Not perfect, yet okay remaster. All cutscenes look way better than original ones, still not amazing, but way better. I just find it weird when people play it and act like cutscenes aren't top tier, like people don't understand that this is updated 2010/2012 video game. For 2010/2012, this game looks phenomenally good. So yeah main improvement is cutscenes, but also everything else, like grass, ground textures, textures in general, lighting. Ghosting effect is gone (thank god). Maxed out, this is now best version of this game and nobody can argue that. It simply looks way cleaner and better and don't get me wrong, fog is still there, difference is that you can actually now see where you are going. I have played this game over 30 times and i always got lost somewhere in the woods, because it was so difficult to even understand where you are. This problem is gone now. Looks good, not perfect, but still best version of this game as of right now. graphically it can almost compete with some modern games. New York level looks better than ever. Performance is okay, but i'm sure they will update it even more.
If you have never played it and wanna choose between this version or original, 100% pick remastered . It is ultimate edition of this game.

You don´t always need a full remake to make a beloved game feel fresh again. But considering some of the recent remasters on the market, Alan Wake´s rejuvenation looks rather dull - especially on XBOX Series X and PlayStation 5. Anyway, if you´ve never experienced the mysteries of Bright Falls before, your money´s still well spent.

I don’t give out perfect scores often, but Alan Wake deserves it.

The story is absolutely mind blowing and I am enthralled in this Remedy connected universe they have created. Overall if your like me and never got to play Alan Wake when it first released back in 2010 then definitely give the remaster a shot, you won’t regret it.

then definitely give this one a shot.

This could be a 10 but it's just a remaster not really noticing much of a increase in fidelity, texture quality but performance is better, and colors are better. But based on the game itself it should alone be an 8 to 8.5 since it is improved it's bumped it up to a 9. Wishing lots of amazing success for the game, and it's sequel now that it will be a full multiplat release!!!This could be a 10 but it's just a remaster not really noticing much of a increase in fidelity, texture quality but performance is better, and colors are better. Overall I enjoyed my time with Alan Wake. It was a short and interesting story with some really cool concepts both story wise and gameplay wise. There are a few issues I have but nothing that majorly kills the experience.

    Positives:
    - Cool mysterious story that keeps you guessing.

    - Great small town setting in the pacific north west
    - wears its Twin Peaks and Stephen King inspirations on its sleeve. If you like either of those you will love this game.

    - The right amount of scary/creepy.

    - A good personal story with a good amount of ambiguity.

    - A very fun cast of characters. Alan is great of course.

    - Solid puzzles.

    - episodes 5-6 are killer!

    Negatives:
    - the idea of the combat is brilliant and cool at times but it feels unbalanced which makes it come across as clunky and slow.

    - episode 3 is a slog
    - too many forest sequences.

    - weird tonal shift in episode 4.

    - the episodic structure while cool and nostalgic for fans of shows like Twin Peaks makes the story a but disjointed.

Overall the game is great, just a few problems you might be able to attribute to it being older. Can't believe this was a 360 exclusive back in the day! Still looks great!

Alan Wake Remastered is definitely a title that I recommend to all the people who just got acquainted with this series. But it doesn't really have anything new to say for old players, and this lowers the purchase value for old players. The graphical improvements are not great, but they are at a good level. The music of the game is still excellent and first class. In terms of gameplay, the remastered version may seem repetitive and boring like the original version, but when you experience it yourself, your opinion will change completely. The story of the game is a masterpiece and it has one of the most engaging and conceptual stories of the Video Game industry that you will no doubt find yourself in Youtube searching “Alan Wake Story Explained” after finishing the game!
Now, finally, I need to mention two negative things in this remaster. First, I must say that this remaster suffers from a serious problem in the animation of faces and bodies, which is really a shame for a remastered title. (Fortunately, this problem is only seen during the gameplay and not in the cutscenes) In the second part, the game uses a completely outdated UI, which makes it not feel at least a little modern.

Playing the remake on xbx It gets super repetitive. I'm at the "get to the coal mine" on episode 3, and I'm just getting bored, and at this point, want it to be over already.

The Positives: Pretty cool story, and voice acting. Looks decent, graphically. The surroundings and environment, are beautiful. Some tense moments. Decent cut-scenes, and I like the fact his stamina runs out

    The Positives:

    The Negatives:
You lose everything you collect, (ammo, guns, flash bangs, batteries, flares, etc..) after every damn cut-scene, almost. So basically you're starting fresh, randomly. Horrible design flaw.
Camera angle constantly switches to 'over the left shoulder' view. You can switch back, but in seconds while running, or just exploring, it automatically veers right back to 'over the left shoulder' view.
Rinse/Repeat gameplay. They'll throw in more enemies to make it "challenging" so when you do die, you have to try and solve the best dilemma possible and it just gets frustrating and not fun anymore.
Scavenging for more ammo/batteries....to just lose it all later.
Controls are a bit janky at times.

Alan Wake remastered is something I have always wanted to exist as the original was highly under looked when it came out. It was tied to one console and frankly Remedy was not quite the household name it is today. It is one of their best games and worth checking out whether you played the original or not. It still carries plenty of jank and questionable design mechanics from that era, but the story and characters excel it past most of its own issues. This is one experience that is worth revisiting or experiencing for the first time.

Alan Wake is still a good game, but the remastered version reminds us that this game comes from a different era, and I wish that the devs would have implemented some QoL improvements to cater for this current gen.

This title is a true example of a game being considered art. The use of loops, light vs darkness themes, the music and score, all whilst building a lovable cast of characters makes it a memorable game. I would consider this remaster a general success with the exception for PC, consoles seem to be running the game with only one serious known issue that should be fixed soon.
