With almost ten years of thrilling races behind them, even the most fine-tuned racing fireballs can show signs of fatigue. But rather than risking a break-down, Nintendo was smart enough to dismantle its Mario Kart core formula in order to correctly refreshen each and every one of its clogs before putting them back together. As an added bonus, the mechanic repainted it nicely and added some of the latest technologies. The end result roars at soon as the engine starts, and promises to run nicely for quite some time thanks to solid online features.- Gameblog.fr

This port of Darksiders II on the Wii U has both pros and cons: on the con side, some frame rate drops and less than perfect visual optimisations. On the pro side: all the DLC packed in, the maps and touch screen inventory on the Wii U GamePad. The rest is as the originals: excellent.- Gameblog.fr

Charming, accessible, yet of unforgiving (but not frustrating) challenge, Rogue Legacy is first and foremost of great fun. Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a sequel in every level: wider, deeper but also way more talkative than the original, the game sticks to the original formula, adding a new multiplayer mode and a first person view. Needless to say, every fan of the Dragon Quest franchise will be pleased by this vast spin-off, but Square Enix should have tried a tiny bit more to make it appealing to all the other players.- Gameblog.fr

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is a profoundly generous action-adventure game. Filled with content, gifts for fans of the series, but for video game lovers as well. It's full of nods to other games and movies, rich with a large variety of gameplays and lush environments... blessed with an overall Castlevania feel, which is a consistent mark of respect for its forebears. Kudos to Mercury Steam. Despite some rare issues with some gameplay tunings, we can only hope for them to meet the success they deserve as we'd welcome a follow-up!- Gameblog.fr

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is clearly the update Yakuza 2 deserved. The very talented people over at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios recreated the riveting Yakuza 2 plot while adding new side quests and activities. Even if a couple of elements from the original game are now missing, Kiwami 2 has more than enough content to keep players glued to their screens. It must also be noted that the Dragon Engine looks and runs better than it did in Yakuza 6. All in all, Kiwami 2 another great Yakuza game that fans of the series should not miss.- Gameblog.fr

Blue Prince is an indispensable nugget, one of the most exciting games of early 2025, and that's all there is to it. It's hard to talk about it without spoiling the huge surprise that awaits you. Without warning, the game bewitches us with its unique roguelite-puzzle game recipe. Insanely intelligent, the richness of its gameplay is based on puzzles that you have to solve yourself. Calling on our grey matter like never before, and even going beyond the boundaries of video games by forcing us to scribble our ideas on the corner of a table. Addictive in the extreme, even more rewarding than any roguelite, Blue Prince clearly deserves your attention. However, for us French-speaking fans, the language barrier can be a problem. But it can also be seen as a final test, and that suits it rather well, giving it an even more intriguing dimension in the end.- Gameblog.fr

This third iteration is by far the best one. It's as pretty as ever, deeper and richer content-wise, and probably the best MMA "realistic" title today. Its only shortcoming : the new submission system, that seems a little too random. Other than that, if you're a fan, get it!- Gameblog.fr

Europa Universalis 5 isn’t just an evolution, it’s a true rebirth. Paradox has modernized its classic without losing its soul, delivering a deeper and more dynamic historical simulation than ever before. The game feels more alive, clearer, and more coherent, with reworked systems for population, trade, and warfare that add incredible depth. Sure, it’s still complex and can slow down in the late game, but the journey is worth it. Every decision matters, every century tells a new story, and when you finally close the map after dozens of hours, it truly feels like you’ve shaped history.- Gameblog.fr

For a small fee, Bike Baron offers a really fun cross/trial bike game. It is a great success from every point of view: super playable, and with cool animations, it allows you to run with an old guy's bike on many chaotic levels, in 4 different difficulty settings (Easy to Extreme). Death Stranding Director's Cut rekindles the flame for this extraordinary epic tales. The new additions allow this adventure to be seen from a new perspective. If BioWare can deliver a good load balancing for the real launch of the game, The Old Republic is geared up for success: the franchise works as well as we'd have hoped, the game remains pretty classical, but well-rounded, and there's this added bonus of the BioWare games that we came to know and love: the story. Actually, Eight stories, one for each class, supported by other narrative elements for every quest. It makes for a massive content to discover, enough to remain occupied until BioWare fixes the little balancing issues, refines the interface, fixes some bugs and the like. It's rather clear: Fallout New Vegas is everything Fallout 3 should have been. Well, in terms of freedom and storyline that is, since from a technical side, it's as disappointing as ever. All we can do is pray and hope for their colleagues id Software to lend Bethesda a decent engine - Obsidian couldn't do miracles with what Bethesda's coders gave them, and sometimes it even ruins some nice gameplay ideas like their crafting system. But in the same manner everyone overlooked the flaws of Fallout 1 & 2 because their creators were storytelling geniuses, Obsidian's work on New Vegas is good enough to make us forget about all the lesser details - except maybe the overall lack of challenge.- Gameblog.fr

