Wildfrost is attractive, but on the roguelite side, the difficulty is very high, with a lack of consistency in the cards where effective compositions are far too rare.

Despite the palpable chill in the air throughout, there's a cosy fire burning at the heart of Wildfrost. Gather round for a tough-but-rewarding deckbuilding adventure.

Wildfrost is an incredibly charming game that’s easy to like. It maintains that “one more go” mentality, despite its two main systems not connecting in an organic way. With some updates and tweaks, the experience could flow more naturally, but instead, it feels like two disconnected elements. Its devilish difficulty may be offputting for many, but if you can buy into its charm and take the time to understand the combat, Wildfrost can be an extremely rewarding experience.

I would recommend Wildfrost to anyone who enjoys deck-building battle games like it, but it’s probably not a great introduction for newer players to the genre.

  1. I deeply enjoy Wildfrost's bombastic builds, but I can’t help but feel that it’s trading in the promise of an exciting next run over making the current one more sustainable. Nevertheless, it’s still a genuinely fun game, with charming details and rewarding tactical combat, so I will, absolutely, be giving it more of my time.

Excellent card game! There are a lot of complaints about the difficulty but I think it's fair and actually makes the game even better

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. There's a lot of potential here, but some poor balancing makes the game less fun than it could be.

The most blatant flaw is in how the final boss battle is balanced. Once you clear a run, your victorious team becomes the final boss of future runs. This is a neat mechanic, and could be a lot of fun if balanced correctly, but unfortunately it's not.

When your old team becomes the new final boss, every stat gets cranked up to absurd levels. If you clear a run with a sufficiently powerful team, you can get yourself stuck with a new final boss that you can never defeat.

As far as I can tell, there's no way to reset the final boss either without resetting all of your progress and unlockables.

Fortunately, the core of the game is solid. The most major flaws can be addressed with a balance patch, and I hope they release one soon.

Great Deckbuilder, probably the best one i ever played. Very colorful and fun graphics. It's difficult and I'm incompetent.
