Wildfrost takes the core ideas of the very popular card-driven genre and makes enough changes to add freshness to it. It does take some time to unlock all the town buildings and the three tribes that can provide leaders and cards. But once that happens, the game offers a wide range of tactical options and it’s fun to discover how various combinations will perform against the capable bosses. The game’s presentation also stands out, with a good level of detail and a strong connection to the theme. Wildfrost features some tough challenges but also offers a constant sense of progression. Playing a few runs every day is a great way to sharpen tactical thinking.

Small touches like these elevate Wildfrost into the upper tiers of the genre, even while its generally lighter range of content may steer potential buyers away. Once its best qualities come into view, though, that familiar roguelite deckbuilder addiction takes hold to reveal considerable potential, with dozens of encouraging RNG-fueled synergies, lucky accidents which breathe life into additional playthroughs. Wildfrost might seem a bit bare-bones, but each of its moving parts feels precision-engineered, making for an impressive entry into the genre for the studio and a great value for its asking price.

Wildfrost is a fantastic deck-builder with rogue-like mechanics. What's more, it has a melancholy story, incredible graphics, and stunning audio. On top of this, it is challenging, addictive, and grim. However, the tough action will put some of you off. Yet, I urge you to break through the learning curve as you battle to save humanity from the Wildfrost.

With a fantastic art style that immediately charms you, and engaging gameplay that will keep you coming back time and time again, we love Wildfrost. It’s a very welcome entry into the roguelike card battler genre, offering challenging but fulfilling combat that we can’t get enough of. If you’re a fan of games like Slay the Spire, we urge you to try Wildfrost. You won’t be disappointed.

Wildfrost has a visual simplicity that hides a depth of gameplay that deserves to be explored. All of its mechanics are carefully thought out to give us an engaging and refreshing experience.

Great roguelike card game, this Wildfrost. Of course it is not as cute and cuddly as it may seem at first glance, the art style is deceiving while the gameplay, with its inexorable countdown and perfectible balance, does not forgive the slightest mistake. It takes patience to give it a chance to fuel and a little stubbornness to get the best out of it, but it's definitely worth it.

I would recommend Wildfrost to anyone who enjoys deck-building battle games like it, but it’s probably not a great introduction for newer players to the genre.

Wildfrost is a delight in both its artistic style and its satisfying and involved moment-to-moment gameplay. The game demands some amount ofWildfrost is a delight in both its artistic style and its satisfying and involved moment-to-moment gameplay. The game demands some amount of learning via trial and error and asks you to carefully think through your moves, but once you get a feel for the game there is a lot of like: owing to its roguelike nature, every run is drastically different. Experimentation and creative thinking are rewarded, and playing the game is just overall a joy. If you have the patience to sit down and learn the ins and outs of wildrost, I trust that you'll really enjoy it. Expand

Great Deckbuilder, probably the best one i ever played. Very colorful and fun graphics. It's difficult and I'm incompetent.

Excellent card game! There are a lot of complaints about the difficulty but I think it's fair and actually makes the game even better

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There's a lot of potential here, but some poor balancing makes the game less fun than it could be.

The most blatant flaw is in how the final boss battle is balanced. Once you clear a run, your victorious team becomes the final boss of future runs. This is a neat mechanic, and could be a lot of fun if balanced correctly, but unfortunately it's not.

When your old team becomes the new final boss, every stat gets cranked up to absurd levels. If you clear a run with a sufficiently powerful team, you can get yourself stuck with a new final boss that you can never defeat.

As far as I can tell, there's no way to reset the final boss either without resetting all of your progress and unlockables.

Fortunately, the core of the game is solid. The most major flaws can be addressed with a balance patch, and I hope they release one soon.
