Forza Horizon 6 is the series at its best, combining meaningful progression with the franchise's strongest open world yet. Japan is stunning and filled with interesting things, and it's an absolute joy to explore. The Wristband system makes progression feel rewarding again, and the approachable arcade racing remains as satisfying and compelling as ever. Overall, this is a fantastically fast, smooth as silk motor game experience that is packed with cars and content way above just one vs one races. It stays true to the tried and tested arcade Forza Horizon formula while expanding on the scale, beauty and replayability of previous titles with a huge array of unlocks and modes to enjoy both solo and multiplayer. A podium topping finish.

Technically, Forza Horizon 6 has not skipped a beat, and it runs like a titan. Aesthetically, it’s the best-looking and best-sounding game Playground has produced to date, set in the most wonderfully realised map it’s ever crafted – full of dense, authentic details and stunning driving roads. It’s rewarding to explore, the campaign is well-paced with a great payoff, and I simply cannot stop playing. I’ll always concede Forza Horizon 3 may forever be my favourite open-world racer, because who doesn’t love driving around their own backyard, but make no mistake: Forza Horizon 6 is unequivocally the best. The new standard in open-world racing is here, and it’s a gundamn masterpiece.

Cruising down Japan’s roads in Forza Horizon 6 is a visually unforgettable experience with superb handling. It may have played it safe and have a few technical glitches, but the sheer volume of content, the love for car culture, and the pure fun are more than guaranteed.

Simply put, Forza Horizon 6 is the racing game fans have waited years for. Out of all the gorgeous places this series has taken us, Japan was always a frequent request across social media, and now that wish has come true. On top of that, the gameplay is divine, and the content that the game has now, and perhaps what’s to come, might just keep us entertained until the arrival of the next entry and beyond, wherever that may take us. We may only be in April, but I’d be surprised if anything pips Forza Horizon 6 as the best racing game of 2026.

Forza Horizon 6 picks up where the previous installment left off and takes us to Japan in the best possible way. With Spanish voice acting, new radio stations, tons of activities to do, and plenty of cars, Playground once again focuses on what really matters: making driving fun. Whether you’re hitting over 350 km/h or cruising at a leisurely 75, driving through Japan is a true pleasure on every kind of terrain. Customization and design round out the experience with new housing options that join vehicle tuning and our avatar’s outfits and accessories to ensure we never have a moment to be bored in the new Horizon Festival. The technical aspects put the icing on the cake with 4K resolution and 60 FPS running smoothly in Performance Mode, and a Quality Mode that pushes realism to new heights with outstanding visuals.

Forza Horizon 6 delivers the best open-world racing experience in the franchise thanks to its stunning recreation of Japan, incredible visuals, and fantastic driving feel. It's an installment that aims to amaze from the very first mile, pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Playground Games' title offers virtually endless content, with gameplay progression that's still well-balanced. Like the franchise’s other many iterations, Forza Horizon 6 is an exceptional masterclass of car racing, genre-defining in terms of both arcade and simulation, set within a spectacular, abridged open-world of Japan that’s begging to be explored. Although it’s not an all-expenses paid return trip, the game not only bulges at the seams with its usual, familiar checklist of things to do, but it serves as a wonderful snapshot of Japan’s people, its sights, and its love for car culture.

Forza Horizon 6 does not reinvent Playground Games’ formula, but it may be one of its happiest and most refined expressions. Its Japan is a stunning, emotionally charged driving fantasy, balancing spectacle, exploration and quiet moments of beauty with a clearer progression and a slightly deeper driving model. Tokyo can feel a bit too clean and artificial at times, but the game remains huge, generous, accessible and constantly joyful.

Forza Horizon 6 is the win that Xbox desperately needed. Playground Games has clearly looked at the shortcomings of the previous entry — an uninteresting map, samey events, and a general feeling of the series spinning its wheels — and set about improving on almost all of them. Japan is wondrous to explore and race around, and new features like aftermarket cars help inject the series with newfound energy and heightened player expression. It’s not without faults, but it spells an end to the dark patch the racing series has been through over the last half-decade.

Forza Horizon 6 is the series at its most confident, most refined, and most fun. Everything that made the earlier games iconic is back, but with a slicker sheen and events that pop. If you love racing and want an open-world experience that’s equal parts heart and horsepower, Forza Horizon 6 is a no-brainer. It’s the top dog for a reason, and this chapter just cements it.

Forza Horizon 6 hits the road with the most densely packed open world racing game ever created, in the truly iconic setting of Japan. Events and challenges cleverly mix intense racing with charming stories to discover that tap into the culture and community of Japan in a way that makes this the most inviting Forza Horizon map ever pieced together, while also being the largest. Yes, it’s still Forza Horizon as we know and love it, but you can easily make an argument for “best racing game of all time” if you particularly enjoy the Land of the Rising Sun. Arigatou gozaimasu.

Forza Horizon 6 delivers a stunning open world set in Japan, with diverse biomes, touge battles, and authentic car culture. The Horizon series is about the friends you made along the way. It is undeniably more of the same, but the thoughtful social additions and inclusion of non-racing activities into the grander Horizon world makes Forza Horizon 6 feel considerably better. Most of all, anyone can play it. And everyone should.

