.CH

The 16:9 format in anniversary mode provides a much better overview when playing, the performance is great, unlimited lives in anniversary mode prevent frustration for newcomers and the numerous extras such as the 60 challenge missions, the new intro and outro cutscenes, the mirror mode that can be unlocked and the museum mode fit in well. Sadly Tails' AI isn’t very reliable, a few features known from fan-remakes are missing (like a save-state function) and the two DLC packages leave a stale aftertaste. What remains is a not error-free, but nevertheless entertaining collection of Sonic hits.- GAMES.CH

Toxic Commando is a fun cooperative zombie shooter that shines when played with friends. Its large maps, brutal zombie hordes and flexible class system provide plenty of chaotic action, even if the pacing occasionally suffers from the open level design. Vehicles and progression add variety, but sometimes slow the flow of combat. While it doesn’t quite reach the heights of genre classics like Left 4 Dead, it’s still an entertaining co-op experience for players looking for their next zombie-slaying session.- GAMES.CH

While Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered is absolutely a product of it’s time it mostly doesn’t feel like it in the parts where it counts. The gameplay is fluid and varied. The story itself is mostly cliche but the dialogue and its treatment of women is very outdated and sometimes even gross. On the other hand the dialogue between Garcia and Johnson is raunchy and crude but still gives me a good amount of chuckles.- GAMES.CH

The Lamplighter’s League may look like a chance to play out your own pulp adventure fantasy, but it turns out to be an intricate combat puzzle full of synergies and silly combos. While performance can be a bit of an issue and the story fails to leave much of an impact, the core gameplay is fun enough to keep this title memorable. It won’t deliver the instant mainstream appeal something like X-COM will have, but passionate fans of turn-based tactics shouldn’t miss this hidden (albeit slightly unpolished) gem.- GAMES.CH

SD Gundam Battle Alliance is a nostalgic treat not just for fans of the over 40 years of Gundam history, but also for fans of Action RPGs. Ditching many modern sensibilities, such as complex game systems, deep customizability or even a coherent, emotional story, SD Gundam Battle Alliance can feel like a relic lost in time. The easy to learn and hard to master combat system that’s largely learned by bashing your head against an increasingly unfair difficulty curve is incredibly satisfying to learn. In time we combo together ranged and melee attacks, juggling our opponents with ease only to get completely crushed by the next boss until we find the right combination of skills, upgrades and gundam to best even the hardest foe. While not without its flaws, SD Gundam Battle Alliance is a celebration of a storied franchise and its particular style of gameplay, executed with style and charm.- GAMES.CH

Tin Hearts is a wonderful little game of guiding toy soldiers through the remnants and memories of a toy workshop. Your view of Sniper Elite 5 highly depends on what you expect of a good sequel. It delivers the same semi-open-world stealth shooting that its predecessor did so well. However it fails to add anything significant to the formula aside from a graphical update. In certain areas it even feels leaner than the 2017 Sniper Elite 4. It’s still an enjoyable experience and certain additions like the new invasion mode that combines PvP and PvE do offer new takes on the formula. While the story campaign starts quite interesting, it quickly looses a lot of momentum due to lots of boring standard quests, way too many battles which aren’t challenging at all and a general lack of surprises. The Chant brings a few interesting ideas into the modern Survival-Horror-Genre, but stumbles as much as it succeeds. The setting and story have their moments, but a lot of the characters feel too two-dimensional and predictable. Combat has some depth, especially with the introduction of roleplay elements, but ultimately the lack of diversity turns combat to a chore outside of a few especially well-made bossfights. The gods of the Greek pantheon are front and center in “Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island”. They feel like real characters and it is a joy to get to know them. Unfortunately the gameplay is a very shallow affair that consists mostly of finding an item on one side of the island that you have to deliver to a god on the other side of the island. At its core Killing Floor 3 is a fun and more than solid game. Mowing down hordes of Zeds alone or alongside strangers and friends just rocks. This is thanks to great looking gore and a decent variety of weapons and enemies. At the same time the feeling of the guns is not always great and a lot of them lack punch and power. The base between maps to upgrade your character and your guns feels superfluous. Both the look and the soundtrack are not bad by a mile but feel a tad generic and lack the style that make Killing Floor what it became known for. Gotham Knights should not be confused as a sequel to the excellent Batman: Arkham Knight. Instead this Spin-Off explores a new and interesting story about the death of Gotham’s protector and falls victim to some of modern gaming’s worst trends. The crafting system feels unsubstantial and while the four different playable characters are all different and interesting, it feels like substantial abilities of the prior games were taken away and locked behind different characters, rather than each member of the bat family bringing something new to the table. It's a game for fans, for nostalgics, for everyone who wishes their video games weren't always bigger, but simply better at what they want to do. When RoboCop lumbers through the halls, delivering one-liners and restoring order with his assault rifle and steel fist, it feels right. No other game currently captures the essence of the character so well on screen. And that's despite not even trying to be modern. "Unfinished Business" isn't perfect. But it's RoboCop. And sometimes that's completely enough.- GAMES.CH

