Eager to redeem itself with its community, BioWare took the time to deliver what is probably one of its most successful productions in a long time and one of the best games in the saga. Between its epic and touching storytelling, its endearing characters, its captivating fights that can be modulated to the will of the eye, its sublime environments that we enjoy exploring or its answers to long-standing questions, Dragon Age The Veilguard is one of the best action-RPG games of this year. Newcomers will be welcomed with open arms by a story that sometimes flirts with the spectacular. The fans of the first hour will regret that the roleplay dimension that made the reputation of the studio is more behind. Dragon Age The Veilguard is more about evolution than revolution, but BioWare is finally back.- Gameblog.fr

Probably the most comprehensive title of the series, yet one that seems to have suffered from its own ambition given the lack of polish on some of its more technical aspects. Story-wise, it's nothing of note, and the gameplay mechanics should be more seamless, but fans will enjoy a true and complete Splinter Cell experience nonetheless.- Gameblog.fr

Paved with good intentions, this new FPS from 4A Games comes up short in terms of gameplay (mostly because of a poor AI). That's too bad because its atmosphere and story are rich and interesting. It's a good experience if you're able to pace yourself like the game needs you to in order to shine; to help you there, it's also a shame that the "Ranger" difficulty mode has to be purchased as a DLC.- Gameblog.fr

With this big update, Resident Evil Village is easily one of the spearheads of the PSVR 2. An essential experience for horror and ultra immersive game lovers. Capcom has done a masterful job and has taken advantage of the opportunity to offer new gameplay that is entirely optimised for Sony's headset. And the result is striking. Despite its few flaws, Village takes advantage of VR to give itself a new lease on life. Even the most reluctant players, who didn't find the original game impressive, will be taken on board in this nightmarish adventure. Some sequences are more gripping than ever. In short, with the PSVR 2, Resident Evil Village is more than ever an essential.- Gameblog.fr

Great atmosphere and presentation, beautiful visuals, well rebuilt interface, lots of game modes: FIFA 15 only changes a little from FIFA 14, but it's still a sharp football experience on consoles. Wandersong is a colorful musical platformer which does not bet everything on its technical element, but delivers a cheerful fable along its ten hour run. Final Fantasy VII on Switch could easily have been one of the console's must-haves: its undeniable charm still works more than 20 years after its original release, but this stingy port still contains the horrible French localization from 1997, as well as the old PS4 bug which constantly reset the beautiful sounds of Nobuo Uematsu.- Gameblog.fr

Very disappointing in single player, Blur reveals its charm in multiplayer. Playing with friends, striking at each other, and going all-out on them is where the fun's at ! It can prove to be strategic, despite its arcade-style driving style, thanks to the Power Up tactical side that can change the outcome of any race dramatically. So to sum it up, Blur is a very good game in multiplayer, ideal for competition behind the wheel of realistic rides with added power-up benefits, but be warned: in solo play, boredom prevails.- Gameblog.fr

Beyond the obvious Minecraft inspiration, Dragon Quest Builders is based on a solid, subtly ironic narrative which creates not only reason for these building tasks, but also life into this 3D rendition of Alefgard. And it gets sharper on Nintendo Switch with the Great Sabrecub that literally cuts through the potentially more pixel arted Terra Incognita mode, even if such retro nostalgic additions can't counterbalance the limited sharing options and the lack of multi player, thus consolidating this fundamentally solitary experience as a whole.- Gameblog.fr

Sure, I wasn't always comfortable playing Saints Row IV these past few days with guests in my home. But work is work, and even though I'd talk to them about Journey and the like to explain my work as a video games critic, a serious part of me was secretly enjoying every last bit of silliness and bad taste Saints Row IV had to offer. With Jurassic World Evolution 3, Frontier Developments delivers the most complete and polished entry in the series so far. The studio didn’t reinvent the formula but refined it in almost every way. Natural breeding, modular building, improved animations, and global park management finally bring the depth and cohesion the previous games lacked. It’s not perfect, micromanagement is still light, AI can be clumsy, and systems like finances or faction contracts could use more bite. But despite these flaws, the game remains a joy to play. You can easily lose hours building, tweaking, and simply admiring the prehistoric world you’ve brought back to life.- Gameblog.fr

