Banishers: Ghost of New Eden isn't a perfect game, but a great example, why games are much more than a sum of their single components. The dual character combat is fun and just one of the aspects, where Red and Antea form an inextricable unit. The world looks nice and is worth exploring. The heroes are pleasant and there is a lot of room for experimenting in the skill and perk system. What's partly absent is the moral dilemma within the decisions, which could have intensified this unique action journey.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a worthy successor to the classic first-person adventures of Samus Aran. The blend of shooter, puzzles, platforming, and exploration works well, although the core gameplay is somewhat linear. What most of the regular combat lacks in style, the superbly designed bosses more than make up for.

Anyone who has ignored or missed the campaigns of the last CoD parts should take a look here again with Black Ops 6 at the latest – it’s worth it! But also this year's Zombies mode is a real pulse accelerator and scores with two strong maps, sophisticated power-ups, a driving story, tons of Easter eggs and nice convenience functions such as the save feature for solo gamers. In multiplayer it’s back-to-the-roots, meaning rather compact maps meet tried-and-tested modes and little experimentation. The omnidirectional movement system works great here too and the content roadmap looks promising. Spawn balancing, on the other hand, requires further attention.

While one could argue that argue that playing Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition with a controller is needlessly complicated, that would entirely miss the point of a release on console. Consoles tend to draw a more casual-friendly audience that may not have played the original release. As such, this is a great way to make gaming history accessible to as many players as possible, giving them the chance to play however they want. Being over 20 years old, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition doesn't break new ground, but it's a masterful remake with a lot of small improvements and a deep care fort he source material.

With Asterigos: Curse of the Stars it can often feel like you’re doing one step forward and two steps back. The game has its moments of brilliance, both in gameplay and presentation, but often stumbles along the way. The combat feels satisfying, but the flexibility offered through the six different fighting styles is quickly limited through expensive upgrades and weapon-specific skill trees. Similarly while the game offers some cinematic and downright impressive views, especially during some of the bossfights, the vast majority of the Roman and Greek inspired city feels empty and repetitive, making exploration more of a chore than a highlight. Overall the lows and highs hold each other in balance, offering an enjoyable but mostly forgettable experience that, thanks to its solid combat, still counts among the better re-interpretations of the Dark Souls formula.

Humankind is a solid strategy game, which doesn’t change the underlying formula of building and management games. The visuals are pretty and the systems deep enough to sink some time into it. Where it shines is the possibilities to design your own culture, society and religion - with all the implications this has for diplomacy, trade and war. Subnautica: Below Zero is an excellent game, held back mostly by the inevitable comparison to its groundbreaking predecessor. This sequel doesn’t change much but deepens the focus on storytelling combined with above-water exploration. This is no doubt one of the best survival games I’ve ever played, which is why I would have loved to see more of it, more vehicles, an even more ambitious story with actual NPCs and a world that didn’t feel so familiar after playing the previous game. It’s very strict adherence to the classics of survival horror means you have a game that can easily frustrate, but also captivates with its struggle for survival like very few horror titles do these days. The story is cheese and the difficulty can feel arbitrary when we have to replay entire chapters of the game after dying to a hidden trap, just because the game refuses to include checkpoints. WWE 2K23 is another step forward fort he wrestling-franchise. 2K Games and Visual Concepts literally worked on every department and delivered a game that surpassed it already successful predecessor. Despite it's flaws, WWE 2K23 is great fun and the perfect game for the Road to Wrestlemania.

Wildfrost manages to be one of those "easy to learn, hard to master" type of games, as the core mechanics are simple enough, yet the game ramps up the difficulty substantially, so a lot of runs will take a bad turn quickly. It is a testament to the games gameplay loop that you always want to come back for one more round.

Dredge manages to pull the player in with its unexpectedly dark world and does not let go. It goes to show how far some good ideas can take a game that initially looks so basic and make it into something special.

Islands of Insight feels like the developers took the Korok challenges from the recent The Legend of Zelda titles and crossed them with The Witness. It’s a wonderful playground full of different kinds of puzzles, some deviously crafted into the environment itself. While there’s little story to latch on to and no real fail-state, the thrill of discovery has definitely kept us going far longer into the night than we thought possible. This review was tested before general multiplayer went live, therefore we can’t speak as to how well the MMO-like aspects blend into general gameplay.

The Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack unfortunately doesn't overhaul the graphics or improve any general gameplay aspects, but it does release the trilogy as a complete package. And this package includes fantastic new content such as all DLCs, updates, new playable characters, and our highlight: new episodes/content featuring various characters, each experiencing their own little adventures in the world of Ryza.

A new protagonist, a new environment, but the same engaging gameplay loop that players loved so much about the original game returns in this standalone expansion. If you have any interest at all in exploring and crafting, then Subnautica: Below Zero will absolutely scratch that itch.

Even in 2025, Hitman: Absolution's iPhone release is still a stealth game worth playing. The core loop of infiltrating and finding the best (or quirkiest) ways to eliminate your target are as fun as they were 13 years ago, when the game first came out. This assassin is worth carrying around in your pocket.

Atelier Sophie 2 picks up lovers of the genre and combines classic gameplay with a dynamic combat system that is very good for the game series. German subtitles should slowly become a must for the series in order to be really popular in German-speaking countries.

Dungeons of Dreadrock 2 doesn't change too much in terms of overall gameplay or presentation, but for the sequel to a game that could only really be criticized for being a tad short, that's not a bad thing. We thoroughly enjoyed our second trip through those tricky dungeons with all its new challenges and can easily recommend it for anybody interested in the puzzle genre.

Six years after the release of the original version for PS4 and PC, No Man's Sky has made the hyper leap into the switch dimension. The result is one of the best Switch ports and a masterstroke of programming. Sadly the multiplayer mode is missing in this version. If you can live with that, you’ll experience an excellent space exploration game set in a fascinating universe.

Great RPG skirmishes, depth of gameplay, ideas that still seem fresh and varied gameplay make Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven irresistible, and not just for retro fans. However, some elements such as a certain lifelessness of the game world and repetitive sequences are no longer really up to date. Whether you appreciate unique features such as the generation change or reject them outright is certainly a matter of taste.

In the aspects where it counts, Skate Story absolutely rules. It’s a joy to play once you get used to the controls, it oozes style, the vibes are tremendous and the soundtrack is out of this world. It suffers from the aforementioned control issues and its enormous weirdness might be a turn some people off but overall it’s just a genuine blast to play.

Just the fights are a little bit too chaotic for getting a strong feeling of control on the battlefields in sum.

This, in addition to the engaging story, the improved visuals and the fun game play loop make it a package that is still well-worth experiencing, even more than a quarter century after its original release.

As great as Marvel's Spider-Man 2 may be in terms of content and gameplay, Sony and Nixxes initially ruined the launch of the game on PC from a technical perspective. However, it's all the more pleasing that the developers are currently tackling the problems quickly and that several of them have already disappeared. If Nixxes' patching efforts continue at this pace, there is a good chance that the game will hopefully soon reach the level of quality that we also know from the PS5 version. Until then, our devaluation will remain.

If you look at Fitness Boxing 3 as a regular game, it is too less demanding especially concerning precision. But the game wants to be an interactive fitness coach and does pretty well as this. If you want to beat your inner demon for making sports, Fitness Boxing is a great and highly motivating choice for Switch owners. [Good]
