Following her mysterious disappearance from the Pacific Northwest town of Bright Falls, he discovers pages of a horror story he has supposedly written, but he has no memory of. Wake is soon forced to question his sanity, as page by page, the story comes true before his eyes: a hostile presence of supernatural darkness is taking over everyone it finds, turning them against him. He has no choice but to confront the forces of darkness armed only with his flashlight, a handgun and what remains of his shredded mind. His nightmarish journey to find answers to the mind-bending mystery he faces will lead him into the terrifying depths of the night. Alan Wake Remastered offers the complete experience, with the main game and its two story expansions - The Signal and The Writer - in stunning new 4K visuals. The tense, episodic story is packed with unexpected twists, heart-stopping cliff hangers, and intense bursts of combat where it takes more than bullets to banish the darkness. The game’s cutscenes, quirky cast of characters, and the majestic Pacific Northwest vistas have been enhanced for an experience that delivers as much on its visual impact as its unnerving atmosphere. Alan Wake Remastered is a remasterpiece. I caught myself audiably saying, “man, I love this game” over and over while playing. I’ve dipped back in to Alan Wake’s American Nightmare to continue on, and I have a feeling I’ll be scheduling another replay of Control when this silly season quiets down. Remedy’s universe has captured my heart; Remastered certainly holds its own in 2021, but also serves as an impressive reminder of how far the studio has grown since 2010.

If you've never played Alan Wake, this is the best possible way to experience the game. For anyone who loves horror or Remedy's other titles, there's a ton to unpack here with an engaging narrative and stellar gameplay. The remastered enhancements bolster the game even further, giving it a place in today's gaming world, and while the gameplay doesn't perhaps hold up as well as it did in 2010, Alan Wake Remastered is still as joyous as it was back then and a perfect treat for the Halloween season.

Alan Wake Remastered is the definitive version of Alan's story in Bright Falls. It is the exact same game that acquired quiet respect amongst fans and critics following its 2010 release. Only now it boasts 4K visuals and 60FPS gameplay. Along with some welcome bonus features, and packaged-in DLC, the remaster is a must for superfans, and a fantastic starting point for curious newcomers, with only a few small annoyances that stop it just short of reaching perfection.

Alan Wake Remastered does what a good remaster should. It honors the original game’s artistic direction while enhancing it with modern technology, specifically in the form of volumetric lighting. Its lack of American Nightmare as part of the package is disappointing to say the least, but fans of Remedy’s current work would do well to take a trip to Bright Falls, whether they’re returning or visiting for the first time.

Alan Wake is a fantastic game, while Alan Wake Remastered remains just a great port. Yes, it loses something with the new shiny visuals and a few things have not withstood the test of time, but everything else is still fantastic. Especially that story!

I waited more than 10 years to finally play Alan Wake, and now that I’ve seen the credits roll, I can’t get it out of my mind. It’s firmly sunk its teeth into me, and like with many of the other greats, I’ll be returning to this world again and again for years to come.

Writer Alan Wake searches for his missing wife while tackling a malevolent force disguised as darkness in this clunky but atmospheric reboot.

Not perfect, yet okay remaster. All cutscenes look way better than original ones, still not amazing, but way better. To be honest i neverNot perfect, yet okay remaster. All cutscenes look way better than original ones, still not amazing, but way better. To be honest i never really cared for the cutscenes in this game, i have played it since 2012 and i always skipped cutscenes after 1st time i played it. I just find it weird when people play it and act like cutscenes aren't top tier, like people don't understand that this is updated 2010/2012 video game. For 2010/2012, this game looks phenomenally good. So yeah main improvement is cutscenes, but also everything else, like grass, ground textures, textures in general, lighting. Ghosting effect is gone (thank god). Maxed out, this is now best version of this game and nobody can argue that. It simply looks way cleaner and better and don't get me wrong, fog is still there, difference is that you can actually now see where you are going. I have played this game over 30 times and i always got lost somewhere in the woods, because it was so difficult to even understand where you are. This problem is gone now. Looks good, not perfect, but still best version of this game as of right now. graphically it can almost compete with some modern games. New York level looks better than ever. Performance is okay, but i'm sure they will update it even more.
If you have never played it and wanna choose between this version or original, 100% pick remastered . It is ultimate edition of this game.

But it doesn't reallyAlan Wake Remastered is definitely a title that I recommend to all the people who just got acquainted with this series. But it doesn't really have anything new to say for old players, and this lowers the purchase value for old players. The graphical improvements are not great, but they are at a good level. The music of the game is still excellent and first class. In terms of gameplay, the remastered version may seem repetitive and boring like the original version, but when you experience it yourself, your opinion will change completely. The story of the game is a masterpiece and it has one of the most engaging and conceptual stories of the Video Game industry that you will no doubt find yourself in Youtube searching “Alan Wake Story Explained” after finishing the game!
Now, finally, I need to mention two negative things in this remaster. First, I must say that this remaster suffers from a serious problem in the animation of faces and bodies, which is really a shame for a remastered title. (Fortunately, this problem is only seen during the gameplay and not in the cutscenes) In the second part, the game uses a completely outdated UI, which makes it not feel at least a little modern.

The Pac NorthWest is an American Treasure for sure.
Sometimes games settings are bette rthen the gam,e we actually get.
Like Kojimas Death STranding.. That world was exciting and we get a metally ill mailman who fights other mentally ill mailman...
IMO Alan Wake could benefit from a different gameplay with same characters and setting...