Sea of Thieves is highly recommendable in 2024. Beautiful to tears, gripping and incredibly immersive, it's a real bubble of fresh air to do with a group of friends who are also fans of piracy. Accessible, but deep, complete and full of things to discover, the game does not offer any redundant mechanics and never forces us to grind unlike many service games. So much so that it’s even quite destabilizing at first. But once you have crossed this threshold, once you agree to play just... to play and have fun, and not to perform and win, the pleasure is increased tenfold. A must have to discover with your friends. On the other hand, for solo players, Sea of Thieves will not really be recommended. Not only do we lose a dimension of camaraderie on which the game relies heavily, but as a bonus it will be difficult to get by, unless you opt for peaceful mode without any players to face. But here again, we completely lose what makes all the sea salt of the game and that would be a real shame.- Gameblog.fr

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is an excellent game but clearly not without flaws, even if the numerous innovations make it the best episode regarding infiltration. However, Naoe carries the game on her own, when Yasuke only has a central place in the story and not the gameplay. It's a game where freedom is at its peaks and it’s sometimes at its own disadvantage. The rhythm is irregular, the writing is often weakened by the poor animations during the cinematics. It’s a shame, because the game has an absolutely bluffing open world and an amazing and never seen before dynamic weather system that needs to become a standard now. Assassin’s Creed Shadows may not be the most sensational one, but it is, nevertheless, one the very good episodes of the franchise and sets its future brighter.- Gameblog.fr

Shift 2 is full of wonders: a unique helmet camera view, immensely immersive, its full of races and cars to customize, it's extensive, visually splendid, and blessed with quite good physics... But sadly, all those pros are spoiled by really crippling shortcomings, preventing it to overcome the two references that are GT and Forza. Borderlands 4 takes a turn that won't please everyone. In an attempt to satisfy some fans' requests, the developers have lost sight of the game's identity. It is less funny and striking than previous episodes, and it is only in its secondary content that we find some small, funny, offbeat stories. It's only after a few hours, or when playing in co-op with friends, that the game really comes into its own. Borderlands 4 is extremely generous and will keep you hooked for hours before you even reach the endgame. Ghostrunner 2 is a must-have for all fans of challenges and fast FPS. Be careful, it is clearly not for everyone. We are talking here about a fairly demanding game in which you simply must not take a single damage. However, the formula is at its peak here. This second part goes even faster and further than its predecessor. We are constantly stimulated, we are never bored for a single second and it is very difficult to switch off. Ghostrunner 2 also achieves the feat of never frustrating thanks to clever checkpoints and a freedom of action that leaves room for experimentation. The only downside is the motorbike phases which are sorely lacking in precision with the keyboard/mouse combo and can be quite difficult. It seems that remakes are a successful way for Marvelous to bring its historic license back to the forefront and ensure the transition from first Switch to its little sister. Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar is as accessible as it is fast-paced, with a routine that varies sufficiently from the current competition to offer itself as a good alternative to those who bet more on the social aspect than on unbridled performance. As a whole, id Software's game is more than solid, but it still lacks a decent third act, with a scenario that would have focused a little more on the mystery of the apocalypse for example - but more importantly, its underwhelming (to say the least) ending sequence is a stain on an otherwise brilliant world, atmosphere and game design. A nice remake, similar to what was done with Ocarina of Time 3D, to fulfill the desires of players who never had a chance to experience the original on the N64. If the challenges may appear short at first, with the multiple branching in the "Adventure mode" and other new and different modes of play, most notably the scoring one, there is plenty to be done. Despite some shortcomings, it's a nicely polished title.- Gameblog.fr

Darkest Dungeon 2 is a great sequel to an already great games. Red Hook Studios took risks by changing the way the game plays itself but it becomes one of the main strength of this new game which as adapted to the time. If you like hard RPG, tough but passionate experience, Darkest Dungeon 2 is probably made for you.- Gameblog.fr

This episode won't disappoint fans. Even if there's only one new element added to the mechanics, the formula is still efficient, thanks to great writing and characters, and some solid visuals and audio.- Gameblog.fr

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, eagerly awaited, was like a Kamehameha straight from our hands, the fruit of our exaltation, many sleepless nights to unlock the entire roster and the cumulative pleasure of playing, playing and playing some more. The title isn't perfect, and suffers from a few optimization issues that may be the result of certain choices made by the development team, but it's still great. Since Dragon Ball Fighter Z, we've lacked a title that could renew the license with such freshness, and this is a stunning return for the Budokai Tenkaichi saga.- Gameblog.fr

