Super Mario Maker is obviously the series' most creative experience, its limitations ensuring the fluidity of the process without hindering inventiveness, constantly stimulated by the community's sharings and competition. On top of being a pop icon, Mario therefore asserts the architectural influence of his universe on level design.

The first Dragon's Dogma was already a very unique game in its own right, that sadly did not shine as bright as it should have. With Dragon's Dogma 2, Capcom went above and beyond everything we could have hoped for. From its gigantic and beautifully well crafted open world we excitedly want to explore in its every nook and cranny to its brilliantly epic gameplay and the oh so genius Pawn system, this sequel is a masterpiece that majestically gives justice to that franchise very close to Capcom's heart. An absolute must-have for every fan of open-world RPGs. We'll see your Pawns when you get there, Arisens. T'is a marvelous adventure, indeed !

The surprise is there: even though we'd have thought that Far Cry 3 would have been a "crazy open world shooter". It is, but it goes far beyond that in its depiction of its main character: the island. It's generous, enticing, well-designed and well-crafted - the only less-interesting part being the multiplayer, even though there are some very nice ideas there as well.

Rayman Origins for the PS Vita lightly uses touch controls, but eventually all this is not so important, as the game is so much enhanced by the OLED screen of the console. Rayman Origins Vita is identical to the sublime adventure experienced on home consoles, except that it doesn't feature any multiplayer mode, nor local or online. That's the real problem... but the game remains one of the biggest titles of recent years.

Despite its age, FF Tactics remains timeless. This masterpiece has stood the test of time, and now returns in one of its best versions yet. Although it lacks the content from the PSP version, The War of the Lions, this remaster introduces enough new features to appeal to those who missed out on what is widely regarded as one of the best Final Fantasy games to date. Both the English and Japanese voice-overs add depth to one of the most memorable stories in video gaming. While it is regrettable that, after 30 years, we have to settle for a remaster with so little work done on the visuals, it is also this old-school feel that gives the game its charm. Final Fantasy Tactics The Ivalice Chronicles honours the legend.

Torchlight II is very similar to Torchlight (who would have guessed ?) although better in almost every way. The game balancing is incredibly good (even though it's a little too easy in the beginning), and the character progression system ought to be taught in game design schools. Overall, it remains simple and pure hack'n slash, but isn't that what the fans were expecting?

As a whole, these Fates not only form the most massive Fire Emblem, but they also mark the series' most ambitious move, regarding the spectacular gameplay evolution and the subtle, complex narrative. Each version reveals a distinct approach through strategy or tone, hence such bold choices create a more immersive and dramatic experience. If Intelligent Systems had decided otherwise, Fire Emblem Fates could have become a game of clones. Fortunately, it stands as the ruler of the tactical role playing game of thrones instead.

Congrats Treyarch, you passed the test. Black Ops still has some technical flaws (some erratic scripts), but it doesn't lack ambition, variety, nor freshness. Its solo campaign boasts a good scenario, and its multiplayer is as comprehensive and solid as ever, while changing some basic systems for the better and introducing soon-to-be-cult new modes, as well as community features one could only find in the latest Halo iterations before. The story of Super Mario Maker 2 appears manufactured in a rush, with Luigi lending a hand as an extra, but the castle's restoration offers an excellent presentation of this episode's additional perspectives. Those fulfill the main gaps of its predecessor through incredibly polyvalent mechanisms, quite magical staging tools and more or less stunning power-ups. Some elements among the most audacious are unfortunately confined into dedicated styles, along with limited control means overall, the architectural vision remaining very straight and square. Such stands the counterbalance of the harmony deployed inside this marvelous building site, even more accessible to boot. While the cooperative works don't always operate in synergy, the community dimension proves more stimulating than ever. Paper Mario is certainly a very good game. It's sure to delight fans of the license, as well as old hands who've already played the original game 20 years ago on Gamecube. Newcomers, meanwhile, will discover one of the best spin-offs of the famous moustachio. Gripping, fun, funny and charming to the eye, the game has it all. Our only complaint is that the difficulty is still not quite up to scratch, even if those unfamiliar with the genre may find it a little hard to get going at first. On the plus side, this Mario Paper is, like all the games in the license, archi-accessible and well thought-out. It's an ideal entry point for young players who want to discover the basics of turn-based RPGs. In any case, whatever your profile, unless you're totally allergic to the license or hermetic to the genre, Paper Mario is an excellent game that would be a shame to miss on Nintendo Switch.

Modern Warfare 3 concludes the trilogy with a solo campaign that goes beyond my expectations, and a multiplayer with subtle yet efficient revisions. It boasts better balancing and takes into account the supportive players more than ever compared to the regular solo guns blazing hero. Quite comprehensive, it also re-introduces the beloved Spec Ops mode, and the launch of Call of Duty Elite grants him the best available service in that category. Pokemon Moon and Sun are very good Pokemon games. Everything you can expect and more from a Pokemon video game is inside these new cartridges. Alola forms and Z-moves are a great addition to an already good formula. However, it's still not the huge renewal of the franchise we were waiting for.

