The Final Form is so good that I can almost say that many could stop playing Destiny 2 and relax. But at the same time, the game doesn't shy away from going out of its way to show you that there's also a lot more behind that big closure.

Destiny 2’s potential was clear from the first time I blasted my way through The Red War seven years ago, but Bungie never actually realized much of that potential until The Final Shape. This finale expansion’s story largely succeeds at delivering a satisfying ending, the raid is brutal and epic, the Prismatic subclasses breathe fresh life into combat, and the new enemy faction adds some much-needed variety to the things you’ll spend hours shooting in the face. None of that makes Destiny’s avalanche of confusing RPG systems, currencies, and storylines any easier to digest – but for the first time in a long while, I can wholeheartedly recommend pushing through that darkness, because there’s now a bright and beaming light at the end of the tunnel.

With a confident and satisfying campaign, a fascinatingly well-designed destination, and several standout endgame pursuits, Destiny 2: The Final Shape is an excellent offering for veteran and returning players of the FPS. Even with some classic endgame grinding repetitiveness, it's an incredibly well-executed expansion that nicely rounds off a decade-long journey, making it Destiny 2's best.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape is the best expansion that has been added to Destiny 2. The story arc truly draws to a close, but there is still much to get on with - exotic quests, new chapters and a whole new area to explore. They make The Final Shape a must play if you are a Destiny fan.

The Final Shape provides a fantastic conclusion to a nearly ten-year narrative. It does so with emotion but without neglecting the spectacular battles with imposing bosses and an exquisite level of action. It is packed with content and serves as the starting point for an intriguing new story arc.

If somebody had an inkling to return to Destiny 2 then The Final Shape is the perfect opportunity to get back in there. Maybe too obtuse for newcomers it still offers smooth and fantastic feeling gameplay paired with a satisfying end to the first saga of Destiny. It starts to feel a bit too long in the tooth but thanks to the amazing work of the artists in all the departments it doesn’t shine through too much. Even if one might not be interested in the upcoming ongoing seasonal content The Final Shape is still an absolute joy to play.

What should be championed here is Bungie being Bungie and them leaning into what made Destiny so special in the first place. Throughout the story beats of The Final Shape there’s a greater sense of community as we meet characters and journey along with them. These are NPCs we’ve been with for many years and we’re seeing them at their very best. I’m not ashamed to say I cheered at points, I got choked up several times, and a couple of moments had me grinning from ear to ear. Bungie has saved the best for last.