If this new GoldenEye will not replace the original in the heart of the players, if it is unlikely to be remembered in ten years, this new adventure of 007 still performs brilliantly. The graphics are quite good, the staging is dynamic and offers some nice moments of adrenaline, the multiplayer modes are fun... without reaching the excitement we get the original in 1997, of course, a matter of historical context. Anyway that's solid shooter we have here, and that's good news for the Wii!- Gameblog.fr

Catherine Full Body offers a deeper look into poor Vincent Brooks' nightlife, by adding a new and surprising temptress to the original story. With the arrival of Japanese voices and a French localization, this new version also allow the player to get rid of the almost impossible puzzles, to simply enuoy the story or the social interaction of the so cozy Stray Sheep bar.- Gameblog.fr

Nothing says "Welcome home" better than Borderlands 3. It's no different than the other games, it's simply more ambitious: the shooter and lifespan of the game are better, you will explore more planets than ever. But with all of this ambition, it lacks technical polish, where it should have learned from its past mistakes.- Gameblog.fr

Final Fantasy XV carries within it the stigma of a chaotic project. Its open-world is huge but quite empty. Its fights dynamic but sometimes confusing. Its story grandiloquent, but somewhat bumped. Often, the spectacular meets the frustrating, making it a resolutely cleaving title. But if underlining all this is legitimate, do not forget the essentials: the four heroes of FFXV are among the most human characters in the history of video games, the last shot of the game making them immortal. Noctis, Gladio, Prompto, Ignis, thank you for this trip. Thanks to you, Final Fantasy is standing up again!- Gameblog.fr

Puyo Puyo Tetris is a surprisingly convincing mix of two of gaming's oldest Puzzle Game franchises. The fact that the game lets players chose between Tetris, Puyo Puyo or a (well done) mix of the two makes for a fun experience. It must also be said that Puyo Puyo Tetris is best enjoyed on the Switch. The console's local multiplayer capabilities are clearly one of the game's strong suits.- Gameblog.fr

This 17-Bit game is a love letter of strategy fans, and manages successfully to bring turn-based strategy in the hands of all. Its accessibility, its quality, its balanced, deep yet simple gameplay, everything was designed to go straight to what matters, while polishing the details. With its cross-platform multiplayer and a very nice, funny atmosphere, it may very well be the perfect entry point to a genre that is more often than not perceived as dull and complicated.- Gameblog.fr

I really thought that Blood Dragon would quickly become too much, but I'm surprised that it was able to make me laugh all the way through this heavily deformed and 80's enriched Far Cry 3. It goes in all directions, and at great length, to charm all over-the top, punchline riddled, references fans. A smart and refreshing stand-alone take.- Gameblog.fr

Bravely Second: End Layer is a sequel parody, in the best sense of the term. The narrative makes fun of the plot's clichés and recycled elements, assuming those at the same time. But Silicon Studio also uses such irony to hide some serious purpose through the gameplay evolutions that push its system towards even more paroxysmal limits, just like the scenario breaks the barrier to involve the player much more deeply in the game.- Gameblog.fr

Jagged Alliance 3 is a wise pick in the tactical game genre, despite some balancing issues. The game delivers fun from start to finish, serving as a genuine tribute to the action cinema of the '80s and '90s. You almost expect to see Stallone and Schwarzenegger pop up at the start of each mission. It's entertaining, aesthetically polished, and above all, it's exhilarating.- Gameblog.fr

Thanks to the light (but sometimes rather dazzling) cooperative help of Toadette and a few level design jewels, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker gets even more brillant with this DLC, somehow too episodically though. Super Scribblenauts fixes most of the flaws of the original, but isn't yet fully able to fulfill the tremendous potential of its brilliant base idea. A fault we can pin on puzzle levels that seem more restrictive than previously, despite the inclusion of adjectives and a decent physics engine to offer a better frame around the player's creativity. It still is a gem of emergent gameplay for all lovers of sandbox experiences, a title unlike any other.- Gameblog.fr

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD is a constant fight between good and evil : if the game now makes the most of the 60 fps/HD display and a mostly muted Fi, the classic controls are not easily transposables to a simple controller, and most of the already-outdated game design flaws of the 2011 game are still there.- Gameblog.fr

Both old school (even the bugs are!) and modern with its time limited events, Wasteland 2 is not only an RPG for old farts buried in nostalgia, it's also an interesting and strong experiment from InXile, helped by fantastic writing skills and good gameplay, which - and this rare for a RPG - actually works (more or less), especially since the developers created an environment where you have to use every mechanism to win. After a few patches, Wasteland 2 will be this year's best RPG, no doubt.- Gameblog.fr