With Anno 117: Pax Romana, Ubisoft Mainz proves it is possible to evolve a beloved formula without losing its identity. The move to Antiquity is more than a new setting. It reshapes building, trade, resource hierarchy, cultural balance and even city planning thanks to diagonal roads and more uneven terrain. It is not as disruptive as Anno 1800 was at the time, but it improves several essential systems. Flexible needs make each run smoother. The Roman and Celtic coexistence gives regions a stronger personality. The huge research tree adds long-term strategic depth. The visual direction is stunning and brings a rare elegance to the whole experience. Some parts still need work, such as land battles or certain UI details, but these limits never overshadow the core experience. Anno 117 remains a rich and captivating city-builder. It is more than a simple return to the past. It stands as a solid and promising new chapter for one of the strongest management series of the last decades.- Gameblog.fr

Two Point Museum succeeds in captivating players with its original setting, full of humor and creativity. Thanks to a management system that is both rich and accessible, engaging expeditions, and a wacky atmosphere, the game offers an experience that is as strategic as it is entertaining. Watching your museum grow, adapt to visitors' demands, and fill up with quirky artifacts is a real pleasure. To glide from sunup to sundown. Here's the simple, but attractive pitch of Tiny Wings, rising star of the App Store who kicked off Angry Birds from the number one slot of the charts. Its principle is ridiculously simple: press the screen, and your bird will gain momentum. As soon as you let go, it glides. But you'll have to time your presses well with the random hills of the backgrounds in order to go as fast and as far as you can, and to score as much points as possible. But even though those hills are never the same thanks to their randomized generation, it's still becoming repetitive sooner or later; which is the main shortcoming of the game. With some added features, play modes and ideas, it could have been far more magical.- Gameblog.fr

There are games that surprise you simply because they didn't have to exist—at least, not in this form. LEGO Batman: The Legacy of the Dark Knight could have been just another spin-off, another box of bricks sitting on an already crowded shelf. TT Games decided otherwise. It is neither a mechanical rehash of the Arkham series, nor merely another licensed LEGO title; rather, it is a universal work that pays tribute to a character who has endured through the ages—and seems to understand exactly why. It isn't flawless. The stealth mechanics sometimes feel like a half-remembered echo of Rocksteady's games, while the combat constantly reminds you that the game refuses to become too intimidating for its intended audience. Yet, TT Games has delivered its most ambitious title in a long time. It is also its most polished. And, above all, its most honest. An immense love letter to Batman, radiating a contagious sincerity. Ten years after Arkham Knight, that felt almost like a forgotten sensation.- Gameblog.fr

Would it have made more sense to truly re-make each episode to have them on par with other PS3 productions? The question remains. Accessible and fun, it remains realistic as well with a huge career mode, and ranks up as the top title of the franchise to date.- Gameblog.fr

UFC Undisputed 2010 is far more than a big update, despite its little flaws (most notably its disappointing online mode). The game is incredibly comprehensive, much more fluid and well animated than the previous one, and will undoubtedly please MMA fans. Granted, the gameplay may not be a revolutionary one, but it is substantial enough, and quite technical (maybe too much, some might say), to last you weeks and even months. If you thought the 2009 version was efficient enough, simply think about the 100 fighters of this 2010 one, and you will probably fall for it.- Gameblog.fr

Blasphemous 2 is a success. If you enjoyed the first journey, you'll love this new pilgrimage. And if you're a first-timer, don't panic - you don't need to have played the first game to try this adventure. Blasphemous 2 stands on its own. Part Metroidvania, part Souls-like, the game takes the best of both worlds and builds its own personal mechanics in the process. The result is more than convincing. The gameplay is accessible but demanding, the difficulty is present but not insurmountable, and exploration is a pleasure, even if it's easy to get lost. There's no doubt that Blasphemous 2 is a rather striking game, if only for its proposition and its universe, which deals with mythology and religion in a way that we don't often see. The resulting art direction and bestiary are also top-notch, despite a few repeats from the first episode. The whole thing is bathed in an ear-watering OST and boasts top-notch pixel art. Whether you're a lover of the genre, a fan of the licence or just curious, go for it.- Gameblog.fr

Assassin's Creed III might not be as revolutionary in itself as the historical period it covers, and it still has some shortcomings that may annoy old timers of the series and newcomers alike, but its generosity, the unbelievably high quality of its writing, particularly the character of Connor, the political and societal questions it weaves into its Templar / Assassins storyline, and the overall generosity of its content more than make up for it. It may feel constricted inside our current hardware, but manages nonetheless to push back its limits, combining the proven formula with new gorgeous elements both in the solo and multiplayer aspects.- Gameblog.fr

