    FEZ is a fun, challenging puzzle platformer fit to burst with original ideas and unique gameplay wrinkles. Its puzzles bend reality and even leech into our own world on occasion, but aside from a few select mega-challenges never stray into the category of too obtuse or unfair. A few visual and mechanical quirks stop this from being a perfectly polished experience, but these are outweighed by its charm and other wonderful qualities ninefold. It’s another one of those ‘games you have to play’ on Switch, and it couldn’t be more at home.

    On Switch or not, Fez is an incredible experience, strong and deep like very few games are. Whether you already played it somewhere else or not, Phil Fish's game is a must-have and has not aged a bit, even after 10 years.

    Fez was originally released at a time when indie games were exploding, and it’s a perfect example of why that happened. Fez is a gorgeous work of art, both effortlessly accessible and masterfully complex, and even nine years later, it’s practically perfect.

    With its exquisite, beautiful game world and its still fresh and ingenious gameplay mechanics, FEZ is a marvelous puzzle platformer and one which will undoubtedly remain a timeless classic ten more years from now.

    FEZ is a 2D puzzle and platform game that is very innovative in its mechanics. It can be enjoyed equally by someone who is not an expert in the genre as well as by more experienced players. Switch is the perfect platform to discover its secrets anywhere.

    I loved this game when I played it on the PC years ago, and it's a perfect fit for the Switch. Controls have been ported extremely well, and are actually IMHO an improvement over the original (that said, I never played it on the Xbox, but either way, I have no complaints here). Gameplay is smooth and so far (after a few hours of playing) seems largely glitch-free. A very clean port.

    As for Fez itself, what else is there to say that hasn't already been said? A beautiful, relaxing, and incredibly charming 2D (2.5D?) puzzle platformer with an interesting twist: every level can be rotated in 3 dimensions. Level design is fun and interesting, and the puzzles are a bit challenging, but never frustrating. But where the game really shines is in effectively capturing that coveted sense of exploration and discovery, similar to the most effective, well-built Metroidvanias. Overall it aged remarkably well (it's probably timeless given the graphical style), and is highly recommended if you like open-world exploration, and quirky, well-designed platformers.    … Expand

Basically, walk around, hit a dead end, rotate the world a few times until a new platform is visible, go there and repeat. There were a few optical-illusion type puzzles with ladders where the solution is in view, but not obvious until you remember to think in the game's hybrid 3d-2d-physics. Those ones made me smile.

    I the confusing 3d map, which you spend a lot of time in since you need backtrack quite a bit.

    You can get the minimum number of cubes to pass the game pretty easily. There are a lot more "challenge" cubes to find still, but many of them are a little too tedious. Often requiring getting real-world pen and paper to decipher the in-game writing system. I wish there were more medium-difficulty puzzles to add more challenge without becoming the chore of the harder cubes.    … Expand
