    Playing New Pokémon Snap filled me with a joy and excitement that I haven’t felt from a game in a while. Though it has its minor flaws, it really is an experience worth playing that offers gameplay you won’t find elsewhere.

    But by stripping the Pokémon of anything that feels organic, Nintendo has effectively made its critters feel like wind-up toys, removing the romanticism and mystique that should always come through witnessing raw, unbridled nature. They took these untamed lands and tamed them before we even got there. Unfortunately, the resultant game is as exciting as you’d imagine.

I thought it'd be poorly executed and badly designed, but I'll say that the game has improved on every aspect. The levels are repayable, you can take 4 unique shots of each pokemon, many of which require some puzzle solving to figure out. The "boss" system of the game is quite fun. No, not every pokemon is in it, but each pokemon is so well fleshed out that it makes the pokemon world come to life. I personally just beat the game, and I fully intent to finish all the extra content. There's a lot of nostalgia here, but I think the game is so improved that I might actually like this game better. Too many people are crying about "this or that" pokemon not being in it, but I have 25 hours into game and still am missing many pokemon.… Expand