Great gameplay meets limited content and a high price tag. Racket Fury feels like an appetizer in a Michelin-starred restaurant, except that the main course is not yet in sight.- GAMES.CH

Even with new tutorials MotoGP 22 does not really manage to reduce the hurdle for newcomers. But if you are content to keep trying, the gaming fun will constantly increase. The amount of content and game moves is great, but not just because of that, MotoGP remains the best two-wheeler racing simulation you can get.- GAMES.CH

While Rogue Trader is a brilliant roleplaying game with incredible depth both in player expression and a gripping world, the Switch 2 version is unfortunately inferior to all other plattforms due to the restrictions of the console’s hardware and poor optimisation. This either needs steep discounts, numerous patches or both.- GAMES.CH

Dune: Awakening has everything a survival game fan would love & like: crafting, building, fighting. But this is also the downside of the game, for being to well known to genre fans. Still a nice choice for survival enthusiast as well as everyone that's interested in the world of Dune.- GAMES.CH

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition delivers a very nostalgic challenge. If you have the option to play against other players in local multiplayer with up to eight participants, you can have many hours of fun. If you're close to pro level, that's additionally the case in the two asynchronous challenge modes Survival and World Championship. But if you play solo (not being a pro) after maybe five hours you've seen anything the game has to offer.- GAMES.CH

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is a nice prequel that mixes storybook with elements of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and suggestively parallels the Metroidvania genre, including a high focus on combat, by being much more linear than this. But there are many things providing the game to be a must-have. The main reason for that is the low aspiration for being at least half-way tough, especially in terms of fighting.- GAMES.CH

Henry Halfhead is a short but very relatable adventure about what we call our lives. It’s not very long, the gameplay is mostly very basic and you can never really fail. What sounds negative is mostly positive though. The story is short, sweet and offers enough room for everyone to take away from it whatever you want and feel. The simplistic gameplay offers room for play and curiosity. I was able to relate to a lot of what Henry goes through, even if that is sometimes a bit too on the nose and by the end of it he made me think about my own life as an adventure even more.- GAMES.CH

If you are looking for a Pokémon game without combat but with atmospheric staged mystery cases and a humorously presentation, Detective Pikachu Returns could be exactly your cup of tea. Well, if it's not a problem for you, that the gameplay is mostly totally unchallenging.- GAMES.CH

Two Point Campus: School Spirits is a fun little addon to the main game. Playstyle, music, humor remains all the same and is still awesome. Sadly there is only one new campus and a new challenge to play, so after a few hours you are already done. Cool for fans of the series, not a must-buy for everyone else.- GAMES.CH

