Following her mysterious disappearance from the Pacific Northwest town of Bright Falls, he discovers pages of a horror story he has supposedly written, but he has no memory of. Wake is soon forced to question his sanity, as page by page, the story comes true before his eyes: a hostile presence of supernatural darkness is taking over everyone it finds, turning them against him. He has no choice but to confront the forces of darkness armed only with his flashlight, a handgun and what remains of his shredded mind. His nightmarish journey to find answers to the mind-bending mystery he faces will lead him into the terrifying depths of the night. Alan Wake Remastered offers the complete experience, with the main game and its two story expansions - The Signal and The Writer - in stunning new 4K visuals. The tense, episodic story is packed with unexpected twists, heart-stopping cliff hangers, and intense bursts of combat where it takes more than bullets to banish the darkness. The game’s cutscenes, quirky cast of characters, and the majestic Pacific Northwest vistas have been enhanced for an experience that delivers as much on its visual impact as its unnerving atmosphere. Alan Wake Remastered is basically the same game that came out in 2010 with its pros and cons remaining intact. If you're a fan or want more context as to what Control's AWE DLC was all about, it might be worthwhile. Otherwise, it's best saved for an on-sale pickup.

Beautiful, mysterious, at times even scary game. Would recommend, if you have never played it before.

The combat system is basically the same throughout the entire game, with a small variety of enemies and upgrades.
The story is quite good, so are the characters. The dark atmosphere is great, and that what makes this game good, but not excellent.
I guess ten years ago I would have written a better review.
In conclusion, Alan Wake Remastered can be considered a great game by a (relatively) small people who loves this genre, but objectively is just a quite good horror survival game.
I'm sure AW 2 will be far better.

The narration is flat or in fact particularly interesting at all, and the combat is absolutely awful.
The combat is frustrating and awkward, have to shine torches on enemies to weaken them but torch runs out of batteries? You get weapons but they do little damage until enemies are weakened by torch, makes multiple enemies frustrating and eventually torch batteries and gun ammo runs out, but enemies seem to continue spawning. In chapter 2 I had to take on about 12 enemies at once, but ran out of torch batteries and gun ammo, my stamina ran out so even dodging attacks became impossible. I finally ran to a place with a generator to produce light to give me a safe space, but the enemies were so fast an relentless I couldn't activate the generator. I spent about 4o minutes at that section before deciding to stop playing. Nothing about this game is fun.

Audio issues: I spent my first half hour of the game constantly tweaking the audio sliders because the cinematics were very quiet despite being max, and the sounds effects and music of the game drowned out the in-game audio, before I gave up and just turned on the subtitles as it was impossible to hear audio correctly.
