As for your opponents, if you aren't particularly skilled, there’s no need to worry; for several festivals now, Horizon has allowed you to adjust the difficulty of rival Drivatars, making the game accessible to both newcomers and seasoned veterans of the genre. You can also toggle between automatic and manual shifting, tune your vehicle to suit the specific type of race... The options are nearly endless—it’s about more than just flooring the gas pedal. That said, you can certainly jump straight into a race without wasting time on tuning or tweaking anything beforehand; after all, this isn't a hardcore simulator. [Hands-On Impressions]

For quite some time now, whenever a new Forza Horizon title is announced, we can be almost entirely certain that we will be treated to a very solid racing experience—one that also allows us to explore some exotic region of the world. Playground Games understands its own formula to perfection, and—at least so far—it has managed to successfully evolve it with each successive release. This first look at Forza Horizon 6 demonstrates that this trend is set to continue; while this is great news on one hand, it leaves us longing for something new and distinct for the series on the other. Forza Horizon 6 is the exact sequel Horizon fans have been waiting for. A long time coming, the Japan location is definitely worth the wait. It’s stunning on the Series X in ways that are hard to describe, even if you are familiar with the country’s picturesque scenery. That, plus updates to core gameplay mechanics, like progression and even drifting, are making the wait for May even harder. [Hands-On Impressions]
  4. So far, it feels wonderful to be behind the wheel again in Forza Horizon 6. Japan is a setting that allows for so many gorgeous locations and a lot of creativity with its map full of things to do, and driving around is gratifying not only as a racing fan but as a Japan-lover in general. That said, this certainly isn’t a revolution in open-world racers. [Hands-On Impressions]

The self-driving addition to ANNA is an absolute blessing from the devs. The updated visuals continue to ensure Forza Horizon is the best-looking racing game around. While there is a lot of “more of the same” feeling with Forza Horizon 6, that’s not entirely a bad thing, especially with such an incredible environment that is Japan to race in. Regardless of those minor quibbles, everything I’ve seen and played in Forza Horizon 6 has been absolutely top notch. Japan is one of the best open worlds we’ve had in ages, and I spent a lot of time in this preview period just exploring and taking in the sights, from the long winding roads in beautiful mountain areas to the twists and turns of the fantastic streets of Tokyo. The latter is going to be something that many aging PGR fans are going to love. Everything oozes quality – the lighting, surface materials, sounds and the way the cars feel to drive are all superb, and loading times seem vastly improved too. It all combines to make Japan, a long requested locale for the Horizon Festival for many years – to have been absolutely worth the wait. [Hands-On Impressions]

But the heart wants what it wants, and it turns out that my heart wants a 1989 Nissan Silvia K's. Here is a slick urban delight, its body the colour of evening skies that announce the arrival of a summer storm. It's the car that I chose when the campaign started, and I quickly grew to love its air of 80s-tinged menace. It's fast while feeling as solid and consequential as a refrigerator falling from a third storey. You can turn pretty sweetly in it if you're trying a timing lap, but it still comes off like the kind of thing a mid-level businessman might once have used therapeutically to run over squirrels in the Mulholland Hills after a movie deal went south.