Sacred 2 Remastered successfully revives a beloved German action RPG with improved visuals, smoother controls, and modern quality-of-life features. While the gameplay and story remain unchanged, the updated interface and full controller support make returning to Ancaria more enjoyable than ever. It’s a nostalgic trip best suited for fans of classic hack-and-slash adventures rather than those seeking a modern reinvention.- GAMES.CH

Nine Noir Lives is a nearly purrfect point and click adventure from Silvernode Games. You play the cat-detective Cuddles Nutterbutter and his assistant Tabby Marshmalleow to investigate murder. Dark and fun at the same time, a bit messy here and then but overall, if you have a lot of time to resolve all the riddles, a great game.- GAMES.CH

Gothic 2 Complete Classic finally brings a great action RPG on Switch. You can see that the original is from 2002/2003, but beside the aged technology even the presentation is still an important contribute to an intensive atmosphere. The Switch port is a good chance for fans to experience this real classic again. Series newcomers should be aware of a relatively high difficulty level and a lack of modern comfort functions.- GAMES.CH

The Occultist is a relatively short, but very varied haunted castle ride through almost every horror cliché you can imagine. It enough earnest effort and atmosphere to make the journey worthwhile, even if neither the stealth nor the puzzles really live up to their potential.- GAMES.CH

Vampire: The Masquerade is an ambitious game from an indie development studio. The result is solid and it entertains well throughout its eight-hour runtime. First and foremost, the game world is superb. On the other hand the stealth sequences disappoint with rather fiddly controls. We sincerely hope that a patch will fix these issues.- GAMES.CH

Helldivers 2 is an excellent co-op shooter, that sadly doesn't really build on its predecessor and instead puts a lot of the original content on a live-service road map. While the core gameplay is among the best of the genre, corporate greed ironically has sunken its claws deep into Super-Earth and the premium battle pass hides some of the most fun weapons and powerful armour behind a paywall, with more to come in the future.- GAMES.CH

While Endless Dungeon can be a blast in cooperative Multiplayer, the game lacks anything truly new or outstanding for this very popular genre. The tactical mix of tower defense, strategic exploration and traditional twin-stick shooting can be entertaining, but for solo players there’s just too many better, more interesting choices to play out there. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes mainly delivers what the developers promised. It's a mostly very classical JRPG experience with beautiful graphics and great music. Once again, developer Spiders' game falls short of being a must-have RPG, primarily due to questionable game balance. If you loved „Where is waldo?” you probably gonna like Crime o’Clock as well, especially if you are a beginner in this genre. It has story, humor, some minigames, an helpful AI and some technology which keeps the frustrating part of clueless, hour-long search away. The game is fun for some hours but then it gets quite repetitive, so we recommend to not play it in one go.- GAMES.CH

Reach already stands out from most of its VR competitors by offering a full game's worth of content and variety. While the core loop of puzzling and climbing is solid and is sometimes almost too immersive for VR beginners, the combat feels lacking throughout and slows the otherwise enjoyable experience down considerably. All in all, "Reach" is an undoubtedly fun experience, but feels like it's not living up to the full potential.- GAMES.CH

Unfortunately, KoF XV is not the big revolution it could have been. The title feels more like a slightly polished version of its predecessor, albeit with somewhat less content and scope. A no-brainer for fans of the series (especially because of the rollback netcode). But those who are not enthusiasts of the franchise will probably be happier with another current representative of the genre.- GAMES.CH

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a nice open world action game. But beside the great and detailed graphics there is nothing worse or better than solid. That might be enough, if you love the movies, but it's not enough to make Ubisoft's Avatar game a need to buy for action fans in general.- GAMES.CH

Return to Monkey Island is no high flyer, but a good classical adventure game, far away from disappointment. Essentially it is fan service pure. That's a huge benefit for lovers of Guybrush's adventures, but series beginners don't really profit from the mass of allusions in any area. The great puzzle design or the top voice-over do not change anything about that.- GAMES.CH
