Wildfrost

Wildfrost is a brilliant little deck builder that manages to both frustrate and charm in equal measure. Its magnificently moreish yet maddening gameplay loop makes it a perfect fit for mobile, and its intuitive yet punishing mechanics offer heaps of replayability, making it well worth the premium entry fee.

I know Wildfrost will not be for everyone, and I’d have that caveat with my recommendation, but it is a “free to try" game on iOS, so there’s no real reason to not download it and give it a shot. I think it is more than worth its asking price on iOS, and it is immediately one of the best mobile releases of 2024 so far. While I am glad I finally played it, I’m annoyed I wasn’t obsessing over it last year when it debuted on Switch and Steam. I have rectified my mistake at least with this new port. Wildfrost manages to be one of those "easy to learn, hard to master" type of games, as the core mechanics are simple enough, yet the game ramps up the difficulty substantially, so a lot of runs will take a bad turn quickly. It is a testament to the games gameplay loop that you always want to come back for one more round.

Wildfrost is another ingenious deck-building roguelike that almost looks like a roguelike RPG with cards. Its visual style, the depth of the mechanics and the bosses make it a very entertaining game.