Pretty, dense, nerve-challenging, immersive, innovative... Outland is easily one of the gems of April 2011. Combining with talent several influences (Limbo, Castlevania, Ikaruga), it goes back to the rules of 2D platformers, with an added twist. It's an enticing tribal journey, with a soul, at a small price.- Gameblog.fr

If it's not a port that changes a thing, it's still a pleasure to be able to play Bayonetta anywhere, anytime, as it's one of the best beat-them-all of all time. Not a flawless one, but indeed a lovable one.- Gameblog.fr

Rayman Legends didn't age at all. It's still one of the most well-crafted and most gorgeous platformers you can play today, alone or with friends. But with only a few additions that don't change anything compared to the other versions, we can say we don't really understand how it feels "Definitive".- Gameblog.fr

This first Mega Man X compilation might seem a little short on content, but the pleasure to play through Mega Max X1 to 4 might be enough for most gamers of the 90's. With a wide museum gallery and some interesting bonuses, this collection just fail to deliver new strong modes, even though the newcomers will be more than pleased by the Rookie one.- Gameblog.fr

Gears of War fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief: Gears of War 4 is truly a worthy sequel to the first trilogy. The Coalition managed to create a game that is both faithful to what made Gears Gears all the while adding new gameplay ideas and expanding the GoW mythos.- Gameblog.fr

Halo 5 : Guardians is undoubtedly a game worthy of the Halo name. Its campaign opens an interesting new page in the Halo saga and its gameplay is, as always, on point. The game also benefits from the addition of the Warzone mode, a fun new twist on the classic Halo multiplayer experience. It really is too bad that local coop/multiplayer was taken out.- Gameblog.fr

Rise of the Owlverlord is a nice addition to the first Giana Sisters game. The excellent "twist" mechanics are quite the same, the difficulty is more balanced and we have 6 new levels and 1 boss for less than 5 euros/dollars.- Gameblog.fr

FM2012 will be delightful to its usual fan-base, by betting on its traditional qualities and strengths. By fine-tuning its simulation on details that matter, Sports Interactive clearly targets purists, all the while risking to lose the newcomers. For the fans, Football Manager 2012 is a success, but others will probably be put off by this demanding experience.- Gameblog.fr

With Assasin's Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft tries to synthesize a decade-long series, thanks to clever adjustments on its RPG rhythm. With a brilliant lightning, the game visually stands out on Xbox Series X, and offers a more flexible adventure as well as a real stable narrative. Rich, dense, but also time-consuming, Assassin's Creed Valhalla still is a good run, thanks to its historical setting and beautiful landscapes.- Gameblog.fr

No More Heroes 2 : Desperate Struggle is a journey of its own. Blessed with solid and enjoyable gameplay, Grasshopper's title draws the player into a furious whirlwind of violence and madness, complete with references to wrestling, moe, and cult movies. Diabolically orgasmic. NMH 2 universe is an otaku's dream world, with unlikely bosses, and an enjoyable bad taste, that will make you forget about the technical shortcomings of the game and place it among the classics of the Wii.- Gameblog.fr

Killzone 3 shows a great variety, both on the environments side and the gameplay side, while respecting of course the DNA of the series. The single player campaign is more pleasant than in Killzone 2, and the multiplayer is really solid. As expected, Guerilla offers us a very good shooter, which stands out as a landmark of its kind on PlayStation 3.- Gameblog.fr

It took a decade for the vacuum left by the absence of Advance Wars to be filled, not by a new game in the series but by Wargroove, an independent title that has all its qualities. The difference is the tone and look, the fantasy world rather than the military too, but for the rest, Wargroove is the turn-based tactical game that fans of the genre were waiting for, especially on Nintendo Switch obviously.- Gameblog.fr

F1 2011 is not a necessary purchase for the more casual racing game fan. Only the purists will opt to upgrade, in order to play it online, access the latest gameplay enhancement, and dive into the F1 racing world with updated cars and racers. A large update, indeed, rather than a completely new title. But the enhanced AI, better online play, and refined simulation still make for a very welcome addition ; let's hope next year's edition will also feature visual improvements.- Gameblog.fr

There are no surprises with the Dragon Quest 1 & 2 Remake compilation. The two games retain all the charm of the originals, enhanced by the ever-delightful HD-2D graphics, and are enriched with new stories, activities and events. Keeping what's best in the saga, Mortal Kombat on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is a delicacy, both in terms of form and content. One can argue that its combat system is considerably less flexible and deep than those of its competitors, but is still offers some subtlety, and dynamic combats that are very fun to play. Combining humor, a kitch universe and packed with loads of content to unlock, the Netherealm studio title joins the fighting games pantheon, but in its own style, without playing in the same arena as one Street Fighter IV, Blazblue or King of Fighters.- Gameblog.fr