Without a doubt, the best DB FighterZ game on console, but you have to pay twice to have all season pass bonuses from PS4 and Xbox One games, and that's a shame.

Remakes of this quality level, I'd have any day. Tactics Ogre, with its appealing storyline and universe, was already a cult title. This PSP version corrects its shortcomings, enriches it, with revised visuals and new features or adjustments that make it more accessible to newbies, while keeping its unbelievably deep and rich gameplay intact. A rare jewel that will probably remain in your PSP for quite some time.

Pikmin 4 is THE game of the summer, that's for sure. It's fresh, affordable, cute as can be and quickly addictive. Yes, it uses the same ingredients as ten years ago and the new features can be counted on the fingers of one hand, but they all hit the nail on the head and are even enough to allow us to enjoy the journey without getting bored. The icing on the cake is that Pikmin 4 hides a few secrets at the very end that should satisfy fans of the franchise, but it also boasts a solid and highly entertaining multiplayer mode that would be a shame to underestimate. As a bonus, it's playable with just one Switch, so it's perfect for travel and holidays. Pikmin 4 is a real success.

Developed over nearly a decade, the last episode of Kentucky Route Zero has finally arrived, and with it the complete edition of the game. It can almost be considered as an interactive fiction, but with a real attention given to the player and the meaning of its actions throughout the game. As a subjective experience, it also questions the connections between video games and other forms of art.

If you're an adventure games fan and didn't yet try this legend of the genre, you can't miss this new special edition. Now if you're already a fan knowing the whole game by heart, quoting the best punch lines during high society galas, here's an opportunity to dive in again and rediscover this mythical game under a new light. The only thing we were disappointed with was the creators' commentary: it fell short of our expectations, otherwise it would have garnered 5 stars easy.

Final Fantasy 16 is more an evolution than a revolution. It's an ode to the license, a reinterpretation of the myth as rarely seen, and a spectacular game. It's an accomplished modern vision, an assertive turn to action with near perfect gameplay but which has almost nothing left of an RPG. A remarkable game full of sincerity.

Gran Turismo 7 is far from being the best racing sim out there, but it's a love letter to cars, and it shines in more ways than just pure racing. It's also about collecting and highlighting the beauty of cars. A must-have for every petrolhead.

Rally fans will not be disappointed by DiRT 3. Visually impressive, superb, it offers many game modes, a friendly split-screen multiplayer, the famous Gymkhana events that require dexterity and self-control, direct YouTube videos... But beyond that, it is still quite conservative, especially in his driving sensations, between arcade and simulation. The cars seem to lack weight and the career is a bit confusing... At the end, it's quite difficult to really forget the excellent Colin McRae Dirt 2.

As expected, SAROS stands out as a worthy spiritual successor to Returnal, and even more so. Far from resting on its laurels, Housemarque has successfully built upon the solid foundation of its previous title to deliver an epic adventure, enhanced by new features that make it accessible to a wider audience. While more accessible, SAROS remains a challenging yet exhilarating experience that delivers incredible thrills. This makes it a new must-have in the PS5 catalog, which once again boasts one of its best exclusives thanks to the Finnish studio.

Unsurprisingly, Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are essential for anyone who never had the chance to play them on the Wii back in the day. There's no point in beating around the bush, the games are absolutely excellent and are among the plumber's best adventures. Generous in terms of content, ingenious and creative in their mechanics and the renewal of their environments, the two games are a real gold mine. Obviously, the Nintendo Switch 2 allows them to shine even more thanks to 4K in particular and constant fluidity. The only downside: there are no major new features other than an ultra-easy mode and a few extra book pages. Nothing that will encourage long-time fans, those who have already played the original two games from top to bottom, to buy.

Infinity Blade is but a series of endless duels in the same environments. Once you figure that out, it does undermine its promise, but even though the battles can get repetitive, the combat system is deep enough to enjoy. It's a good game, because it was designed for nomadic use, and with this low pricepoint, it's exactly what iOS users could be asking for.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is undoubtedly the best Dragon Ball Z fighting game ever released. As the old cliché goes, it is easy to pick up and play and hard to master even if the all the characters share the same input. And it must also be pointed out that it's the prettiest anime video game ever made. Dragon Ball fans would do themselves a disservice by missing this game.

Even though this new story could have been a little more varied in its missions, one can only salute, once again, the talent of the studio. Marvelously implemented, and surprisingly adequate when combined with the western theme, this interpretation of the classic zombie myth is both comprehensive and efficient. The gameplay is profoundly (and interestingly) changed, and as usual with Rockstar, the value for price factor remains its strongest selling point.

Rockstar reclaimed Max Payne in their own way, without changing its core: it's a shooter, and its main protagonist is as dark as ever. The real surprise comes from the multiplayer, one of the best third-person ones we've played. This PC version is, at last, really well coded. No more GTAIV PC port nightmare from Rockstar? Let's hope so, GTA V is coming...

If the incarnation of the Spider is breathtaking in this great playground that is New York, it is legitimate to hope a plot and more inspired missions while the formula is copied and pasted from recent Batman games. Spider-Man PS4 is solid and generous, but it lacks daring and originality.