Forza Horizon 6 is precisely what we had all been expecting ever since it was revealed, and that is not a bad thing at all. It’s simply impossible to ask that, with every new installment, a series this expensive to produce completely reinvents itself; however, throughout all my hours with the game, I couldn’t stop wondering how difficult it would have been to try changing the game’s structure or some aspects of the design behind its special events, because obviously there’s very little left to change on the core gameplay side within a semi-arcade racing game. Be that as it may, Playground Games’ work definitely has to be considered a victory for Xbox Game Studios, one they undoubtedly need in order to get back on the right track. Do we recommend it? Absolutely. You’re going to have a great time driving through the roads of this beautiful recreation of such a special country as Japan.

Forza Horizon 6 doesn't innovate anything in terms of driving and is still just as fun as its predecessors. However, Japan is a much better playground with a better career and activities, this time with the ability to build your own tracks, customize garages, deliver food and much more. It's beautiful, a joy to listen to and play. It's just a shame that new cars are being thrown at you again this time, and there's no sense of any merit. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if the sixth one becomes the most successful, most played and most enduring in the series.

As you'd expect, Forza Horizon 6 is the biggest and perhaps best entry in the series yet. Its recreation of Japan is absolutely brilliant too, with some truly scenic locations to visit and race across. It's just a shame that Playground Games plays it a little too safe, with this essentially feeling like Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Horizon 4 before it - but with a new map.
  43. May 14, 2026
    90
Forza Horizon 6 is more of the same, but when the "same" is some of the best open-world racing ever produced, it's hard to be mad about it. Racing game fans will easily lose dozens if not hundreds of hours exploring Forza Horizon 6's open world Japan and competing in its many campaign and multiplayer events, and while what's here at launch makes the game worth the price of admission by itself, chances are there will be some fantastic post-launch support that makes the game even better. Simply put, Forza Horizon 6 is a safe investment for racing game enthusiasts and even those who typically don't vibe with the genre.

Forza Horizon 6 isn’t trying to revolutionize the series. The game modes, customization, and even UI have a close resemblance to the franchise’s recent entries. Instead, Playground Games finds freshness in its Japanese setting, which paves the way for stunning new regions, dope cars, and an overall slickness to everything you do.

Forza Horizon 6 is the best and most familiar the series has ever been. The festival’s arrival in Japan is a feast for the eyes, running incredibly well on every type of hardware I tried it on. Forza Horizon 6 does exactly what it’s supposed to do. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better arcade racer on the market, as Playground Games remains the undisputed master of the genre: the sixth entry in the series looks stunning, features fantastic audio, plays like a dream, and is packed to the brim with content. Not every activity is equally compelling and the formula sees little true innovation, but for fans of arcade racing games this is still a must-play. An S2-class experience guaranteed to deliver countless hours of pure racing fun.

Forza Horizon 6 makes Japan feel like the perfect playground for the series. The racing is still as satisfying as ever, the map is beautiful, and I often found myself ignoring objectives just to keep driving. It’s familiar in structure, but once you’re on the road, that barely matters.
  51. May 14, 2026
    90
Forza Horizon 6 maintains all the excellence of the franchise and its thrilling, electrifying wild races. Whether on the familiar road circuits, in street races that evoke the feeling of being in The Fast and the Furious, or in the mind-blowing race against a giant robot à la Gundam, the game showcases Playground Games’ mastery of the franchise and how this title completely dominates the arcade racing genre—largely due to its own excellence and partly due to the competition’s shortcomings. However, it’s not all roses; progression has become a chronic issue for the franchise and needs to be addressed to ensure a future as bright as the present.
  52. May 14, 2026
    90
All of that is minor in the grand scheme of Forza Horizon 6, which continues the series' dominance in this casual, arcade-esque style of racing. The tools are there if you want to perfectly tune every aspect of your vehicle, and the difficulty and realism can be bumped through the roof if you so choose. But if you're like me, the satisfaction of drifting around turns, speeding down highways, and barreling through a forest with no regard for anyone's safety comes from the approachability offered by the best Forza Horizon game yet.

Forza Horizon 6 delivers what is easily the series' most complete experience to date. The Japanese map is amazing; a joy to explore - and the location's visuals are off the charts too, across the board. Whilst I'd have liked to see a bit more in terms of new races and event types, particularly in the Tokyo region, there's still so much fun to be had here that it's more of a nitpick than anything else. Forza Horizon fans are going to have so much fun with this sixth iteration, and that's not to mention how much the game will change and evolve over time as Playground Games keeps adding to it. Horizon Japan is officially here, and I feel like I'm going to be playing this game for years to come.

Forza Horizon 6 offers an experience that maintains full gameplay continuity with the previous installment, but this isn't meant as a criticism. The core gameplay loop of this four-wheeled adventure is still addictive, with its adrenaline-fueled competitions, skill chains, and car collecting. The campaign's construction certainly weighed on the final rating, with its few major events surprising us. On the other hand, the Excursions and Stories gave us a deeper understanding of Playground Games' Japan and several of the activities it offers. Add to this the rich multiplayer component that will extend players' time in the game world, and the vast array of creative possibilities offered by the studio, and we can only be confident in its long-term success.

Forza Horizon 6 feels like the series finally reaching full confidence in what it wants to be. It delivers an open-world racing experience that’s easy to get into without losing depth, visually stunning without sacrificing player freedom, and packed with enough variety that simply driving around doesn’t stop the fun. While a few technical rough edges and a lighter narrative structure keep it from perfection, the overall package succeeds where it matters most: inspiring players to genuinely want to keep getting back behind the wheel.
  56. May 14, 2026

Forza Horizon 6 delivers exactly what it promises, but it doesn't really innovate on the franchise. This is basically comfort food gaming. It's fun and familiar, but it doesn't break new ground. If you're a fan of the franchise, you won't be disappointed. If you're new to racing games, Forza Horizon 6 is a fantastic entry point, but if you're on a budget, you may want to pick up a copy of Forza Horizon 5 instead, as it's often on sale.

There’s no doubt that Forza Horizon 6 is one of the strongest and most polished entries in the series. Japan gives the game a fresh visual identity, the mountain roads are incredible to drive on, exploration remains addictive, and the driving still feels unmatched in the arcade racing genre. But at the same time, you can also feel that Playground Games is starting to play things a little too safe. The biggest disappointment is probably its version of Japan, especially Tokyo, which feels a bit too clean and restrained. After years of fans dreaming about a Forza Horizon set in Japan, many expected something more vibrant, crazier, and more immersive culturally. Instead, the world sometimes feels slightly too westernized to deliver the total change of scenery people hoped for.Still, it would be unfair to focus only on that. Forza Horizon 6 remains an incredibly fun open-world racer. The driving is exhilarating, the progression feels more structured, and the map constantly makes you want to get in a car and drive with no destination in mind. It may not be the revolution some expected, but it’s still an excellent Forza Horizon and easily one of the most accomplished games in the franchise.

Forza Horizon 6 is an ambitious new entry in the Forza Horizon series, brought to life with tremendous passion by Playground Games. Cruising through its vast open world while familiar J-pop songs play in the background, taking in famous landmarks like a tourist on a road trip, delivers a truly exceptional driving experience. Dynamic set pieces—such as racing against giant robots and fighter jets—add plenty of spectacle, while the game’s occasional use of stylized exaggeration makes both Japan’s landmarks and the gameplay itself even more captivating. On the other hand, the limited selection of objects available in the build mode, the inability to visit Mount Fuji directly, and the lack of massive, jaw-dropping sequences like those seen in previous entries leave some room for disappointment.

Forza Horizon 6 is the absolute apex of the formula. If you’re already resistant to the Playground Games model, this entry won’t be the one to change your mind. But for everyone else—for anyone with even the slightest appetite for arcade racers, Japan, or open-world driving—it is an absolute must-have. It is, without question, the best game in the Forza saga. It buries the competition (which, let’s be honest, has been mediocre for years) through its sheer generosity, tramples over the corpse of monotony, and finally delivers the Japan of our dreams with insolent technical mastery. The king is back, and he’s got a mecha in his rearview mirror.

Without question, Forza Horizon 6 is a really fun game to play, but how long it can hold your attention will be reliant upon how much you like racing games. Horizon 6 disappointed me. Me, who has played all six instalments in the series. I feel some of the progress Horizon 5 introduced is missing; I don't think Playground are willing enough to experiment with everything from progression to UI design; and I don't think Japan comes across well as a setting here. But conversely, this, along with the last handful of Horizon games, is one of the best arcade racers you can find, based on everything this game predictably executes so masterfully. I therefore take the liberty of recommending Horizon 6 solely on the basis that it works as well as it does, although I must once again recommend that Playground Games really take their time to be more ambitious in the future.

The driving is as good as ever; it looks incredible, and Japan is a perfect choice for the series. Some half-baked new ideas and a formula that is starting to feel stale aren’t big enough problems to ruin the experience, even if Horizon 6 sometimes seems overly focused on fun over anything else, like a satisfying progression towards supercars and fame. None of that matters as I’m blasting across Japan in a hot pink Acura RSX from the 90s with a big grin on my face.
  2. May 14, 2026
At this stage in Forza Horizon's life, it's justifiable to ask how much longer it can follow the smooth grooves of its long-perfected formula without settling into a suffocating routine. But it's also easy to take for granted what these games do so well beneath all those noisy layers of activity: They realize the romance and freedom of the open road. Unspooling their miles of tarmac through majestic scenery is a pure, undirected, unfettered joy. Horizon 6 is as good at that as any of its predecessors. Arguably, it's better.
  3. May 14, 2026
The best thing about Horizon 6 is that you can pick and choose how you want to experience it. You aren’t limited to either track; you can do whatever feels most interesting to you, whether it’s competing or exploring, and follow that thread to new and interesting places. I’m sure for a lot of people that means the fastest cars and lots of first place trophies. Me? I’m content taking a refurbished Nissan truck through winding forest roads, with Rise Against providing the soundtrack for my destructive path.
